Unless she's planning on getting a PHD and is going to apply to teach at a college, she won't get a job making much money and her field has very few openings, but she's going to owe hundreds of thousands in student loan debt.

When I was growing up, there was no such thing as an allowance or being paid for chores. My brother, cousins and I would pick blackberries and sell them by the gallon, we'd rake and weed yards, clean house, babysit or anything until we turned 14. Then we went to work in the orchards, picking fruit. In the evenings, I waited tables in a steakhouse after the orchard work. My oldest cousin had a paper route and my brother smudged in the orchards in the spring (lit pots of oil so the smoke would keep the fruit blossoms from freezing). Some of us raised beeves also, whatever it took to earn some spending money and we didn't complain about the pay. Today's kids wouldn't touch some of the work we did or they'd whine so much they'd get fired.

If I was needing a job in today's market and couldn't find an employer I'd look at what I am really good at and start my own business. Yardwork, housecleaning, babysitting, teaching something I'm good at, light mechanic work, etc. Then, I'd go to a trade school for something. I just paid my mobile RV repair guy $500 for about 4 hours work and my mobile truck mechanic $3,500 to raise my truck from the dead. There's work out there if you're skilled in a trade. Best of luck.

Instead, I got my full tuition paid for by signing up for the US Army and putting in 100 dollars a month for a year in return for 6 years of active duty, life and skills experience, and 34,000 for college. Nope, that's not going to work. They would stop paying on their debt. Identifying as debt free is exactly what they WANT to do. Interesting fact, if you go bankrupt, you still owe the bank money. You are just relieved of making payments. Had an employee that went bankrupt. 8 years later, he applied for a car loan. The bank refused until he paid off the old loan. They couldn't force him to pay the old loan, but they could refuse to loan him more money. BTW, an entirely LEGAL form of discrimination.

These people got "grants" or loans that paid them1200 dollars every3 months and food stamps in things like "Healthcare services" and "cosmetology" that basically qualified them to paint fingernails and change diapers in Nursing Homes and when they got out of school-- no more checks!! Now they HAVE to get jobs in fields that they had no intention of doing and cant afford the $50 a month Payment.
Certified Nurse Assistant, Childcare , Cosmetology , and my favorite, Culinary Arts where they spent 12 months following recipes for a "Teacher" who runs a Catering Company with the State Trade School students actually free labor for the business. That's a real thing.

Handing out citizenships to illegals would be an insult to everyone trying to come legally. I dreamed of America ever since I was a child, yet I don't just show up uninvited (let alone demand handouts or commit crimes). To hear of what Democrats want to give to illegals is really annoying, especially when you (and others you know who'd love to come to America legally) don't qualify to apply (be it for financial or educational reasons - even if you'd rather leave voluntarily than become a burden to your beloved new country's taxpayers). If even those who come illegally (and demand handouts or break more laws) are rewarded with citizenships, why make other (law abiding) candidates wait and qualify at all?!?
The good news is that when the democrats finally run out of everyone else's money (or all the breadwinners take their income thus taxes to another country--where they are APPRECIATED), then they'll come and eat their own. Or bite the very hands that fed them.
My grandparents didn't get to the USA till WWII. Any generational wealth that THEY worked for goes to US, the same way that anything I worked for is for MY kids and grandkids. You see, they aren't just getting the stuff I EARNED, but I'm also teaching them WORK ETHIC.

Duh! That just shows your lack of understanding about why canceling all student debt is even being discussed. You don't get your credit card from the Federal Gov to begin with. So they wouldn't cancel a debt not owed to them. But 93% of student debt is with the Federal gov. Hence the movement.

@@TommyH2o The papers they signed to apply for the loan they agreed to pay back in those papers is a legal and binding contract. It was their decision to enter into that contract just the same as it's your decision to apply for a credit car or home mortgage. They should be held accountable for the decisions they made in getting the loan just like people are with things like credit cards, car payments, and home loans.

My Grandfather told a story as a joke. He said he had married an Indian Princess when he was a young man.
Now the family knew it was a joke and accepted that Grandpa was having a laugh at their expense.
As Grampa moved into his later years the story somehow became one of his favorite stories and slipped into the realm of reality for him.
Grampa didn't have Alzheimer's. He knew me and had a good memory. It just wasn't always easy to tell if he was kidding or not.

The problem with inclusion is when you have it exclusion will always come with it. It was Chuck Schumer who stopped President Trump's Dreamer Legislation. If student loans are getting erased, I should have my medical debt erased. They chose their debt, I didn't.
Why should I a 40 year old male, open my self up to the extreme risk of losing my house and half of my income to a woman who is likely to divorce me in 4-7 years? Marriage is a government contract and courts make it a extremely risky deal to enter into.... Marriage is no longer "death do us part" but now it is "Till I get board or can trade up."

When I divorced my abusive ex husband, they wanted me to pay him $105 a week because he didn't want to hold a job and I was the main supporter of the household and had our son. The lawyer told me to wait until he worked 3 years continuously to avoid paying him. I waited until our son was 18 and he had to work because I was no longer supporting him. I paid no alimony, but i had to wait 5 years to divorce him, which I was fine with. The only things i took were our son, our clothes and the cat. The house was in my name only and I let that go into foreclosure. Not only men get screwed in divorces. I was even nice enough to loan him money to get his CDL and car insurance so he could get back to driving a truck.
@@irishheritage893 it’s how you purchase the house. As a single person if you purchase a house it is in your name. You’d have to go to your bank to add another person on the loan. However, a couple can purchase a home with both names on it.
The person who wrote about letting their house go into foreclosure was avoiding having to sell the family home to divide assets with their former spouse. In some divorces the marital house is awarded to one party as part of the settlement or the couple have to divide all assets which includes a house.

@@erinobrien8793 I let the house go into foreclosure. I owned the house prior to meeting him. He worked 4 straight years before we married. He stopped working right after we got married. He wouldn't leave the home. He became abusive when he drank. I left because he wouldn't and I didn't feel I should have to provide for our family and get beat up every time he had too much to drink. He could have continued living in the home if he wanted to pay the mortgage. I even offered to sign the house over to him. He thought if he stayed, I'd eventually come back to him. I paid the mortgage the first 5 months that he was living there. He moved people in and they paid him rent, so he could have used that to pay the mortgage. The utilities had been in my name also. When I had them shut off after the 5 months, he had a friend hook it up illegally and cost me a fine of over $2500. He had told me his friend that was living there had put the utilities in his name. I wasn't trying to screw him over. He wouldn't leave and I couldn't kick him out.

These young people make the worse financial choices... and want others to fix it. I've noticed they keep saying it's impossible to buy a home now and anything below like 70k a year is not enough to survive... and yet I've been living off of 26k a year with a home. If they were like my younger brother buying a 5$ burger and being charged 50$ to get it delivered, is the reason they can't afford life. They just need to figure out the difference between needs and wants and stop buying stuipd things... name brands, doordash or a new phone every year.

Two people earning min wage would really struggle to buy a house where I live now, too expensive and too hard to save - unless you're living at home. I fully recognize that I took out student loans to pay for a degree that I don't use. I absolutely should have done more research before doing this but I still paid them off in full.
It's unfortunate how expensive college tuition in the US is but student loan forgiveness is not the solution. It's all about responsibility and accountability.
A response to Xavier Derusso: People shouldn't have to take out massive loans to get an education. Today's job market often requires a college or trade school education, except for low-paying menial jobs. There are only so many low-paying menial jobs that pay a living wage to go around. Not everybody has a rich dad to pay their way through a basic degree. 4-year degrees at state-run schools should be at taxpayer expense.
Millions are being laid off. We don't need more workers.
