31:16 THIS! Layering legato and staccato patches is a great idea. I was trying to get extra expressiveness from Nucleus' brass for faster melodies, but for some reason I didn't think of it and instead I struggled with keyswitching (doesn't work). Also, when layering, you can assign a secondary CC and control both individual dynamics at the same time for more nuance. Thanks for explaining the use and purpose of sample start, too. Now I know that latency's there for a reason, not just a consequence. Thanks for the tips, best regards from Croatia!
Wow Luka, thank you so much for your comment and glad I could help! All the best to you!
Great exploration video Alex! Just thought I'd mention that you also have patches for marimba, xylophone & glockenpsiel in the tonal percussion section, you wouldn't have seen it in the individual patches folder :)
Thank you, Tom. Yes, just when you though you have gone through almost everything, you discover even more :)
Alex Pfeffer absolutely, and what a nice surprise I bet - I really love the Marimba 😊
The lstency on horms is( partly) because of the slow tonedevelopment of brass instrument. Especisly low tuned brass like tuba
Yep, but horn players are being aweare of their slow tone developement and can compensate while playing live vs samples can't :)
Yeah, this is why "vst" composers need to use their ears after they've rendered the tracks and literally drag/move/adjust the track's waveform region so it's tight in relations to other instruments. It should be the Lesson Nr 1 in DAW usage.
Great video! Would layering legato & staccato also work for strings to give it that more aggressive start or is that silly?
Hi Alex, can you tell me what note range the double bass starts at? Is it conventional E1 or is it extended down to C1? Or 5 string B1?
Hey Stan, sorry it took that long to answer that question. I had Nucleus open that many times during the last weeks and always remember to answer your question, but always missed. The basses go down to low C
Guten Morgen Herr Meister ,could you tell me or suggest me the best plugins or vst for kontakt free or not to have an effective library to create epic music? thank's for your job .
I did a video on that. Check my older videos. I think wrote a snippet with only free libraries.
What do you think of this vs BBCSCO? Thanks for the video!
Thanks Tom, I don't own BBCSO. However, my reply may come off a bit weird, but if you want to decide between Nucleus or BBCSO I would simply judge from what you personally like (from walkthrough videos, demos etc) and check out the feature and articulations list and what lib speaks most to you. There can be 100 people talking you into whatever lib, then you get it and don't feel inspired working with it :)
Alex, thank you for the video. I don't have an orchestral library yet, but after listening I was thinking of getting Albion One, maybe out of because its popular. But you suggest getting this library. The prices are about the same.
Hey Kenneth, as much as I like Albion but overall I think Nucleus is way ahead. The switch between modern and classic mix gives you an instantly perfect sound according to what you are about to write, the solo instruments are really gorgeous, the sections can sound lush but also massive and you also got choirs! :)
How can I set my tracks with a delay or 125ms on go studio? Trying to write with the delay is tedious
You should find the track delay settings in the inspector. If you have trouble using the delay and don't have the track delay you can always set it to 0 in the advances settings in Nucleus.
Great video! Thanks for pointing out the purpose of the sample start! But I'm still struggling with that. I set the sample start to 250ms and in my DAW I set a MIDI offset of -250ms. Now the the notes start to play at the correct position, but there is a gap between each note because the notes end to early. To compensate for that, I could extend each note in the MIDI track to make them overlap. But it's very tedious to figure out the correct overlap length in each track. Do you know a better way to do this?
Hey Piotr, are you sure to set track delay to - 250 (in the inspector) ? Or did you simply shift the midi event by 250 ms?
I use Reaper and I set the playback offset of the track to -250ms. It makes sense that it does not work correctly this way. Because exactly when one midi note ends the next midi note starts, but it always starts with some silence (due to the sample start). Even if I shift everything by 250ms, it still contains the gaps between notes.
how do you think this compares against the Albion one?
Hey David, I am really not a fan of comparing libs, since all of them have their strengths. Albion One, besides the typical articulations, features a variety of FX while Nucleus provided some great sounding legato and solo instruments. It also depends on what you are aiming for?
Hallo Alex
Greets
Hey Udo, vielen Dank erstmal!
I like the sound too. Great job Audio Imperia. Where did they record the orchestra ? It has the eastern Europe flavour that I like :-)
To be honest, I am not exactly sure if it has been recorded directly at Capellen Studios, but Petr Pololanik was involved in the recordings! :)
The samples were recorded in the Czech Republic according to Sound On Sound.

How is this compared to Audio Imperia Jaeger?
Hey, as for sound you may want to refer to demos or other walkthroughs. Regarding features, Jaeger got an entire vocal section feat. Merethe Soltvedt and a more trailer focused sound design section. I usually don't compare libraries with each other, because each of them has their strengths I love using :)
@@AlexPfeffer Okay got it! Thank you for your answer. Just watched some walkthrough and oh my god, the vocal legato in Jaeger is very good. I decided to buy Jaeger. Thanks Alex. Keep up the good content.
Most of us beginners can't be spending almost half a grand for a library to start out. This is why Neucleus Lite is $79.00 and I'm getting one.
I definitely hear ya. However starting out is relative. There may be people considering going the pro way and saved a bit of money to invest in their business
@@AlexPfeffer
Good point there. I haven't considered music production as an income source. It's fun. It's a hobby
When you buy Lite, you get 100 off of the full version if you upgrade.
I've been wondering about 'Modern Mix' vs. 'Classic'. Do you think Modern is just already compressed and/or brighter EQ, etc..?
It definitely is processed and in general sounds more studio/production/trailer like. I do a comparison of the mixes is the video a few times. Can't check the exact time currently :)
Great video, do you know if this library is exclusive to kontakt 6? because even though i installed the library through both connect and native access the following message pops up: ''This instrument belongs to a library that is currently not installed''. i use kontakt 5.
Download and install free _Kontakt version 6_ and it should work.
@@AlexPfeffer Finally got it to work, thanks so much for the replies guys!
Thanks for the walkthrough Alex. Very helpful. Best from Scotland.
@@AlexPfeffer Had the pleasure of visiting and playing a show in your city once, loved it. Great energy and vibes. Cheers and keep up the good work!
@@AllyKerrmusic That's cool to hear, usually everyone is going to Munich :D ... do you still remember the location where you performed?
@@AlexPfeffer Sure, it was a place called the Revolver Club. Best night of the tour. Cheers!
@@AllyKerrmusic Haha yes, Hamburg nights can be pretty great and wild! :D ... I have to admit I think I've never been there! Hopefully soon! :)
Thank you! This was very helpful!! I liked your quiet voice. You don`t need to sorry a little bit: you explained very clearly throughout. I am thinking to purchase this library. A general question, what you think is here bette than the Spitfire Ortchestra or the Vienna Orchestra? (if you had the possibility to check these other out). Thnak you again!!
Great sounding library! It’s a nice touch that they added some solo patches!
Thanks for the Video Alex!
Seems like its a nice beginner library.
@@AlexPfeffer Sure Thing! I am looking to get into making orchestral music so your videos are greatly appreciated. Which midi keyboard are you using by the way? I have an e-piano setup in my room but not being able to change dynamics of strings while playing really bothers me. Thanks in advance!
@@tomgouthier I recently got the NI Komplete A 61 and it's cool. Don't know if it just me but the mod wheel sometimes seems to send data even though I am not touching it.
Sehr hilfreich👍
So this is a dry library with and algo verb( kontakt reverb on top of that) and everybody is raving about how good it sounds? That's interesting isn't it? It is and algo verb right? Or convo? Or is the reverb the hall mics? :-/
Hey there, if you want exact reverb information I would suggest contacting Audio Imperia. I don't know where exactly Nucleus has been recorded.
All I know is that this library sounds absolutely awesome! In the meantime, I used it in so many tracks and the quality and sonic clarity of Nucleus always shines through.
The reason why people are raving about Nucleus is probably that it sounds great! ... and I personally don't care where it has been recorded.
@@AlexPfeffer Oh i agree that it sounds great. And imo, they proved a library doesn't have to be recorded in a hall or a great big scoring stage to sound good. My point was that we're getting all great sounding library with various mic positions etc and they just showed us it's no necessary. A fairly dry library can sound just as good and big. That's how i look at it for now until i find info that says otherwise.
@@MustacheVerra Yes, I totally hear ya, ... I am just assuming here, but imagine they would have recorded this lib with e.g. 5 mic positions or anything like this. AI probably wouldn't have been able to offer it for such an awesome price!
@@AlexPfeffer Don't know about the price but it would certainly have a bigger footprint. Can you do me a big favor and have a look under the hood? Click on the wrench and look in the Fx section and see if they have a convo verb in there or something. It's probably a convo verb but I'm really curious and I'd love to know.
@@MustacheVerra The library is obviously locked. I would suggest asking Audio Imperia directly to get some more info about the inner life of the library! These are awesome people and I am pretty sure you get an informative reply pretty quickly :)
i took Albion one, by spitfire audio, and i also took nucleus lite edition, i have to recognize that nucleus is as almost as better than the big albion .
to be fair, Albion has aged a bit, even though not that much, ... but Nucleus definitely leads! (Positively) suprised to hear that even the lite edition rocks the boat! Well, actually no surprise! :)
no portamento?
@@brennt501 lol, I am sorry that it was so short. I always wanted to have portamento in everything but then never needed it for any gig except a very few. And IF I used it, the feedback was "can you get rid of that slurry note?" 😂
@@AlexPfeffer Haha, I can feel you! Maybe I'm a little bit too fixed on portamento. PS: I wasn't complaining about the shortness of your answer, I wanted to say thank you for your answer and the short time period between my question and your answer ;) have a successful day!
Is it cool to say, that it's a better-produced version of "Orchestral Essentials"? And I liked that you try to play the german anthem theme (I know, you didn't have this in mind!?) :)
Haha, I think they are both very different, but Nucleus can pretty quickly become a great go-to library for sure!
German anthem? No, I definitely didn't have this in mind! To be honest, with our current political situation I feel more like puking rather than enjoying it :)
This was great. Thanks
@@AlexPfeffer thank YOU for making such an honest review! I have Jaeger and I was wondering how this compares.
@@VoidloniXaarii Thanks again! I mean feature/articulation wise you can compare the libs on the AI website. Nucleus features wonderful solo instruments but all in all it has been recorded absolutely amazing and delivers a very cool modern trailerish sound ... Jaeger, in addition, provides you with vocals by Two Steps singer Merethe Soldvedt and a very great sound design section (Brams, Hits which I use all the time). I think I would just pay the price alone for getting those vocals and sound design in Jaeger. So all in all two very different beautiful libs! :)
@@AlexPfeffer For me something i like in Jaeger is the violins which have a bit of that classic movie touch (something i liked in the EastWest strings too but they're noisy for me and not as stable as kontakt). The solo instruments seem tempting but i don't know if i should get it just for that. A long time temptation for me in terms of solos have been Palette Melodics, i think i heard a nice cello there. I'm curious if you tried them out or if you have any thoughts there.
@@VoidloniXaarii Oh, Nucleus isn't just about the solo instruments. The instruments and sections in general just sound fabulous! All in all the library has become my goto library to have sections ready to either sketch out or thicking up my tracks. I don't want to miss it anymore in my palette!
Thank you very much
Is He german?
I think because of the Name and the accent
Kann ja mal jemand von euch sagen😅
I'm in love with the solo violin and cello !
I've search a lot on youtube but you are the first guy who show the solo instrument part on nucleus x)
