  • The B-17G "Sentimental Journey" is owned and operated by the Commemorative Air Force Museum in Mesa, Arizona.
This walkthrough goes from the front of the aircraft to the tail and stops at each station showing equipment in each area. No sounds, music, or narration have been added to allow the aircraft's authentic floor creaks, clanks, and other sounds to be heard.

I went up for a quick flight with her, back in the 1980s at Santa Rosa, California. What a beautiful old bird.

First ya walk through. Then you go for a ride
Then you join the CAF nearest you and amazing opportunity lands in your lap. I worked on three of those engines for three days and took a spin in the cockpit Bucket list item scratched off but I'm always hoping for more

That must have been a great experience. This is an amazing aircraft and hopefully the CAF can keep it flying for years to come.

A nearly 80 year old aircraft. Yep, it's going to have some creaks and clanks. Hehehe...
What a beauty. Yes it's a warbird but it can still be beautiful. Amazing restoration and glad to see it is actually in flying condition.

No narration is needed the airplane speaks for it self! Humbling!😁🛫

Agreed. All the little creaks and noises were best left out in the open for everyone to hear. Luckily, with my 6’2” height my head did not bang in to any object prompting words not safe for UA-cam.

Very cool! Reminds me of the time I climbed through Doc (B-29) out here at an air show once! You really get an appreciation of the people (kids) who flew in these things back in the wars.... insane amounts of fearlessness and guts.

You are welcome. I have more content coming covering the B17 and other aircraft. It was really neat being able to walk through it without a guide or anyone else in the airplane.

Good stuff! The silence adds atmosphere and timeless memories! Always amazing to think how modern things seemed at the time … then jump ahead decades to say “incredible that everything worked to plan and survived” Cheers!

I agree! Less camera shake would have been better and taking the DSLR on the gimbal would have been even better. However, my goal was not to smash my head into something because it was tight in a few places and I’m not a short person. The walkthrough was still an awesome experience.

@@thecorporatepilotdad Walkthroughs are great with no crazy crowds. You can go and do what you want. I noticed you have cut back a touch on uploads. Good move to rest a bit, reflect and move forward with new fresh ideas!

@@TheFlightLevel I had to cut back due to my flying schedule being so busy the last three months. Doing the same content over the last two years has become very monotonous and some new types of content will be added in the future.

CAF sells ride tickets on their website. Prices aren’t too crazy considering what it is you get to do for the price of the ticket. Opportunities to ride in any WW2 aircraft are becoming more limited.
