A peacock can typically handle a harem of up to five peahens. This is a common practice among peafowl breeders, as a single male is often kept with multiple females for breeding purposes. The ideal number can vary, but many breeders suggest that having around four to six peahens per peacock is manageable and allows for effective breeding without excessive competition among the males.
I would put some chicken wire down around the bottom of the peacock pen and then put dirt and rocks over the top of it. I’m afraid you’re gonna have critters digging under if you only put dirt around the bottoms.
I like the Peacock house but I think you should put a couple of stumps and short logs in there for them. That's a lot of eggs on the ground. I hope they don't all spoil and burst. That would be a stinky mess.
Should have 4 -5 prayers to a peacock, they will nest on the ground if there is enough debris to build a nest on. Also if you raise peacock know the best time to adopt them out is while still young 6-7 weeks so they grow up and stay where their home is. Those chicks should be penned up for at least 3 months so they will know home. The coop looks great add some branches in there so they can climb and get off the ground if the want. ✌💖🕯
Dutch glad to hear you raise pigs for your family food. Daniel use to raise steer for his family. The peacock pen is great. Jason's peacock lay their eggs in the open from Cog Hill Farm, they always have peacock babies running around with their mama. Thank you for the tour, your really doing awesome work on your Homestead.
I think the peacock palace came out great Thanks again for another awesome video I really enjoyed it and as always I'm really looking forward to seeing the next video
Yes adding an expansion, at an L would help greatly, especially since he needs 8-10 total peahens for those 2 peacocks. 🦚 Doubling to tripling the number of pea fowl will make that new pen too small, real fast.
You might get some rain today or tomorrow. I was just looking at the radar associated with a cool front, and dearly praying for more rain here for southern Missouri. We had about 1 1/2" over a 24 hr period several days ago, but it's back to really dry again. The pond is going to be so beautiful when it's done! Blessings, Texas Deb ❤️
Wow Dutch that peacock pen looks fantastic I take my hat off to both yourself and Randy really great job guys and I'm sure with the birds so happy in their new home you'll soon have the pitter patter of Peacock chicks when their good and ready. I really enjoyed being able to see the whole process from cutting, moving and milling that downed tree after the storm hit the creek property to the finished structure. Thank you so much for taking the time to video and edit the whole project and showing off the skill's of yourself and Randy, your blessed to have such a great friend to help you on the project. and I'm not forgetting Hopes contribution helping you as well, you have a special bond and it's lovely to see that you get to spend so much time with her just father and daughter time those will be real special memories for both of you. God bless your family and friends as well as all the animals living on the homestead. 🦚🦚😁
Did you know... An adult frog will bury itself in the mud and go into a suspended animation state during a dry spell. Then reanimate when the water returns.
I suggest putting up some board long ways under your netting. You had mentioned the possibility of snow getting on it at some point, and I think those boards would help alot to support the "roof".
At Cog Hill Farm the heavens. Lay nest on they ground in heavy weeds for cover..maybe try 3 spots of straw along back wall on ground to give them a joice
Daniel Arms is into land management with the property he leases from a lady near him. He's done work on that property. He wants to start a company too.
Thanks for catching us up on the pond, the peacock pen and the animals 😊! You’ve all been working hard 😅! Thanks for sharing, take care and God Bless🙏🏻🤗💕!
Hi Dutch and Family. Treats for the hogs. About time to go to the butcher. Animals are looking good. Gunner is awesome. Peacocks like their new pen. Lots of eggs. God bless and love yall ❤❤
The pigs are getting bigger ready for going to the processor shortly....the pond will hold water ok...the peacock palace is awesome.....hens are laying well....great to see around the homestead....Stay safe and see you soon
Those same people also had a plywood shelf for the hens to lay and hatch eggs about 4 1/2 feet above ground level for easy human accessibility. They also placed some straw on the corners to protect the eggs.
Wow those feeder pigs are huge now. Peacock Palace is looking fantastic, yourself and Randy have done a fantastic job. Maybe add some straw and dried leaves at the bottom just incase they decide to lay,a job for the girls 😀❤️
I love these farm animal updates. I still say you should put chicken wire on top of the shade cloth on the peacock enclosure. If a branch falls on it, it would shred it. That being said, the peacock pen looks fantastic. Love how the door blends in so perfectly. Good job.
The feeder pigs are getting big. The peacock palace looks great. It's good that the infestation in the pond has gone. It looks like it will hold water. Pearl is true the saying making a pig out of herself. Always enjoy your videos. Good luck on your side hustle with Bo. GOD bless y'all.
I cut concrete reinforcment wire panels in two lengyhwise thn buried them laid flat, a couple of inches deep around my coop. It works for keepin out large preditors.
Dutch, I am glad to see the updates with the pigs. I love Gunner. We have a rescue that looks just like him. Ours is female. One day, I hope to get some chickens. We don't have a place for pigs. I used to raise hogs.. we don't sized when the kids moved out. I do think the pond will hold water. I watch Arms Family homestead as well. Thanks for the update. I don't know anything about peacocks.
You could candle the hens eggs that are being sat on. Give her the dark ones. Mark with a crayon. Then toss the rest to the pigs. Don't let any more get left except her eggs.
You might want to put some minnows in the pond until it fills enough to keep bass and perch, just to keep the mosquito population down. Though it is late in the season so it might not be an issue.
I bet your Peahens are laying on the ground cause that is what ours use to do. But critters are coming through the holes at base of fence. And eating them
Thanks!
Awe that was very nice of you Cathy thank you 🙏
@@KeepingItDutch your are welcome!

THE PEACOCK PALACE!😅😅 LOVE IT!
Hi Dutch I don't think you will have any problem with your pond holding water. Love you guys God bless and until next time take care now.
Good idea on raking up the rocks. It has to be uncomfortable even for a pig or Gunner.
I would put some chicken wire down around the bottom of the peacock pen and then put dirt and rocks over the top of it. I’m afraid you’re gonna have critters digging under if you only put dirt around the bottoms.
If you want to ensure the pond holds water build a pin around it and put your pigs in it they will seal the bottom with their hooves

You and Randy did a very good job on the peacock coop.

The pond is looking good. Soon it will have water. The peacock palace is great. They are loving it. Great video.
The peacock pen is very nice. Good job Dutch. Bless you and your family. Love watching y’all.
I keep trying to get rid of the bugs😄🇺🇸
PUT a couple of eggs in the peacock nest so they can seeing where they can laying eggs in
you should put a partition between Pear and Persys feed bowls
Who is Pear?

God Bless. That is sorry about ur pond 😢. Love ❤️ from Northeastern Pennsylvania ❤️ ❤😢
I think the peacock palace came out great
Thanks again for another awesome video I really enjoyed it and as always I'm really looking forward to seeing the next video
Great video most enjoyable thanks. Chris from England
WOW that soil sure is rocky there! That makes it hard to even plant a cover crop! Good luck with it all.
Need a little more area for nesting under the shelter for the peacocks. Little wider and maybe L shaped in the corners.
Yes adding an expansion, at an L would help greatly, especially since he needs 8-10 total peahens for those 2 peacocks. 🦚 Doubling to tripling the number of pea fowl will make that new pen too small, real fast.

4 pea hens per peacock the pen looks great
id make the pond lil bigger make a lil deeper on another end fill it with trout and panfish some fire depts will fill them sometimes
Peacocks are ground nesters.
It's awesome.Just make sure you get them things done so no critter.Any animals get in there to bother them
Need fill the hole on the bottom back to keep preditors from digging in and snakes getting in.
The peacock run looks very nice .
Nice seeing all of the animals. The peacock palace looks awesome!
I am missing seeing the girls, but understand school and all.
Yes you did a good job on your pen
You’re a very busy man. Great father.
I suggest putting up some board long ways under your netting.
You had mentioned the possibility of snow getting on it at some point, and I think those boards would help alot to support the "roof".
Good afternoon i love your farm animals videos keep making more UA-cam videos 🥰😍🎉🥰😍🎉
At Cog Hill Farm the heavens. Lay nest on they ground in heavy weeds for cover..maybe try 3 spots of straw along back wall on ground to give them a joice
Great looking peacock palace. It's funny how people assume it has to be perfect. Personally I think it adds character, charm. 😊
Peacocks love to sit on swings too Sean. The pen looks awesome.
Your pen looks great
I am so happy Beau is involved. Great friendships=good lives!
It'll hold water just need a few days of rain 😊
Love the pond. It's going to look so nice and fun fishing for the family. Love the PP. You did a good job. Love all your animals.
Put some hay on the floor of the peacock pen, roof end & if u want to bread them double the size of the open area atleast
The Peacocks gated community looks great but will definitely be better when you 100% finish it.
Daniel Arms is into land management with the property he leases from a lady near him. He's done work on that property. He wants to start a company too.
Pearl says there's no shame in my game! Sometimes ya just have to PIG OUT dad!😂❤ I just love pearl!😊❤❤❤

Hello Dutch and family
Very good job on the peacock palace 👏
I love the home stead
🇦🇺With the peacocks you may need a second peacock palace. Put one male and three or four females in each.
Hi Dutch, God bless be strong. Stay well love you.
Ya did good on the peacock pen. It looks really nice. 👍💞🤗
I like your peacock inclosure. Thanks.
I love these farm animal updates. I still say you should put chicken wire on top of the shade cloth on the peacock enclosure. If a branch falls on it, it would shred it. That being said, the peacock pen looks fantastic. Love how the door blends in so perfectly. Good job.

What are your plans for the peacocks to keep them warm this winter?
I cut concrete reinforcment wire panels in two lengyhwise thn buried them laid flat, a couple of inches deep around my coop. It works for keepin out large preditors.
Make a nest box on the ground in the back under the other one. Could you give them a choice?
Good to see how those critters are doin'. God bless you in your efforts, Sean.
Dutch, I am glad to see the updates with the pigs. I love Gunner. We have a rescue that looks just like him. Ours is female. One day, I hope to get some chickens. We don't have a place for pigs. I wish you the best on your pond build. Nothing is more satisfying 😮
Yes, I think it will hold water, but I wonder if you'll get enough water to fill it.
Turn the Peacock wood into board and batten
A couple roosts under the back enclosed half for inclement weather. Maybe you did have them just didn’t see them.
❤❤ They're a good dutch very nice
Love the Peacocks home. They are so pretty. Can’t wait to see more & breeding season 😊😊
Hello from Savannah, Ga. Always good viewing!
Hi 😊
Love the Peacock Palace! I'm doing something similar for my chickens.
they look great! they love getting as high as they can to roost!
I think it's time for Pearl and Persey to go to the processor too. Weren't they supposed to be pread to sell the piglets?
Love the peacock enclosure!
They need a perch in under the covered part so they don't have to sit outside in bad weather
Will you paint the peacock pen,it would look great, everything looks great 😮🍁🍁🍂🌾🇺🇲
That's asome
Good evening Dutch and YES about the gnat 😂
Yes, as I was watching the gnats, I was annoyed for you. Lol Those would drive me nuts. Would the frogs, that survived, eat them?
My Grandparents used to call the pigs by saying “SU PIG” man they came running, brings back good memories
Dutch maybe Brandy and the girls could spread the dirt up to the peacock palace and cover up those holes. Just a thought.
Dog boxes work well for peahens they seem to feel safe when they can hide in a dog box to lay their eggs.
Cool shirt, Dutch... I'm sure Roman is proud!
I believe you have a good pond. I figured the water would be evaporated by now. Do you think there might be a underground spring?
The peacock pen looks good
I bet your Peahens are laying on the ground cause that is what ours use to do. But critters are coming through the holes at base of fence. And eating them
Watching you from Delaware, I have been watching Daniel’s videos.
I am so happy for you ❤
Looking great thanks for the tour around. Hope y’all get some rain soon.
