As a "black Jew" I've never used the NT in my work. The God of the Israelites is most powerful. Using the "bible" magically has it roots on Kabbalah. I've also used my Siddur (Jewish prayer book) that has prayers going back thousands of years which is very powerful as well. Keep the videos Comin!

The Eastern Orthodox Church has written on this extensively. You can read the writings from them and they saints as well as the Early Church Fathers.
Not sure how I ended up on this channel but you make some great observations about the emotional and spiritual importance of the church especially for enslaved ancestors. I am Latina and we are like 90% Catholic so going to southern Baptist service is an experience. Then I realize that before there was therapy, this allowed people to garner strength, support and catharsis.

I see the Bible as a Talisman now. But it’s been so long, and now I am trying to figure out where to “pull” from. Like for instance, should I start using Biblomancy to help me figure out which scripture to use for a specific ritual.

LOL I'm asked this question a great deal. The answer is simple, my sister. We just think too hard. As an African in America, we sometimes lose sight of the fact that our power flows to us from the ancestors. They are our guides and protectors. But this is what we forget. Its not just the African ancestors. Its also the strong brothers and sisters on these very shores. Born and raised here. Have you ever been to the South? They talk to Jesus like he's in the room with them. Yes they work roots. But they do so in Jesus' name. Just talk to an old southern grandma or grandpa. So we use the work AS IT WAS CREATED-WITH THE BIBLE. We uplift, acknowledge, and strengthen ALL ancestors. Even those that believed in the Bible. Too many of us want to hop over to Africa (And I encourage ALL brothers and sisters to learn our history), but then forget the generations of strong brothers and sisters right here. The Broken Prophet Being from New Orleans voodoo and hoodoo followed me wherever I went, but I had religious grandparents who would give me the Bible to show me how voodoo and magick is condemned and would be a dishonor. I grew up understanding Christianity was a religion used to control us so I think all of this turned me off from the Bible and anything in it after learning our true history. I’d love to learn more to incorporate it in my daily practices and clear up the misconceptions I have about it (my great great grandmother told me the real Bible was an African spell book and some of those spells still linger in the Bible if I look for it) I think I know what she meant now. Something that amazes me even if though it probably shouldn't at thsi point in my life is that the Bible has a way of opening itself up to you, to the moment and page you need, the verse that you need to see or read right then and there... which I suppose would be Bibliomancy or at least something similar to it. I would start to worry and stress over "oh which psalm to use!?" or "how are the other parts of the bible used in magic (not just Hoodoo)" but then I found that my own Faith and Trust in the Lord, and the Spirits that guide me and walk with me, that I will naturally come to what I need!

I see this all the time in Mexican folk magic as well; or Mexican folk Catholicism if you will. They don’t want to say the our father, they won’t say a Hail Mary to save a life. And I am shocked that they are so against this incredible source of power that they have in the Bible and in the rosary and in prayers that have been passed down for hundreds of years. I joke all the time that when I’m doing spell work and I am a little tired and don’t feel like working up the energy myself to throw my spell I will just hijack the nearest rosary circle. There is no better power to launch your spell than a rosary circle. I know Catholicism and who do you have an intersect at some point but that comes down to colonialism the same way it does with Mexican folk magic/folk Catholicism. I digress. Let me get back on track. If I am to bust it out and I just don’t have the energy for it I will go to the days rosary recitation and I will attach my intention to all the other intentions around the world. Nobody said they had to be good intentions, they just said that you had to have intentions so I have some. I go to a Rosary circle, I joined my intentions with all the intentions of my fellow brothers and sisters and we bang out a rosary. I have a lot of Hispanic and Irish Abuela‘s and Nanas in my church and they can bang out rosaries at rocket speed. They do the work for me, yeah yeah I say my bit, I do my part, but those grannies sure add one hell of a boost to my spell work. If I want some of that hit fast and hit hard, I will use a Rosary circle to get the job done. So many people I see in the hoodoo community and the folk magic community really struggle with the Bible and with rosary work. I wants heard one say that they would only work with the Saints if it had been corrupted. I said you can get the F out of here with that. But why would you cut yourself off from what you know works, what’s your ancestors knew worked. You’re just being sloppy about it. The problem is it in the prayers, the problem is it in the beads! The problem is with someone that tainted the Bible and tainted those beads. There’s a lot of talk about reclaiming, and I think now is the time for all of us to start reclaiming the best parts of the Bible for ourselves. Reclaim those parts of the Bible that someone else tainted, leave that shit behind and get down to work. Work on yourself, and your relationship with the Bible, i’ve done it, and it sucked. I still struggle. I still struggle, but I’m still going to work my magic with those beads and the Bible because that’s how my ancestors did it. Cutting yourself off from an incredibly strong magical current because somebody said something somewhere is foolish. I got a lot of Wiccans out there now through my work with La Santisima Muerte coming around. I said all you have to do is say the words. Keep saying the words and keep saying the words and keep saying the words and eventually they will stick. You literally have to fake it until you make it. Those Bible bashing, sings hating want to be high magicians now believe in the magic that is in the Bible. They don’t show away from it anymore. It took time and self examination for them to get to this point, but they’ve all come back later and told me how grateful they were that I push them to sit down with the book, the beads and themselves. Something that amazes me even if though it probably shouldn't at thsi point in my life is that the Bible has a way of opening itself up to you, to the moment and page you need, the verse that you need to see or read right then and there... which I suppose would be Bibliomancy or at least something similar to it. I see this all the time in Mexican folk magic as well; or Mexican folk Catholicism if you will. They don’t want to say the our father, they won’t say a Hail Mary to save a life. And I am shocked that they are so against this incredible source of power that they have in the Bible and in the rosary and in prayers that have been passed down for hundreds of years. I joke all the time that when I’m doing spell work and I am a little tired and don’t feel like working up the energy myself to throw my spell I will just hijack the nearest rosary circle. There is no better power to launch your spell than a rosary circle.
I know Catholicism and who do you have an intersect at some point but that comes down to colonialism the same way it does with Mexican folk magic/folk Catholicism. I digress. Let me get back on track. If I am to bust it out and I just don’t have the energy for it I will go to the days rosary recitation and I will attach my intention to all the other intentions around the world. Nobody said they had to be good intentions, they just said that you had to have intentions so I have some. I go to a Rosary circle, I joined my intentions with all the intentions of my fellow brothers and sisters and we bang out a rosary. I have a lot of Hispanic and Irish Abuela‘s and Nanas in my church and they can bang out rosaries at rocket speed. They do the work for me, yeah yeah I say my bit, I do my part, but those grannies sure add one hell of a boost to my spell work. If I want some of that hit fast and hit hard, I will use a Rosary circle to get the job done.
So many people I see in the hoodoo community and the folk magic community really struggle with the Bible and with rosary work. I wants heard one say that they would only work with the Saints if it had been corrupted. I said you can get the F out of here with that. But why would you cut yourself off from what you know works, what’s your ancestors knew worked. You’re just being sloppy about it. The problem is it in the prayers, the problem is it in the beads! The problem is with someone that tainted the Bible and tainted those beads.
There’s a lot of talk about reclaiming, and I think now is the time for all of us to start reclaiming the best parts of the Bible for ourselves. Reclaim those parts of the Bible that someone else tainted, leave that shit behind and get down to work. Work on yourself, and your relationship with the Bible, i’ve done it, and it sucked. I still struggle. I still struggle, but I’m still going to work my magic with those beads and the Bible because that’s how my ancestors did it. Cutting yourself off from an incredibly strong magical current because somebody said something somewhere is foolish.
I got a lot of Wiccans out there now through my work with La Santisima Muerte coming around. I said all you have to do is say the words. Keep saying the words and keep saying the words and keep saying the words and eventually they will stick. You literally have to fake it until you make it. Those Bible bashing, sings hating want to be high magicians now believe in the magic that is in the Bible. They don’t show away from it anymore. It took time and self examination for them to get to this point, but they’ve all come back later and told me how grateful they were that I push them to sit down with the book, the beads and themselves.
Their magick has never been stronger; their faith, never deeper.
