Here is my comment I am posting on John's videos : As an African American Female, I know that many of us who lost their Dad's early in life, have always sought to find men from their father's days to identify with. Unbeknownst to Dear John Witherspoon, he reminded me of family men, father, uncles and grandfathers who had often looked after us when Mama had to ask them to babysit for us when she had to work or had an appointment. The cooking crazy meals and leaving a mess, telling us stories of when they were growing up, still makes me tear up. God Bless you on your next lap of the journey to the hereafter...You gave me many smiles [ especially your recent UA-cam "Cooking for Poor People" Channel ] and feelings of family with the African American men who were good men, veterans, and did the best they could with the hand they were dealt.

My mom use to love cooking chicken backs the same way, we would buy them 2 to 4lbs they were very cheap. She would fry up a batch and we would eat them with hot sauce too. Or she would salute some onions and pour out most of the grease then make gravey from the pan drippings, add some rice and or biscuits,and oh yeah some thighs and legs for dad.
