I live a couple of miles from the Just Aircraft factory in Walhalla South Carolina. Troy does a flyby our model field every now and again. They are really nice people. On a side note .... the runway at the factory is at a 35 ish degree angle from a watershed lake. It is really interesting to watch a plane approach several feet above water and land below you on the hill. They throttle up and let the prop power it up the hill. Take off is down hill toward the lake. Thanks for the show and tell Bruce.
Very cool plane, kind of a shame I had to learn of a plane built in my country via Tokoroa Airfield. Seems I usually learn a little something on every one of your videos. Thank you for sharing your wisdom your wit, occasional sarcastic remark and thanks for all your work Sir Bruce!
I am proud to say those are built here in my home state..(NC)..It's always a blast to see one flying soooo sloowww overhead..great little plane very similar to a Kit Fox..but my favorite is the Zenith STOL planes also made here..and very popular over there...
3 point take off was good but wait till he gets familiar and brave with it and learns to bring the tail up and then use the flaps to yank it off the ground. Then you will see a short take off.
That's a good-looking plane, kind of like a mixture of a carbon cub and a club Crafters. I'm going to have to draw out some plans and building FPV STOL/Bush plane out of this design I love the lines on this design. Thanks for sharing Bruce! Rob
That's awesome! I wish those had been around when I bought my last aircraft in 1992, a Rans S-12 Airaile. Also, WOW an excellent 3-point landing... and on the runway! LOL Bruce your Tokorao RC flying buddies should ask him for some pointers. :)
Hi, Flying Buzzard! (High-flying buzzard?) Whaddya mean, 'Good ol' US of A'? 'Good'? Hmmm, let me think about that... And as for the 'Old'? Dude, definitely not! Please note that this Comment was written with a smile and a cup of tea and a nice slice of sultana sponge cake.
It also seems to have monster shocks landing gear as well. Trent Palmer is an excellent channel if you want to see planes like these. He flies a KitFox however one of his gang has a highlander.
Bruce, it is a HobbyKing Tundra, I suspect Just would not allow their name to be used for a foam replica hence the Tundra name. Just also do a Part 103 single seat microlite that is proving very popular as a fun flyer.
Nice airplane. I have an Avid Flyer and that's where all these clones got their DNA from. Under camber wings that fold back for trailering home from the airport to be stored in a one car garage.
It's sad... I'm limited to RC craft, because my true love is in full sized piloted aircraft... My favorite plane ... even though the plane was notorious for its noise and lack of cargo room... I just love the Cessna Skymaster 337... I like the 336, but the added Retracts of the 337 did decrease drag and increase handling.. But it didn't correct the noise and lack of cargo room.. Twin Boom Twin Engine Tractor Pusher High Wing.... what's not to love?!
Nice aircraft, note the staggered vortex generators on the upper surfaces of the wings,do you keep a record log of the aircraft that land at Tokoroa Bruce ?
Beeeautiful L@@KIN STOL! I Have About A Dozen Of Them Now! LOL Cubs, Beavers, Timbers, Champs, Sportsmans ETC! I LUV THEM ALL, Well Next To My Dozens Of 3Ds & Sail-Gliders & A Couple HOT LINER- Certificated 150mph+ Pylon Racers Of Course...#NeverStopTheRC Thanks Mate!
Bob and I (Dave) are sitting here watching this fine looking plane when we wondered why people actually come to the airfield? Apart from the toilet, are there refueling facilities? Who lives in the house? Whatever happened to the original model flying group, are the Jet fliers part of that old group? Cheers from New Plymouth :-)
So many questions :-) People come because it's an airfield and what's the point in having a plane if you don't take off and land from an airfield occasionally :-) There is no fuel. The house is actually the club-rooms of the local hotrod/drag club. Many of the original model flying group are still around but some have moved elsewhere and others have hung up their models. The jet fliers have had a change of executive and they're far more accommodating and friendly now -- so that's great! Any time you're passing, drop in and see it all for yourself -- there's always a cold drink or cup of coffee on offer.
Hope the CAA down there is a bit more relaxed than they are up here in UK. Here they have a reputation as the "Campaign Against Aviation". Seemingly making rules for the sake of it without any consideration as to whether or not they actually enhance safety.
Thanks for an interesting video, it was a nice airplane that had been visiting. I also wonder how the plane can have a registration number like JUS alone and not ZK-JUS. Isn't it against the international rules ?
Hi. In NZ aircraft under 5700kg. Rotorcraft. Gliders and powered gliders. Manned balloons. Special category airworthy certs under part 21 subpart E don't have to display the ZK national identifier. Cheers
@@warp65 Thank you for the information. Here in Europe, all aircraft included balloons and ultralight aircraft must show their entire registration number. In the case of NZ, the exception may be that the island is so isolated that the government suppose those smaller aircraft below 5700kg cannot fly to another country ?
Interestingly after a bit more delving into the rule book, if you have a significantly recognisable Paint scheme you can legally fly without any markings at all. As an example, a T51 Experimental out of Whitianga flys naked. Who knew!

Brother, my Grandfather used to build Just Aircraft at their factory and built his own! Truly an extremely versatile aircraft!

Trent Palmer does those kind of take offs with his Kit Fox.
Beautiful!

beautiful aeroplane wow!
Hey NC my home state :) sweet plane
Nice plane and flying 👌
Nice aircraft.
Really beautifull!!!!
All through my 'aviation' adventures (both full-sized and RC), the mantra has been, "If it looks right, it'll fly right."
That plane looks right.
Very cool

Pretty sure this is the plane the Durafly Tundra is modeled off.
Turning on final there Bruce, I thought it was H King Tundra. ;))

Fake channel I think
You should have asked for a short ride exist. I'm sure he have taken you up. Sweet PLANE. 😎
Just like a Tundra but only real.... awesome Vid BS and knowledge base is also impressive.... cheers from the big west island

Looks like a Kit-Fox, look up Flying Cowboys USA and see the similarity.

Wow another high wing plane
.are they not all the same
A full scale Durafly Tundra - I wonder if there are any common flight characteristics
Looks nice. That's a long antenna on it, is it flown on 35 MHz? :D
Check MojoGrip's UA-cam channel on the other Justaircraft models, the STOL is pretty amazing on it's take offs.

I never really thought about it being the norm here, but I think you nailed it in one with regards to our isolation..

Bruce, where are the drones! this model is too big for an RC'er
Bruce, nice plane...looks like we even have a dealer here in New Hampshire
