Right on. I'm planning a move from VA to TX soon so I've been looking for ideas to save $$.. had no idea it would be so expensive to hire cross country movers but I guess I should have known. I love the idea of driving across the country like that, and I think we could probably pack and load most of our stuff ourselves to save a little more.
yes you can save a bundle.. i would get a uhaul 1 way.make sure you get the right size truck..my truck was way too big and a waste of money.. hire uhaul movers to move your heavy stuff onto your truck the day before you leave..go on uhaul website . i paid 2 guys maybe 90-120 bucks for couple hours.. Uhaul gas truck is faster truck..my ryder diesel could only go 65 mph. Va to Texas is a great Drive.. I drove from Richmond to ATl...got some food spent the night...next day drove 10 hrs to Sheveport, LA.. got some great seafood at Shanes..Then drove and stopped in Texas..then on to AZ I left Richmond Sunday morning and was pulling into Surprise AZ Wednesday around 3pm lol awesome trip Then hire uhaul unloaders to unpack you when you get there or the next day like i did Good luck!!
I’m leaving Texas. So curious as to what this person ended up paying. I can sell most my stuff to make it cheaper. Texas has gotten way to expensive and way too many people. Rent for a nice place used to be 1,000. Now 1800.00. One bedroom. I can’t get over the drastic change and just refuse to keep paying these prices
Good idea, but thats a long road trip in a moving truck😩. We are currently planning a move from VA to Phoenix and we may just have to do the same thing.

Initially moved from Detroit to AZ just my 12yr and myself , in a Penske , with car on back. Penske has the best rates. over 2000 miles in 4days. Unlimited mileage . Married and moved back to AZ .. We used Penske again. Much better than Uhaul
The only problem for me is tht I don’t have anyone to drive the truck from nc to ca
Yeah I feel u..u might can do it yourself if you only need a 16 ft truck they are easy to drive..

Not anymore. Uhual is at least $3000 to rent a truck across country. That's just the truck not including gas
