Mark hit the nail on the head. Bucks couldn't be men enough to sit down and talk to essentially one of their employees to save the relationship. Showed extreme immaturity from them and Tony.
I now think AEW won't last. Shame really, competition is good but they're going to be eaten alive with how good WWE is right now. And with the attitude that chased Punk away.
Yeah. Punk has a part in what happened. He has to learn sometimes you need to filter. Especially when you sitting next to the perceived boss. Bucks have to realize that "hey this guy is really pissed "right or wrong." maybe we should wait to have a conversation. Maybe use a mediator. Tony issue is he is the boss in title. Vince has his history of dumb shit, but nobody ever doubted he was the boss. After Punk came back, the EVPs didn't do what you said. Wouldn't be men and just sit down with Punk. Like I said Punk has his part in it as well.
CM Punk has all the motivation in the world to make this work in WWE just to spite the Elite and show them what AEW lost by not being mature and doing business.
Thats because Smarky Khan is a god damned imbecile.....The smark has all the booking in the world staring him right in the face a CMFTR v The Elite feud, a Punk v Jungle Boy feud but instead of being the boss and telling the precious EVPs man up, find their balls and be big boys. The booking in AEW is trash, they have matches on cards just to have matches on cards, instead of building things that actually have a purpose. The "booker of the year" needs to hire some bookers or use the people he has who know what they're doing and start actually being a boss.

Well, wwe is about to sign new network deal and there's huge chance network will throw low number contracts saying Vince is not running anymore and there's no bankable stars for TV audience and young audiences wants to stay in internet... Bring in punk who has been recognized by wwe tv audiences, small but definitely mainstream and huge polarised figure for internet community.... He's recent controversy at aew is a plus because cm punk might have better run than aew just to destroy them..
I did, I remember when Chris Jericho said " Punk will return, not a year from now but eventually because business is business". And this was when Jericho AEW from WWE.
It’s funny to hear them say it. “It’s not about the person, it’s about the business.” Punk said it himself, “I know I’m just a spoke on the wheel, it will keep turning when I’m gone.”
He's right about younger fans experiencing something new. Vince on Monday Night Raw announcing that he bought wcw was my earth shattering moment when I was a kid😂
Thank you Tarzan and the Young Cucks for bringing back CM Punk to where he belongs so i can actually watch him again. The TARGET employees aka EVPs did me a huge favor. CM Punk is back with the adults!
That crown reaction was described perfectly. It was a mix of happy and surprise. It reminded me of the crowd reaction when Malcolm Butler intercepted the pass at the goal line in the Super Bowl.
After Bloodline story, down the line: “Ladies and Gentlemen my name is Paul Heyman…and I present to you The Dangerous Alliance. Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, Bron Breakker.” Let’s do this!
Can I just take a moment to say that Bubba Ray and Mark Henry are AMAZING podcasters? Bubba bring insight and emotion, and Mark is so, so insightful and wise. Dave keeps the pace going topic wise… This show is amazing!
It was my first live event that I've ever been to and all I can say is I'm sold for life and there were definitely boos whenever someone's Chanted CM Punk but of course all of a sudden when that music hits right as we're all about to leave every single one of them starts cheering along with the rest 😂
Love the crowd comparisons. Reminded me of Liverpool's 4th goal in the 4-3 match with Barcelona. Some excellent takes there from the guys. Big night tonight and I'm sure they'll stick the landing.
What a fabulous podcast. It was indeed an incredible pop and the timing was off the charts. I never thought I'd see a bigger pop than Punk's return in AEW (which was outrageous let's not forget). Magical stuff. Punk is indeed Top of the Pops. Other than "Tables" obviously :0)
The Punk reaction reminded me of a football (soccer) match back in 2013 where FC Porto scored against Benfica 2-1 in the 90th min and the crowd went ballistic. Literally a guttural roar so loud way above the average decibel.
Nobody is going to. Especially not when the owner is more concerned with being a buddy to the locker room, constantly catering to his precious EVPs and letting everyone do whatever they want. Tony Khan is garbage when it comes to booking, he's a smark smashing together action figures. He has several guys in the back who he could literally have do the booking, at the very least work with him on the booking. Not every talent has amazing ideas, you need to have a boss that can say no. You need to have bookers who actually know how to book. No company is ever going to compete with WWE when they're doing their best to only cater to the indie crowd. There is a ceiling on the indie crowd. You need to work on drawing in a general audience, not just the deathmatch crowd.
It is a bit surprising because Punk ain't like the other wrestler, he was extremely mad about them and butthurt. He didn't need to go to WWE too financially he was alright and could find a huge contract elsewhere too but i think he knows is reputation and career got hurt in AEW so he see WWE able to repair that. Look at what WWE did to Cody. WWE have a smarter fanbase than AEW which is like a super protective fanbase but goes on delusional comments to protect it and boost it that make no sense. The fanbase of AEW is one reason it doesn't bring other fans and Tony Khan didn't helped he went agressive right of the bat and was cocky and throwed insult at WWE Staff, WWE and is fanbase. Not, Karma is hurting him.
Think about this. On the same day, WWE not only brings back Punk but Randy Orton as well. Over at AEW they was celebrating the return of "Danhausen?" Right 🤣👍
Look I will be the first to admit, not a huge fan of Punk, but I cant deny the goosebumps I got listening to that reaction from the crowd on Saturday. To me that's what wrestling is all about.
mark henry mentioned a point about finding out snitches, when news broke that wwe wrestlers were told that punk was 100% not coming to wwe, sounded like they were trying to find snitches

I agree with Bully 💯 about hell freezing over. People tend to forget that CM Punk literally went back to WWE before he joined AEW. It was on a WWE Backstage show. From that moment, I knew that he'd come back.
That was a separate thing tho… that show was literally a FOX creation, not a WWE network thing… it was basically their (FOXs) version sports center except it only covered pro wrestling in WWE… so technically he was working for Fox and not WWE
I looked at the clock and said thats weird the ppv is ending kind of early. Turn to my daughter and tell her how crazy would it be if CM Punk came out after all the hype of the last match and Randy Orton's return. Punks music hits a second later. I was in Shock!!! Even with the music and graphics playing I was still waiting to actually see him to believe it.
I have a feeling that WWE and AEW secretly working together..My theory is, They have been working together by secretly trading talent ex: rousey=cargil, edge=punk
Bully is spot on about the crowd reaction being lightning in a bottle moment. That wasn’t a pro wrestling reaction. That was pro sports reaction for a home town hero. Thats how sports crowds react to a megastar or a wild cup winning goal. It blew the roof off the arena and Punk had the crowd in the palm of his hand. Dude is a superstar.
Austins pop when Foley won the title, HHH's return, and Punks return Saturday all had that type of roar in the pop that Bully is talking about. Once it was known In Living Color put out a remastered version of Cult of Personality it was a forgone conclusion he was returning
this is the best and most BALANCED perspective coming from 2 legends. you usually hear people be biased, or shit on today’s product of pro wrestling but this keeps people wanting to watch the new stuff from every promotion.
I think this a big deal for a generation of viewers that was there for Punk leaving. I hear Bully’s point but Brett/Shawn, Bruno, Warrior was from embattlements of decades past. The Punk situation was over the most recent decade. So, Punk returning is the freshest controversial thing in this generations minds.
I'm saying this as someone who supports and roots for AEW (I'm a fan of both companies): AEW should be embarrassed. What a total mismanagement of a megastar. Amateurs by comparison. That was my initial reaction: head shaking that a bunch of morons let their arrogance and entitlement result in such a monumental fumble of the ball. Punk walking into Survivor Series was AEW fumbling the ball and giving up the entire game. Clowns, and super super frustrating.
Punk’s pop reminded me of the LoD pop at 1991. There’s a point where the msg crowd starts chanting LoD and you can watch Hawk’s eyes and he gets lost in the moment, punk does the same when they chant cm punk on his return Edit:bubba said it best it was a hogan pop, it wasn’t a stone cold pop, it was the road warrior pop, it was an unique pop
I mean that's pretty obvious there were only like 17 thousand people at the ppv compared to like 50 thousand+ at WrestleMania. But the Hardy's are just jobbers in aew now.
The problem with punk in AEW wasn't cm punk it was the fact that you had a bunch of empty-headed Indy New Japan guys who wanted to Big Time CM punk because their EVPs like that means something

You guys explained it so well. It's so fun to hear the wrestling veteran's perspective. Great show!
CM Punk is gonna be on Monday Night RAW tonight. I never thought I would see the day.
and the first hour of monday night raw tonight is 100% commercial free.
Fucking insane brother can’t waitttt
ITS GLOBBERINGGG TIMEEEEEE
Right? It’s the first time I’ve been so excited to watch a RAW in years
Purdy dumb
I did, I remember when Chris Jericho said " Punk will return, not a year from now but eventually because business is business". And this was when Jericho AEW from WWE.
It’s funny to hear them say it. “It’s not about the person, it’s about the business.” Punk said it himself, “I know I’m just a spoke on the wheel, it will keep turning when I’m gone.”
We haven’t heard a pop like that ever. When the fans are so loud u can’t hear the music u know u r the man.
He's right about younger fans experiencing something new. Vince on Monday Night Raw announcing that he bought wcw was my earth shattering moment when I was a kid😂
Mine was when Bobby Heenan was holding the big gold belt on Wrestling Challenge in August of 1991, and saying Ric Flair was coming to the WWF
Thank you Tarzan and the Young Cucks for bringing back CM Punk to where he belongs so i can actually watch him again. The TARGET employees aka EVPs did me a huge favor. CM Punk is back with the adults!
Lol absolutely the voice of the voiceless is back I fucking love it
That crown reaction was described perfectly. It was a mix of happy and surprise. It reminded me of the crowd reaction when Malcolm Butler intercepted the pass at the goal line in the Super Bowl.
I wonder how many times Tony Khan has sat down put his hands on his head and said what have I done? 😂😂😂😂
"This is fine"...
8 months later , so far so good!!!
Well im glad CM Punk Return has lead me to this Podcast.
Absolutely CM PUNK, is best for business for wwe!!100%🎯🤑👍
We need more mark Henry !! I want an entire podcast of mark just talking opinions and memories and what makes sense in the business 😂
Brilliant comparison
thank you guys! Love the podcast!! stay safe my brothers! Much love!!
Hell Freezing Over would be Bischoff shaking Vince's Hand and them hugging it out.
I have a feeling this will be punks best run of his career
What a fabulous podcast. It was indeed an incredible pop and the timing was off the charts. I never thought I'd see a bigger pop than Punk's return in AEW (which was outrageous let's not forget). Magical stuff. Punk is indeed Top of the Pops. Other than "Tables" obviously :0)
The Punk reaction reminded me of a football (soccer) match back in 2013 where FC Porto scored against Benfica 2-1 in the 90th min and the crowd went ballistic. Literally a guttural roar so loud way above the average decibel.
Liverpool vs Barcelona 👀
@@TheFinishedArticlenaaahh
@@AXWforever You’re right… thats was louder
Liverpool vs Barcelona
Roma vs Barcelona
It's been nearly 10 years, I believe things will be different this time around, at least i hope it does
Man, Mark henry is wise. He is a great asset to the wrestling business.
Mark knows WWE is unbeatable , AEW tried and did their best 3:40
their best? Tony Khan has no idea what the heck he is doing ....
The AEW fans destroyed AEW
This has got to be one of the most incoherent comments I have ever read. Try punctuation bro.
This podcast needs to be listened and re listened by a lot of IWC members and by some AEW Wrestlers
fact
TK need this one also
Personally......I'm glad to see punk back!! ....... and both bully and Mark ON POINT!!!! Yes sir
Think about this. On the same day, WWE not only brings back Punk but Randy Orton as well. Over at AEW they was celebrating the return of "Danhausen?" Right 🤣👍
I can't believe they didn't compare this to the Triple H pop when he came back from his injury. That was one of biggest pops I've ever heard in WWE.
Different comparison, HHH left cause of injury, the wrestlers they mentioned left due to personal reasons or bad blood.
Tonight going be the most anticipated episode since the pipe bomb
The pipe bomb show wasn't anticipated it just happened
23:48 Mark Henry lettin Ryback know how the entire wrestling community feels….
Kudos for the Kirk Gibson home run comparison
He also did that for the Detroit Tigers in 1984.
The good ole stooge test
I'm glad punk came back. He needs a good final run. The immature trampoline cowboys messed it all up in aew. It worked our for the best, it looks like
Found the cornette bird

Not trampoline cowboys. They are not boys, they have a body of divas. They don’t look like wrestlers and do synchronised dancing in the ring
It definitely isn’t the most shocking, Eric Bischoff showing up on Raw was hell freezing over. Hell Shawn and Bret shaking hands was hell freezing over. This is shocking but not the most shocking ever. Mark has one of the best shocker moments, salmon jacket baby 😅
We all now see why Cody left.
That Mark Henry Ryback shot is spot on
Raw is going to do record ratings tonight and I'm sure that Tony will be watching and crying.
🤣🤣🤣 no doubt he’ll be raging with a big bag on Charlie next to him 😂😂
I have a feeling that WWE and AEW secretly working together..My theory is, They have been working together by secretly trading talent ex: rousey=cargil, edge=punk
I am still in shock that CM Punk returned to the WWE what a great time to be alive 😂
Punk went to the WWE months ago. He just had to work Tony into giving him his release before it happened.
Could be, could very well be
Triple H is just a master at this business. He's gonna take WWE to heights never before dreamed of.
Austins pop when Foley won the title, HHH's return, and Punks return Saturday all had that type of roar in the pop that Bully is talking about. Once it was known In Living Color put out a remastered version of Cult of Personality it was a forgone conclusion he was returning
I'd maybe include Edge's Royal Rumble return to that list. An awesome moment for sure.
I’m from the UK…and I’m so glad Bully Ray used a football (soccer) reference. It was such a visceral reaction
I haven’t heard a crowd roar like that in quite awhile.
Mark is right. You can complain about CM Punk but if you’re on shows with him, everyone will make more money which is best for business
Tony Khan sided w/the Bucks & Jack Perry > Punk & in some ways Cody too 😂 perception is reality….AEW is now fully perceived as a place run by a goof
this is the best and most BALANCED perspective coming from 2 legends. you usually hear people be biased, or shit on today’s product of pro wrestling but this keeps people wanting to watch the new stuff from every promotion.
Finally, after nearly a decade away from professional wrestling, CM Punk returns!
Ha.
As stevie richards said - get paid big and get out healthy. Its business plain and simple.
You can hear the salt and bias in the tone of Dave lmfao
How’s clown he’s clearly happy
Always

I'm here trying to agree with you but I simply can't. What video are you watching?
Cm punk is very interesting and smart person that's why the fans like him
I think this a big deal for a generation of viewers that was there for Punk leaving. I hear Bully’s point but Brett/Shawn, Bruno, Warrior was from embattlements of decades past. The Punk situation was over the most recent decade. So, Punk returning is the freshest controversial thing in this generations minds.
Bubba’s words at the 29:00 mark ARE THE GOSPEL TRUTH!!!! Atta boy!! PREACH!!!
Thank you Busted Open podcast. Here from InTheClutch and now subscribed!
Punk’s pop reminded me of the LoD pop at 1991. There’s a point where the msg crowd starts chanting LoD and you can watch Hawk’s eyes and he gets lost in the moment, punk does the same when they chant cm punk on his return
Edit:bubba said it best it was a hogan pop, it wasn’t a stone cold pop, it was the road warrior pop, it was an unique pop
Mark Henry is so awesome and, I am loving the Artwork on his wall.
Sorry but The Hardy Boys WM 33 entrance was way louder then CM Punks
I mean that's pretty obvious there were only like 17 thousand people at the ppv compared to like 50 thousand+ at WrestleMania. But the Hardy's are just jobbers in aew now.
@MysticKing777 yeah but just think if that happened in a smaller arena when they came back
Yeah
Well they been around forever too
These 3 guys and add Tommy dreamer reallly are great story tellers and their ability to talk about current topics really is a great listen
Get Punk on the program it would be intertaning to say the least.
Once I found out about that Cult of Personality Remaster a couple days before SS, I knew CM Punk was coming back.
The problem with punk in AEW wasn't cm punk it was the fact that you had a bunch of empty-headed Indy New Japan guys who wanted to Big Time CM punk because their EVPs like that means something
