Imagine having a song that's almost 20 years old, that has that much power over a crowd of 50,000 people where they'd dance like that. And i'm getting chills 15 years after watching it.
11matt11 they’re is literally thousands of artists that could do that the Rolling Stones, The Killers, Smashing Pumpkins, U2 , Bob Dylan , Jay Z , Eminem , Drake, even crappy artists like Bieber
There are several songs like that. These guys have hardly corned the market on "lasting songs."
He looks like that 40 year old IT technician at every office ever.
“I’ll fix 500 computers and I’ll fix 500 more, just to be the man who fixed a thousand computers”
you know you've made it when you can live off the royalties of one song for the rest of your lives. Hats off to them!!
And they've released 11 studio albums, the latest one in 2018. They have a lot of royalty to collect. =)
A great song!
Ratty songs also generate that sort of cash....
This song, however, has melodic, harmonic and cultural value.
Strangely enough this song didn't even get in the top ten here in the uk there best charting song was letter from america which got to no.3 there cover of king of the road reached no.9 beating it as well, but this is such a sing along song it's this that get's remembered
I would find it impossible to find a human being that does not like these guys.
When you go to a festival and your geography teacher is headlining it...
Mance Anon . Great comment! Actually made me properly LOL! 😂🤣😂! xx
Das muß total super sein!Da kriegst du Autogramme ohne Ende! 😋
For the next 25 years these guys are going to be rolled out at summer festivals, sing this 1 song, collect their million bucks and go home. Respect.
I'm not Scottish but I feel proud to be Scottish after this song.
Best road trip song ever ! My husband of 50 years was exactly the man in the song. He was awesome. The kids and I chose this song to send him off on his next journey to be an angel in heaven. We sang it loud as he was taken away. He passed 11 weeks ago. Cheers to you!
I love the fact he needs a lanyard just to confirm he is performing and not adjusting the amplifiers.
I’ve seen a video of a security guard checking Brian May’s lanyard, I’d imagine almost every artist, no matter how famous, at a big event would have some kind of security to clear. Some just choose to hide their lanyards more than others.
@@VideobyKB I mean it doesn’t help when he is dressed like a 40 year old technician
He looks so much like a dad working in a IT office it cracks me up so much
Ted “I’m so sick of this song”
Marshall “don’t worry it comes around again”
Ted “what do you mean”....
I sent this to my sister over a decade ago when she had cancer. Cheered her up so much, I credit it with her cure. Now I'm self-quarantined coronavirus-style, and it's cheering me up. If I survive, I'll credit them again. Love me them Scots.
so you credit a song, rather than the doctors who actually saved your sister.
I'm an Englishman who believes in the UK and that the Scots are just, well, British (pace), but, very, very good luck to you.
You’ve made it big when 50,000 people know every word and sing along with you. Awesome
50? Mate there's probably 50k in the stands alone, probably more but still unbelievable support, an im English 👏
What must it be like knowing you've written a song that's brought so much enjoyment and pleasure to so many people?
Ted: "and that kids is how your Uncle Marshall and me became best friends."
Only in scotland could two gingers be so appreciated
Higher pain threshold, look younger than your age and there is also the rarity value .
2:53-2:56, Wow, You can tell these guys are loved, a person is ligit waving her/his crutch in the air! Respect to The Proclaimers!
Oh crUtch.....I looked long and hard for what would have been an amazing feat of flexibility and gymnastics
It's amazing how much power this one song has. Here I am all the way in South Africa in December 2020 still loving this tune...
Please tell the rest of South Africa to stop producing/exporting oranges.
It's just...they're just...they're fucking awful. 🤮
Saw them live in Australia a couple of years ago and they were terrific. Proud to be Scottish.
This song is a real motivator. It tells you, no matter how tough things get, you've got to keep moving forward. I always keep this song to heart.
There’s always that group of people that sing the ‘Da da da dah’ bit too early 😂
It's impossible to sing this without a strong Scottish accent.
I learned the word "haver" existed because of this song. Why isn't that word isn't used and embraced in America English is beyond me.
Well if you sing this without a Scottish accent then you're a dork haha
0:30 the one with the guitar. The smile on his face says it all. A whole stadium exploding for a song they made years ago. Magic!
March 24th, 2023. Still the Gold Standard!!! Does not get any better!!! Thank You❤
Hard not to love two middle-aged dads looking like they pop by on their lunch break casually command a crowd of 50.000 people.
Hahaha that's Scotlands unofficial national anthem that.
Nope, Flower of scotland isn't the official and im sure people class that as the national anthem
Luv the crowd's reaction when they recognize the song. Have never seen crowds jump up and down in unison so well here in the states. This is a great feel good tune.
@Mark Apparently Argentina has a reputation for picky audiences, they have a history of throwing stuff at the acts they choose to dislike.
The Proclaimers... Scotland's gift to the world. What an amazing duo!!! From: A fan for life!!!
@@SMc-iq1np You're funny for someone who still sells encyclopedias...is that green tie you're wearin' even yours?
Scotland's gift to the world?? For One marginally successful Hit back in the 90's???
Come on you dolt, learn some history Geez
@@guytansbariva2295 Hey big DUMMY, how many 90's artist do you know that came out of Scotland that had one of their songs in a popular movie like "Shrek"? IDIOT 🤣
Everybody please rise for the National Anthem.
In these times this is the perfect definition of the real man that sacrafices in his labors to keep his family. Most men walk those miles everyday for their woman and children, with real love, no resentment or judgment. This is certainly a message worth proclaimming.
If this doesn’t cheer you up you’re probably dead
I don't think I'm dead but I was upset that his falsetto wasn't what it was due to age. Makes me feel old, which I'm taking hard.
vtrmcs it’s obviously. People are always getting older and lose their potential
Just gonna put this out there: Scots and Irish folk all have impeccable rhythm. It's impressive and I love it.
@@markkelly2261Bah.
Just appreciate the whole planet - nevermind the stupid borders. 🙄
This song is so inspirational it made a crippled man able to stand again and raise his crutch at 2:53
If I'm ever in a depressed funk this song gets me right out of it. It's physically impossible to listen to this song and stay depressed. Thanks guys! You're my antidepressant of choice. No side effects!
The energy of the crowd is amazing, looks like everyone had an awesome time
It's really special when bands write songs that can make 50,000+ people act like HAPPY KIDS all at the same time!!!
This song is a love song, a drinking song, a marching song, a motivational song and a de facto national anthem all rolled into one. No wonder it is so bloody huge.
Such a happy lady in the white T-shirt to the left at 1:40 :)
I'm a Turkish Cypriot Londoner born nearly 60 years...
Still gives me a buzz listening to this 35 year old tune❤
Only n Scotland do you see Scottish mega stars wearing their stage passes around their necks! 😂🏴🏴🏴
Let’s be honest lad every famous Irish and Scottish stars genuinely look like they belong at the bar 😂🇮🇪🏴
Whenever you feel bad just listen to this.
Will take you to next level ❤️❤️❤️
Striding out, into a crowd of YOUR people, and belting straight into an absolute National anthem! Awesome!
Watching the crowd fully enjoy the show and singers perform from bottom of their heart give me chill.
Imagine being one at this concert, I would have passed out for sure. What a show I would say 100%
Amazing. I wish the USA where I live could be this unified over a couple of guys who are so talented
I can’t imagine how amazing must feel seeing all that people enjoying and jumping your song.
2023 who is still listening to this amazing Song?
I am!! My late husband and I use to play their album endlessly in our car on long journeys. They are brilliant!!😊
I'm 67 and still enjoy this song very much.
I am 57 and still remember when this came out , awesome song!
Cheers,
🎉🎉🎉
Haha I’m 70+ and still love this song it makes me happy in a very unhappy world , just love all Gods children 🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
mate lm Scottish im 62,,,,,lm not old,,,,,neither are you,,,,just a number pal.
Look at the crowd totally into this tune!❤
I like when the other brother laughs at the beginning when he sees the crowd's reaction. one of my favourite songs. Greetings from Poland XXX
This is probably the most iconic Scottish song ever since it's known worldwide. Love this song! Even David Tennant and the Doctor Who crew made a music video with these guys when he and showrunner Russell T Davies left the series.
"There's a live 8'?"
"Yes"
"Any good bands?"
"Not sure"
"Are the proclaimers playing?"
"Probably"
"Playing 500 miles?"
"Definitely"
"Give me 50,000 tickets"
My Learned Fellows. One loves The Proclaimers, love Scotland, love the Scottish people. 💝
They honestly look like a few dads who were down the park with their kids and decided to give it a crack😂
This makes me really happy. Good job, UA-cam recommendations
No phones no cameras, just thousands of people jumping up and down and enjoying the music!
I wish I could rewind time to those simple days!
Spirit of Scotland..blessed country, lovely people..
Dieses Lied ist so alt wie mein Sohn.Er ist 35 Jahre alt und ich liebe dieses Lied immer noch sehr 🎶🎶😍🥰
I'm a Sassanech but my mum was Sottish so my heart and love has always been with the Scot's, a great people with a fantastic sense of humour and thet have been treated diabolically over the years but are a truly great nation in their own right ... This song is fantastic and these guys are great and should I come to Scotland I hope and pray they'd accept me !!!
When this song came out I was sharing a house with a Scottish lass & even she didn't know what "hevering" meant!!
GOOD TIMES BACK IN THE 80s!!
Impossible not to crack a smile while listening to this. Legends.
This song is so epic!! There are zero times I've heard it that I haven't felt better after.. Classic!
My mam 98 yrs old in a care home all residents loved this lost Mam at 1o1 remember how happy this made all residents ❤
Look at that not a single smartphone in sight, just everybody enjoying the atmosphere and vibes. I'd be the exact same in their positions 😍😍😍🏴🏴🏴🏴
the crowds reaction to the song is so insane! so epic 😂
They do proclaim their dedication to whoever they're singing it for.
No song can stir up the crowd like this song, fantastic.
The voice by John Farnham can get an Aussie crowd going like 1000 miles..
That band you can and want to sing every damn song!
reminds me of being in tenerife, with a very very special woman at the time, she was and still is an absolute stunner. my own stupid fault that I let her go. i had the best 12 months of my life with her, never forget you. love you always. x
This is a very wholesome song. I just love it !! That's the kind of men the world needs.
I used to hear this mostly everyday on STV when Scotland was in the World Cup 98 when I was only 16. I'm 37 now.......ouch. One of the best Scottish songs ever.
Those guys don't even need to sing. That song is singing itself. They just need to be there and that's it.
A very charismatic band, a cool song, and an enthusiastic crowd...the perfect combination! You Scottish folks are look so cool, it makes me want to visit next time I'm in Ireland...May God bless you, our Celtic cousins!!!
Everybody loves Scotland. These guys draw you in to somewhere special. Everybody stay safe
the Scots are a proud people ...
I fell in love with the song, feeling it as the ending theme of a very beautiful film.
the movie is Body Thieves - Burke & Hare
we Italians should learn from you Scots
So glad I'm from this era...look at creativity and energy ..happiness...low inflation and you were truly free...I feel sorry for this generation...
“Och Aye The Noo” the fantastic the utterly superb Proclaimers a couple of Scotland’s finest exports.
Love to see crowd like thissssssss...
I saw them live in Preston, it's not a massive stage but it's decent. Play this song anywhere and you get this response, even in pubs
I heard them for the first time in 1988, I saw them live 10 years ago. As a Swede, I am proud to be Scottish.
They might have only had one “hit” in the USA, but it’s on hell of a hit, an icon. nobody who has ever heard it will forget it.🤘
Can we all agree that they both look so good!?They were 43 yrs old when they performed here!
Glad to see the Romanian flag, hanging up there as well. Respect!
Maybe there's a Romanian flag I didn't notice, but the one I think you're referring to is flanked by the flags of Comoros and the CAR, so it's most likely the flag of Chad. The two flags look almost identical.
And it is the probably is the Romanian flag they most likely had every flag there
Real musicians who mastered their art & know how to reach the people 👍
I'm a metalhead and I love this song.
I saw these guys in 1988 in Australia, One of the best live shows I have ever seen!
I remeber doing the doors at a we pub in Rutherglen in scotland and it was a 21st party as soon as this came on the whole place was jumping forgot i was working and i joined in what a night thank you Rutherglen for the memories what a bloody amazing night
It's so life affirming to see crowds of joyous people when you are feeling so isolated by social distancing, take heart everyone these times will return when we can all touch and feel each other without fear.
What an inspirational song to perform in that setting with that crowd! Once in a lifetime!!!!! The magic of music!!!!
I'd walk 500 miles to hear them, some classics are meant to be legends
It's a song of dedicated, motivated pilgrimage, love and loyalty - from brothers who have sung many religious-sounding or spiritually-full songs.
It transmits love and meaning, simple though it is.
The Holy Spirit woz 'ere.
Just fantastic, the crowd enjoyment and participation is wonderful.
They certainly know how to get the crowd going , great song takes me back , to a much more pleasant time .
The amazing Jerry Donahue was hired as the guitar player on the original recording and he told me he first heard it while watching the movie Benny and Joon with his daughter Christina. Jerry is a genius guitarist and wonderful person cheers to Jerry. A fan.
This song brings joy to so many people! It's lovely to see, and amazing.
Watching during quarantine. Someday we'll have concerts like this again. And what a party it will be!
I always remember years ago someone saying in a comment " they have no image" . Someone came back with the reply that they have a very strong image. So true.
I love me some Scotland, beautiful country and even more beautiful people especially the ladies....
Love You Scotland..Love the Proclaimers, it's not all bad to be a one hit wonder.
Every time I have a bad day, I watch this video of two casually dressed blokes singing one of the most iconic songs with a crowd singing with them... Makes me happy again
Yeah, I swear they work in my IT department.
@@mansnotbot4160 Yeah, looks like they took an hour off just to play this :D
Vojta Brablc went on strike
Man's not Bot are you ‘man’s not Bot’ because of that TV classic; First Dates and the ‘man’s not hot’ scenes... hilarious scenes and genius name. I share your sense of humour if so... though clearly not your wit, or I’d have that name 😂🤣😂👍
Yep. Sometimes think of whether they get tired of playing this, their one big hit. But you can be sure they never get tired of watching the audience light up with joy when they sing it.
