- In this video I give a full in depth review and test drive of a 2002 BMW 525i. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I show the car idling and the exhaust note as well as take it on a thorough test drive through the city and highway. A through review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
That car is one of my favorite BMW. My cousin had one in white, and personally I loved that car, even the smell of leather and wood, along with the seat comfort and handling. I have very fond memories of that car.

I leased this same model from 2002-2005. It was an excellent car in all ways, except for the standard drivers seat which mine came with. It had no lumbar adjustment and was very uncomfortable on long trips. also had a bad resistor (or something) in the heater fan circuit that caused the battery to run down. Took dealer 2 tries to find it. 2.5 engine was superb.
I love the sound of the ENGINE when you go on the highway :) I LOVE BMW !!!

People in Europe are recycling these cars, as the build quality is so good, they simply renew engine gearbox etc and they have a car that drives better than most new cars and is better built

@dier2tte Spot on, only the 540i and the M5 have a six speed manual transmission.
The auto was an option on all models, always a 5 speed.
I have a 1998 automatic 535i.
When I get older and when I get successful, I told my mother I would by her a BMW.

I got a 1999 BMW M-528i Touring. Same on the inside. Only the controls on the roof are only the sunroof controls. And mine has a sport steering wheel.

The car looks pretty potent when you drive it hard but around town its so groany in this video due to the M50 2.5 litre engine having no real low down torque compared to the 2.8...
It really is an engine better suited to a manual box and the E36 shape.

Below is an example from Denmark,
BMW 525i, 2002, with 159,000 miles on the clock.. It costs $24,536.
This car was the cheapest I could find, on Denmarks biggest used-car-site!
The rest of the 525i's from 2002, cost between $30-35,000 (they have fewer miles on the clock).
The reason for this, is that in Denmark we have a 180% vehicle tax :-(
Oh, and did I mention that we pay $8 per gallon of petrol? :-P It sucks!!

That applies for every german sporty sedan ;) A friend of mine has an A4, and i don't like it. Go for an A5 for sportyness and for an A7 for the better looks. If you have the money to spare take the S5/S7 :)

@viktoryeah Not true, some cars suit an auto box far more than a manual, a manual Mercedes S-Class would seem simply wrong, an E39 5 series suits both manual and auto.

What your comment supposed to mean?I can see You are a Lexus fan.I have driven a 2006 LS 430.Yes,it is very comfortable and quiet.I am 1.96 cm and felt cramped there,like in most Japanese cars.They are made by short people for short people(NO OFFENCE). Besides driving experience is bland. That Lexus IS NOT EXCITING car TO DRIVE at all.

520i dont have tds engine it's 520i 150hp and 170hp and diesel was 520d 136hp,then u have 525i 192hp and 525d 163hp,then 528i 193hp,530i 231hp and 530d 184 and 193hp,535i V8 235hp,540i V8 again 286hp and M5 V8 400hp of i forgot u have also 523i 170hp whit M52 engine 24valve witch is very good engine ! cheers

I watched this video probably like 1000 times few years ago, when my dad sold the 523i... i was really sad and upset, i liked that car so much..
I loved to watch your video becouse of the sound experience, you can hear most of the "interrior noises" of the e39, engine... it's some sort of "ASMR" 👍
Now i have my own e39 for more than 2 years and i really love it, i tried to drive so many newer and "better" cars, but e39 really has something special that you can't find in any other car 👍
A black e39 with full leather and wood, angel eyes and tinted backwindows is nicely intimidating :D I love the looks of that car, it is like it is darkness in car form.
The old generation of BMWs had so nice and simple lines.... they're just timeless.
And quality was fantastic: amazing cars.

I have one 2002 E39 525i Black 70K miles. Perfect smooth and pure power. I love it so much. Put on shame majority of sedans now a days.
And why do you think BMW has the imagine and reputation? Because they fooled a lot of people? Or because they've been consistently making the best sports sedans for the past....40 years or so? Gotta love people who cant understand why some cars are considered so much better than others...well, once you get a drivers license, go do a test drive. And you clearly have no experience with cars, saying german cars are a bad investment...all of the 400-500 000 km's Mercs in Europe would disagree.
Recently picked up one of these, insanely beautiful to drive, has a true soul.

i test drove one of these today...the steering is tight and handling is predictable. ran like a bat outta hell. simply put-the germans don't make shit
@BiGPiMPiN591 All bimmers, E39 model, came with manual gearbox . ( 520 d - 530 d, 520i - 540 i and the M5 )
Gearbox has 5 or 6 speed . Usually e39 525i model comes with5 speed manual.

@narkotikasss this is how we drive in U.S. 'cause we have actual traffic laws over here. It may be different in Europe who knows.

I own a 07 manual mustang gr350 twin turbo and a 99 540i turbo automatic, and I take the BMW out more for the fact that I'm more relaxed in the car. I don't have to worry about the clutch. And if I came across someone on a highway that's being a dick. I just drop it into manual mode. There is a little difference but I'm not complaining. This car is perfect for someone that plays both sides, sport and luxury.

I love the sound of an inline six... I mean I prefer that of a Volvo seeing as I have a 960 (2.9 I6), but this sounds great as well!

How do you know it's got 98000 miles do you have paperwork to go with the car just because the speedo says 98000 miles doesn't mean the car has 98000 MI very easy to change the cluster do some investigation on that before you buy it if that's what you're thinking about doing not always what you see is what it is

Our family used to have this in blue. I really miss this car :( The cupholders sucked though. I had a really big rootbeer and it fell out of the chupholder and all over the car.

My 2001 BMW 530i its a dream to drive but is get expensive with maintenance and parts but it does make 505hp because of the turbo added a cold air intake and a hot cam but it dyno at 505
Kyle thank you so much for this video... when I was little my dad had a '92 BMW 325is, black on black. He rolled/totaled it a few years back... what a devastation. When you started this car up it brought back so many memories... just the simple sounds of the dinger and starter. I could almost smell the leather... thanks again
why does the bimmer sounds lazy when it starts to accelerate on 2003 525i it makes a loud as soon it accelerate off start in 1st gear

@xsv75 But also, the fact is, BMW's built for US market aren't as well made as those built for European market. Same goes for all other european brands. The reason is, european cars are sold for literally 2-3 times less money in USA than in Europe, so a lot of quality checks and stuff like that is left out. Little imperfections are ignored, build quality and fit and finish is as good, but mechanically they should be the same, so no problems there if you take care of them.
@xsv75 BMW's are one of the most reliable car brands in the world, and only people in USA are complaining about their reliability, probably because they don't take care of the car. They don't service them at official BMW stations, they don't service them on time and overall just treat the car like it was a pick up truck. Also, fuel quality in USA up until recently was TERRIBLE, and modern engines don't like bad fuel.
I want to change the shift gears on my 95 525I it's a automatic and standard model is this possible to do?
it is possible to do but youll be paying alot for a bmw transmission change, especially with the vehicle being 95'
Acording to GasBuddy "an american site for fuel economy" it costs an average of 3.860USD per gallon, and one gallon is 3.78liters, so if you convert that its around 1.02USD dollar per liter.
So.. at the time i post this, at the current currency rates 1liter in USA is an average of 0.769 Euro

@TheMrkiddi Because it temporarily unlocks itself from the steering rod on the steering axle so you can move the wheel back and forth or up and down thats why when you set it to the position you want you hear a click because it clicks back into place. Our windstar is set up like that.
