It's all about the totality... I've seen partial's before, but the totality is a whole new ballgame... when there is still sun shining you can only see anything with glasses... during totality the entire sky goes dark, the temperature drops and when the moon is directly in front of the sun it creates something you've never seen nor will never see again...
It’s truly a life changing experience. It’s a weird, beautiful, sci-fi, spiritual experience. Your brain doesn’t even quite comprehend what you are seeing at first.
Drove up to Plattsburgh NY from NC for totality. It was truly amazing. It’s hard to put into words. I’m also a photographer. Got a pretty cool Timelapse photo of it. @kyleforemanphoto if you want to check it out.
I live in the path of the totality, I had seen the eclipse a few years ago as a partial eclipse and had the same reaction of "cool but why all the hype". Having seen the totality today was incredible, during the totality you can take your glasses off and easily look up and see a giant black dot surrounded by a halo of white light. Really amazing, plus its incredible to see the moon just shift past the sun enough for the first rays to come out and be unable to look without glasses anymore, that part made me really appreciate seeing the totality.
I've seen 95% eclipse before, took the drive for totality this time, the 5% difference is huge, took the drive to get to it and it was totally worth it, the next will be at 2044 then 2078 then 2099. The corona during the total eclipse is so cool to see!
Totality was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I drove 2 hrs and it was worth it. When you think of the chances in life to see one, totally worth it.
i saw the totality in Arkansas (drove from FL!) when the Moon started across the Sun it was cool, but unlike your experience there was anticipation of MORE. the countdown to totality was ELECTRIC. the switch from 99.9 covered to totality was almost shocking - even the tiniest sliver was too bright for naked eyes, then like a switch being flipped - totality & the corona! it was magic. when the sun reemerged everyone had to instantly look away & scramble for their glasses. it was well worth the trip & stress of changing plans for the upteenth time. now i want another! July 22, 2028 in Australia or New Zealand has a nice ring to it
I drove 28 hours round trip with my Dad to get into the path of totality, and after seeing it... we agreed we would easily do double that. Not only did we both agree that it was the most incredible thing we've ever seen, but we felt that it will likely end up being the most incredible thing we ever will see --- unless we get the chance to see another eclipse. I know that sounds dramatic, but it really is the truth haha. Since then we have both dramatically changed our lives. He has lost a bunch of weight, I gave up drinking alcohol, and we have both made significant lifestyle changes at work and within our relationships to live a life we are both more proud of. All of that after seeing something that only lasted 4 minutes. Hopefully that paints somewhat of a picture of how spectacular totality really is. --- Loved the video Simon!
You should have made the drive. Total eclipse is a bucket list item. 99% is the same as 94%. Everything dims, but honestly meh. It is neat to look through glasses and see the moon crossing, but Totality is different. For totality, you watch through the glasses and that crescent becomes a curved sliver. The sliver’s tips fade away, and you get a very short line (reminiscent of looking at a comet). Then, click, the light switch is turned off and it is utterly black through the glasses. You remove them to see a black holed sun with long wavy angel wings of pure white light fluttering and dancing around the void. It explodes into existence as you remove your glasses. It is mesmerizing. Meanwhile, all the animals quiet and you sit in an early nighttime setting. You see the bright planets (Venus was in full spectacular view today). As you enjoy the utter beauty, you want nothing more than to freeze time. You want that moment to go on just a little longer, but the fleeting nature of it is part of what makes it so special. I could hear the kids at school cheering from 5 blocks away. As the sun returned, I felt both thankful and a little sad that the moment was ending. Then, from somewhere in the neighborhood I hear through a serious sound system, the Beatles, “Here comes the sun,” as the moon slowly releases its grip on the sun. It made me smile and appreciate just how great a moment I had just experienced. So, yes, it’s different.
Witnessed both Total Eclipses in the past 7 years. First one at a LOUDON, TN Disc Golf Course. And yesterdays at Sunset Park DGC in Shelbyville, Indiana. Beyond words to describe them.
I was lucky enough to experience both as totals also. I was in SC for the first one and moved to OH and experienced it there! The amount of people that have experienced both as total eclipses probably aren't a ton. Definitely fortunate to have been able to.
I live in MA and made the drive up to Vermont. Totality is definitely way different than partial. I've seen one or two partial solar eclipses before including the last one in 2017, but this was something different for sure. 360 degree sunset, dark, COLD, and of course getting to see the ring of light around the moon without glasses. Didn't hit traffic on the way there but the way home was some of the worst traffic I've ever been in. I think it was worth it though.
nothing compares to a total eclipse. Most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Have been lucky enough to see 2 in my life and highly encourage anyone to make the trip to get in the path of totality
I saw totality and what was amazing was how much the temperature changed and it was almost like someone hits a dimmer switch on the sun for awhile. And then seeing what looks like a sunset on the entire horizon. It was way better than I could have expected
Was my 1st totality and it was a totally different experience! When its dark-ish like it was for you all of a sudden it goes totally dark like someone pinched out the sun like a candle! For like 3 min its dark as night, you can see the stars, and the horizon looks like the most amazing sunset or rise! I did not expect it to be that quick all of a sudden and that dark!
Any partial does not come close to totality. Drove 5 hrs one way to get in path. Best trip ever! So worth it. Having seen partials before, I was like you. Now I understand why a total is so special. I could see Venus and Jupiter. Most cellphones make it appear brighter than it really is. You have to experience a total at least once and you will understand.
I tried the same thing today...glow disc, but during the totality. It was a three hour drive to Poplar Bluff, MO. I almost aced with a glow firebird during the total eclipse. Totally worth the drive to see the full eclipse. It is an experience that should be shared because it is impossible to explain the totality to anyone who wasn't there with you.
Casey brought some good luck to you Simon, and that means one thing, you'll win at Jonesboro!.....Excellent ace Casey & you''ll get a top 10 at Jonesboro, Casey White!
First ever total ecplise And seeing 53 years of almost total eclipses, there is no explaining it. That sure was cool. I have a basket in my yard and made sure to make some cool shots during totality. Fun day.
thankfully I live in Vermont and didn't have to leave my house to see the eclipse in totality. pretty sweet looking. def got pretty dark as it happened.
Even if the sun is showing at .5% it's still too bright for your eyes. The extent to which you can enjoy it is still going to be with the glasses. The moment it hits totality though, you can take your glasses off, you can see stars, there is a shimmering white ring around the moon, you can the solar corona pulsing off the sun, and there is a 360 degree sunset. It's amazing.
I was in Northern Vermont, where I live, during totality. You're right, the difference between 95% and totality was mind-blowing. At 95%, you still couldn't look at the Sun at all with no glasses. The Sun was wicked bright still. All of a sudden, Bam! You could stare at the sun and comfortably see the Sun's corona. It was incredible. Like the whole sky was a movie screen. I had a great view of it from my place. There are some great courses up north here. I think you've played Black Falls, don't think you played Cold Hollow. We have the best woods golf around, and the best crew this side of the eclipse. Hit us up. I'll get you VIP.
We drove an hour an a half to see it in upland Indiana. For 2 and a half a minutes it was as dark as night, my total eclipse glowed on its own, and my family was all in awe. We had friends too and the moment was something our kids might not experience until 20 years from now!
While hangin with my kids in the backyard during the eclipse hour in southern NH, I got my first and second backyard ace, about 160 ft with a Proxy and a Zone.
My campus was in totality - we had a huge event and it went from day to night when it got to 100% coverage. We could see the clouds lighting up in the distance as the totality moved away as well. All of the birds were going crazy and it got so much colder for a few minutes!
quick tip for filming if you don't mind me saying... (feel free to disregard) crank your aperture so that in post when you 'punch in' the basket will be more in focus =)
Total eclipse is definitely worth a couple of hour drive. It is pretty magical hearing the crickets start almost immediately, the weird shadows, and then super dark. Last chance in our lifetime, so I'd argue it's worth it. I watched this one at 90+ percent and it wasn't much fun. Pretty similar to a normal eclipse.
Live right next to the path and I can definitely tell you, even 99.5% is completely different than 100%. It was amazing, I'll never get to see it again in my lifetime and I'm stoked I got to get out to Bingham in Maine and share that with my wife and kids.
I live in a totality area, it got so dark the street lights at our park kicked on. It was really erie, everything got super quiet and it was super cool. Would total eclipse again. Five stars
Totality was very impressive, and the party at Sugarbush in VT was such a great time. I heard Jay Peak was even crazier! But ya if you were trying to drive back towards Boston after... not a great time haha
I gotta say Eclipse plastic changed the glow game forever! My glow bag is an MVP trove and so beat in, I don't think I've said no to a dark round yet, in the Eclipse aura!
I drove about 3.5 hours south in Illinois to see the Totality. Found a nice park in Herrin, IL with a course. Tried to get a full round in but lots of people at the park made play difficult.
The totality passed through dayton ohio Simon and all I can say is .. I kind of hated on it and expected it to be kind of stupid... but it got so dark out the street lights came on, and it was an actual amazing experience. Gave me goosebumps.
Hey Simon, So here in Texas we got Total Totality! It was totally OVERWHELMING! I didnt expect it to be as cool as it was! It got DARK, Then It got DARRK!
The eclipse was great. I live in paris, texas so didnt have to travel for 100%. Played my local course and played with some out of towners. Got an ace a while back with your signed hex, that i won. Ive since dyed it and your signature hase rubbed off.
I drove 2 hours north in Maine to see it with my 4 year old and 2 year old. Totality blew all of our minds! The drive was absolutely worth it! I think a solar eclipse is like a Pokémon in that it evolves into something completely different once it reaches 100%. Vulpix is still very cool, but Ninetales is incredible!
love my eclipse Crave. Had that thing preordered because of how much I love the halloween Hex. I only got 1 of each so I'm hoping they make more down the road if I beat it up or lose one.
I think everyone should see a totality at least once in their life. I finally saw it in 2017; we're standing in a field with a cloudless sky, and suddenly it gets dark, like late dusk. The temperature drops fast enough to give me goosebumps (middle of Summer). A great big hawk lands next to us, like 10 feet away, and just looks at us like... "Is this how it ends?" There are birds all over the place that were flying and suddenly just landed wherever they were. It stays that way for a minute or two, then suddenly it's light again, the temperature spikes back up, and the hawk decides the world isn't ending and flies away. When it was over and the world felt like it went back to normal I thought, "Oh, that's how deities started. That had to be some terrifying shit before we knew what was happening."
I was in the path of totality and it was cloudy all day, we saw nothing except it get dark. Also, how about a bag update vid? Would love to see what the bag looks like for the new season.
I can vouch. I saw it in Totality and it is way more impressive than a partial or 95% eclipse. I'll prob never see one again in my lifetime unless i travel in 20 years for it.
We had 97% here, and I thought it was one of the coolest things I’ve seen. It was moving? The sun was just moving? I thought I was going crazy my wife and this other random lady assured me that it was in fact appearing to move. Plus the darkness it brought was…. Weird. Kind of dusk, but also something different. I was also disc golfing, and I thought that was really cool.
Please vlog more Simon!. I miss the putting practice on Jomez so much. I think you could bring it back in your own style. Just a suggestion....... peace! ✌
Being in the path of totality is so much better because you can actually take off your glasses during it and you see so much more and it gets way darker. I would probably drive an hour or two
Hey simon this will be my 1 message to you wanted to let you know I have been working on myself getting better at golfing I have a 450 foot side arm and my backhand furthest I've gotten is 420 feet so I am going to watch most of your videos on form so I can learn the backhand better and I have been putting and I can say this I am way more consistant than normal but look I switched from my right hand putting to left hand and yes it gave me consistantsy. I wish to play frisby golf by your side one day man you're are fantastic at golf and would love to get pointers and tips from you to becoming one of the greats I am sure I can get my backhand further but I have been doing foot work form, but pull back form will be next on my list so I am super consistant with the back hand but I will message more here and there so I let you know ahead of time if I joined any leagues or tournaments and let you know what I won man no matter if you see this message or respond. I'm Coming to the top! Been grinding for 7 years now my ADD with putting never really helped but switching to left hand made me to where I dont think about how I do my full form and follow through, and have fun playing with the pro players and casual rounds say Hi to vinny for me, and also kyle klein lives in michigan I have seen him once play he is a great player.
I started playing disc golf in the 80s. So when I read "Eclipse - Eclipse Ace?", I thought you were going to throw the old Discraft Eclipse. It was the great understable driver back then!
I still can't get over when someone commented that casey's runup is like a cartoon villian. love having him on the vlog! congrats on 200k subs simon!
That’s so spot on lmao I can’t unsee it now
If Quasimodo played disc golf 😂
😂😂
If you saw someone at league with that form you'd think it was terrible, but it's casey white and hes a pro so it works lol
Bruh that’s so funny and true, he scampers across the teepad
It's all about the totality... I agree. I saw totality in MO and it might be the coolest thing I've ever seen.
It’s truly a life changing experience. It’s a weird, beautiful, sci-fi, spiritual experience. Your brain doesn’t even quite comprehend what you are seeing at first.
Yep. Saw totality in 2017 and will never forget it. Partial is neat and fun, totality is something to tell your kids and grandkids about.
Drove up to Plattsburgh NY from NC for totality. It was truly amazing. It’s hard to put into words. I’m also a photographer. Got a pretty cool Timelapse photo of it. @kyleforemanphoto if you want to check it out.

Yeah you don’t really understand the hype unless you see it in totality. 99% doesn’t even compare to 100
same here it was crazy. Great Blue Heron Disc golf course in Norwalk Ohio was centerline of totality here!
I live in Austin TX. We had some clouds but we got to watch the totality cloud free. Absolutely breath taking.
There's just so much that's hard to communicate about the totality experience
I've seen 95% eclipse before, took the drive for totality this time, the 5% difference is huge, took the drive to get to it and it was totally worth it, the next will be at 2044 then 2078 then 2099. The corona during the total eclipse is so cool to see!
It's so appropriate for Casey's first Skywalker ace to happen on your channel
🤝🏼
Totality was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I drove 2 hrs and it was worth it. When you think of the chances in life to see one, totally worth it.
Awesome.
We drove to Plattsburgh NY to see it today.
Some might say.... totality worth it...!

CONGRATS CASEY! SKYWALKER ECLIPSE ACE

I could see Venus and Jupiter. Most cellphones make it appear brighter than it really is. You have to experience a total at least once and you will understand.
Thanks to you Simon for being an inspiration! I got the Pitch ace today in front of my wife and daughter! Best disc golf day ever so far! MVP forever!

Congratz Casey on that Skywalker ace! Man that was a sick line. Perfect shot!
Congratulations to Casey for getting his first Skywalker ACE! He had been trying since it was released. Big day for him!
Even if the sun is showing at .5% it's still too bright for your eyes. The extent to which you can enjoy it is still going to be with the glasses. Happy for you Casey!!! Sweet skywalker ace
Totality was awesome and well worth the drive... 60 miles away took 2.5 hours there and over 4 to get back home. It was incredible.
Totality in Maine was awesome! It was so cool to see it disappear from the glasses, and you take them off and see this glowing ball.
I was in Northern Vermont, where I live, during totality. You're right, the difference between 95% and totality was mind-blowing. At 95%, you still couldn't look at the Sun at all with no glasses. Nice shot Casey! Threw my skywalker at a few holes today in my eclipse round.
Well done Casey! Grats on the first Simon Vlog ace!
So great seeing you two together again for the vlog!
Awesome video, thanks man!! And nice ace Mr. C-ace-y White
Let’s go Casey!! Been hoping for the skywalker ace for you! I keep chaining out with mine 😂
It would blow your mind Simon. It was ominous and magical at the same time.
About time, Casey. I've been on the journey with you, congrats!
Nice to see some of the old trick shot or ace race videos. Missed the days of you going crazy in the field for a hours.
Five stars
Saw the totality today and it was unreal. It gets nearly pitch black and the view of the eclipse is apocalyptic.
Awesome video. You might want to check the settings on the new camera as the resolution seemed too low to cope with any zooming in post.
I got to see totality in Texas today and you are 100% correct. It’s completely different and worth the drive. It was spectacular!
Totality was very impressive, and the party at Sugarbush in VT was such a great time. I heard Jay Peak was even crazier! But ya if you were trying to drive back towards Boston after... not a great time haha
Congrats Casey! So happy you got that!
I gotta say Eclipse plastic changed the glow game forever! My glow bag is an MVP trove and so beat in, I don't think I've said no to a dark round yet, in the Eclipse aura!
I was playing a round at maple ridge in Presque isle Maine during totality. A true once in a lifetime experience.
I can confirm that totality is mindblowing. Worth a long drive.
3:35 Simon presets the shocked near miss expression
Witnessed totality at my house, definitely one of the top moments in my 35 yrs of life!
Bought the glitch on Sunday.. what a wild disc it has to perfect for beginners, because when I starred I wish I had one. Flys sooo straight 😊
Yes totality is a sight to behold😊
love my eclipse Crave. Had that thing preordered because of how much I love the halloween Hex. I only got 1 of each so I'm hoping they make more down the road if I beat it up or lose one.
The totality was enormously awesome! Very very amazing
Simon is so smooth he looks like he is not really trying where Casey looks like he is really throwing hard.
Loving the blues background music.
I think everyone should see a totality at least once in their life. I finally saw it in 2017; we're standing in a field with a cloudless sky, and suddenly it gets dark, like late dusk. I turned 55 today! Much love Simon.
Awesome sauce! Disc golf is so good. What a great sport.
Can confirm, totality is one of the coolest things i've ever witnessed
Should have come out to Westy. We had some extra eclipse glasses and better ace runs.😀
It's very worth driving hours for totality, Simon. Arguably flying to a different country worth it.
Super cool running into you today. Wish i had a marker so you could have signed my Ion.
Yeah you should have driven to see the full eclipse. The roads werent that bad and the difference between 94% and 100% is crazy. So so cool.
The traffic was terrible.
We spent our day waiting for totality playing catch with our Glitch … it was the best 😎
Having been in the path of totality you totally should have taken the 4 hour travel. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
Very nice ace from Casey, also just impressed that you basically threw a hex 500ft lol
I experienced totality a few years ago in Rexburg Idaho it is so insane
We had 97% here, and I thought it was one of the coolest things I’ve seen. It was moving? The sun was just moving? I thought I was going crazy my wife and this other random lady assured me that it was in fact appearing to move. Plus the darkness it brought was…. Weird. Kind of dusk, but also something different. I was also disc golfing, and I thought that was really cool.
Please vlog more Simon!.
I miss the putting practice on Jomez so much. I think you could bring it back in your own style. Just a suggestion....... peace! ✌
Acey Casey, so cool! 😎
Shot of the day looked like hole 9 at TC Jester park. I aced it at league one time!
Come try the courses on the Cape!
dude, I can't believe how many you made, that was awesome!!
Being in the path of totality is so much better because you can actually take off your glasses during it and you see so much more and it gets way darker. I would probably drive an hour or two
It was nuts in Burlington here. Traffic was backed up for miles afterwards.
Thanks for the shoutout and another great video! 😊
Great Vlog!
Congrats on 200k!
Totality is a very cool experience.
Gotta say you nabbed some sick free use music for this video. Got some groove to it :)
Those glasses look totally solid 😁😁
Should have!! Would drive 4 hours in a heartbeat to see what we saw today in Dallas. We drove from Houston
have you ever tried just throwing the disc in on the 1st shot? seems like it would make things alot easier
liking for the casey cameo
was 99% in cleveland Ohio was pitch black was amazing , Luckly i was there that day
Wanted to try for an eclipse ace where I live which had 93% but was too sore from playing a tournament in the rain the day before.
I watched it at Top O’ The Hill! It was pretty crazy
this video is totality fun!
Haha nice one mate
I started playing disc golf in the 80s. So when I read "Eclipse - Eclipse Ace?", I thought you were going to throw the old Discraft Eclipse. It was the great understable driver back then!
Found a total eclipse lizottl' in a creek today. The irony was not lost on me.
