How do you get over the fear of first hitting jumps and rails?
I could write you an essay on this but I'll try to keep it short. First you need to really focus and isolate every reason that you are afraid. Once you do this you need to eliminate or at least alleviate the fear either mentally or physically. An example would be the fear of getting hurt and a physical way to solve this would be to invest in some armor. Another thing that can help is watching professional skiers and how much bigger their jumps are and watching them fall and seeing that they often dont get hurt. Also realize that you will not feel good later knowing that you didn't take the jump. Finally when you're at the top of the hill waiting to take the jump you need to focus and try your best to eliminate all distractions and just stare at the jump. Build your self up and get confident, sometimes it helps to have someone else give u some words of motivation. I did this for about 5 minutes before I did my first backflip :) Good luck!
