- The made for TV movie about the PMRC tried to Censor Music in the mid-80's but, all that tey got was a standard warning label. The same warning lable is seen on CD's today and reades Warning: Parental Advisory.
This guy is not convincing as Al Gore -- there's blood flowing in his veins.
a lot of people think of john denver as a smarmy country boy, but he knew when to stand up and he sure shut these people down.
Right on John Denver!
In real life he went 100x more brutal.
Yeah they cut about 3/4 of his whole speech out. John massacred them in real life.

Everybody would be better off listening to Frank Zappa, Dee Snider and John Denver's original testimony. Much more intelligent and hard hitting than this silly movie makes out. It's readily available on you tube also the questioning of each after their speeches.
Dramatized as this may be, I think the movie's done a decent job of depicting them.

This portrayed John Denver in the way people who know almost nothing about him likely see him, a smarmy safe goody two shoes all American country boy. In reality John was very intelligent and had much more depth to him than that. His actual speech was much more damaging to the PMRC than this alludes to. I would say he was arguably the most damaging to their case because he had influence with a demographic that probably would have otherwise sided with PMRC.
Amen to that! Agreed! Why must these movies always make JD out to be not what or who he was?

Wow. Having just watched John Denver's actual speech to the committee, this movie really cut it down

Denver was ridiculous while the original speech was really, really, really moving to me.

Why do they make John Denver out as such a bumpkin? While I don't know if he was really like this, I know that his real testimony, also available on UA-cam is very much more netertaining to listen to than presented here. As well as more worth while.

they made two very big miscalculations that sunk them. 1. underestimating dee snider . 2. thinking john denver would automatically agree with their platform

Hard to comprehend the same Dee Snider here publicly announced his support for Al Gore in late 1999. I guess those labels paid off for them both.

Overall, a decent film. But I don't believe that the real Frank Zappa was that content with the warning label system as character Zappa in the movie was.

Wow man they didn't show a percentage of Zappa's speech ( the best of all 3) they made Frank look less effective than Denver and Dee? None the less, all 3 of those cats made sense and many must admire their balls! But just my opinion...
