Brilliant interview Sam. What a pleasure to listen to a very educated and kind lady. Who has great knowledge and experience in the prison service. Hopefully there's more to come from this lady. Respect Sam
Brilliant interview Sam what a pleasure to listen to a very educated and nice lady who has a wealth of knowledge and experience.never get bored listening to holly hopefully more to come from her.respect as always Sam.
I was once in a prison reception being processed after sentencing on return from Crown court and there was a lad there who had just received a life sentence, the screw asked him if he understood his Sentence he said " yes but i can't do it boss" to which the screw replied "well just do as much as you can son" i was left bemused at the answer.
I really do appreciate your stuff , I am new to working in prisons - Resettlement and Probation in HMP Altcourse and HMP Liverpool (Walton). I waited 5 months for vetting, should have my ops and keys soon. I do FBD Finance, Benefit and Debt - MoJ via Wisegroup and Rotunda Liverpool.
Always an interesting conversation to sit in on when you two talk about the job. Ironic how structures, like the prison service, shed such caring and knowledge without any bother at all. I know Nursing does the same, and I suspect others, police, ambulance, fire service, do the same. Thanks again for this.
Just love these types of podcasts absolutely brilliant 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻carnt wait for more just so interesting could watch these for hours well done you 2 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Really great episode this week, your insights on ACCT, women in prison, suicides and self-harm in custody are really valuable to know. I hope your both keeping well under the circumstances of life pressures! My question for next time would be about your experience of working with/encountering psychologists in prison? help or hindrance? I'm working toward training as a forensic psychologist (still doing my masters course but not yet worked in a prison setting) so I would really value your perspectives
Great interview as always its nice to see holly again thanks for all your time and effort you put in these interviews on very sensitive subjects in order to help people including me gain Greater understanding all my respect to you and holly
If you think this lady is beautiful now you should have seen her back in the day. She was always a happy positive person. Always had a smile and she had these cute dimples, a very nice personality. Her Miss Dagleish, Miss Bridle, Mr&Mrs Hammond, Mr Holland are staff I will probably never ever forget
I know a 49 year old from Moston manchester, just got 8 years for fraud. He is quiet and not a fighting type, he is in strangeways, going to see him on Tuesday.. What can he expect or any advice?. 8 years is a long time.. My advice will be keep your head down and do as the officers say.. Will he be OK as his family are worried sick?..
@@RealPorridgePodcast can't believe he done it.. Thanks for the reply.. He isn't that type.. Has a degree in mathematics. Just circumstance got him in this position..
It's amazing how much information I'm getting from you two, here, as someone who's keen on joining the service soon. Thank you, you two🖤 Do you reckon there's a way to also bring people to join you both, that are now in the service? Or would their job be strictly confidential?
Hi Holly or Mr s. A good friend of mine was sent to prison a few months ago. It was non violent. He has now been moved to a cat 3. He got 2 years. His release date is in June. If he behaves which he is will they move him to a cat d prison do either of you know? Thanks gary
My doughter is in styal, been in there on remand, 5weeks up to now her crime was putting the word drug dealer on some wons face book page,so she had broken her bail.
I 100% agree that the education system needs to change for all the reasons stated HOWEVER I think a lot more emphasis needs to be put on parental responsibility as well. Parents should be teaching these kids these things with schools re emphasising it. A lot of what was said is basic parenting and basic parenting is NOT a schools responsibility. As a police officer I was once told by a mother that her son’s anti social behaviour was MY fault, it was the police’s fault. No love it’s YOUR fault as a parent that you didn’t provide boundaries and rules and didn’t provide good role models for the child to copy. There’s a lot of personal responsibility that needs to be addressed when it comes to child rearing, it’s not just feeding, clothing and providing a roof over their heads, it may have been the case in the 1880’s but not anymore.
Its a wonder that every officer hasn't ended up with some mental health problems continually exposed to the dark side of life having mental health issues myself it's amazing you guys can function relatively well considering after all that exposure, one thing that I wondered watching was Holly's borderline personality disorder caused by the job she must have been very young as a governor which surprised me a bit . another thing about this video that I've never thought about before when I've seen my support psychiatrist ect I kind of naively assumed that I was in then next patient then the next until they went home, it never dawned on me that that they would be so affected themselves listening to our stories makes sense now I think about it, just shows how fragile we all can be even the tough outwardly folks I have a feeling I have a borderline personality disorder but I've had so many different diagnosis since teen years back then it was Schizophrenia and was put on zombie drugs for a short while but I got myself off them then it was depression right up to today which is brought on mainly by chronic anxiety that makes me say dumb things sometimes, a few years ago my psychiatrist said you may have PTSD and anxiety disorder that makes you feel low but no way have you got Schizophrenia I've carried that label for 30 years or more and once people think you got that they back off and scared must admit I have reacted the same way at times it's a scary diagnosis a scary word mention Schizophrenia and I've always thought horror movies. Thank you for sharing your story holly hope rest of your life is less dark and stressful another cracking video neil 👍
Just love Holly. Highly intelligent lady. Knows her stuff. Talks so well and very interesting. Also bloody gorgeous too. Mr s your also top man. Big thumbs up to you both
Holly's my daughter and if I was proud of her before, I'm even more so now. I'm sad her career was cut short after nearly 22 years. She still had so much to give..
Look, sorry, this person wasn't introduced. Could anyone tell me who she is? Governor for Styal? I really need to know, thinking about applying to work at HMP Styal
would prisons not be better at returning to the 1980s where 24 hour bang up worked and just 1 tv between the 1 wing for inmates and maybe library once a month? just a thought putting out there...
In this video holy mentions about the fact she's extremely lucky enough to be able to go private for her care of BPD She seems massively happy with the services she has received I'm a 41 year old male with extreme and complex issues that unfortunately have not had the ability to afford private care The NHS is in my view almost dismissive of most with mental health issues Have you had any experience with the NHS Holy, in a personal capacity An if so what do you think are the biggest differences between the two? I need help before I lose everything an the NHS have been dragging their feet if moving at all for the best part of 30 years Thanks Steve
Why has the service gone to shit? Why are prisoners/staff being treated like shit? It’s because people like Sam and Holly are no longer around for new staff and old to learn from. Great video Sam and thanks Gov 😉
I was one of the only male Senior Office to remain at Downview when it closed as a male on a Friday and opened as a female jail on the Monday, I had 14 moths there and the self harm was endemic, I certianly learnt alot there about self-harm.
