When I was a kid about 1960 there was a closed down lumber yard in North Philadelphia where there were 5 or 6 Hudson pickups in garages. Didn't know what make they were then but later when I got into cars I did. Often wondered what happened to them. Good looking trucks.
Thanks for the information, HawklordLI. I don't think I recall ever seeing a Hudson V8 and this truck was a first for me. We appreciate you stopping in and leaving a comment.
Christine! Our favorite Canadian girl! Always love hearing from you. It's a cool truck and of course Vern is Mr. Cool, lol. Hope you are feeling well. Stay warm. It's not Summer yet.

Man oh man.... What a beauty... I have never seen one!! Somebody did a lot of work... Got to wonder why it is just sitting there? That truck could be out winning some shows!!
The owner has 2 more. Guess he is a collector who says it's time for someone else to enjoy these. Hope it get a rescue soon. Bring on the catfish fishing and fish fry videos, Bill. Getting hungry.
I am with you, I never had heard of or seen a Hudson truck. I find it unusual for 47 that it would be an automatic while most other were manual transmissions. You keep finding interesting vehicles. Give my regards to the crew and keep the videos coming.
Never had a clue Hudson even made a truck. It's nice! Hope someone grabs this one soon. Seems a shame to let it sit out in the yard for nobody to enjoy. Thanks for stopping in, Jerry and hello to your fine wife. Hope you both are feeling better.
This one has a later model 308 cube 6 cyl and HydraMatic trans. The HydraMatic was not available on 40s Hudsons. These trucks were car-based, so they sat much lower than other trucks, but they had less ground clearance as well.
The truck origionally had a small 212 6 cyl. The engine in it now is from a 51-54 Hornet CAR. There were no Hornet Hudson trucks as such. Looks to be a decent truck.
Figured it was some kind of restomod truck. He has two others and they are single carb with stick shift. It is a nice truck. We appreciate your information, Laurie!
Thanks for sharing and for visiting my channel.. Returning Support with Full View and like.. Hope your week is going well.. Man, bet someone has already picked up this beauty..
It seems that someone swapped the engine and transmission from a Step down Hudson Hornet that had the Twin H Power dual carb option. They were HOT performers in their day but by the mid 50's they were outdone by the V8's of their competitors and they lacked the funds to develop and produce a V8 of their own.
I haven't a clue about this truck,, Todd. He has 2 more but both are single carb. Hudson's were tough in their day on NASCAR tracks. But like you mention, V8's would soon rule the world. The step down body helped with handling too, I hear. You seem to know your Hudson's. I am just learning about them. Thanks for stopping in and leaving us a comment.
Taking this to the Rust Ranch would make Vern and the Rust Queen happy. Not going to happen though. Feeling a little over loaded on projects right now. Want to get some gold and go fishing. We appreciate you being here, Dave.
Isn't it funny how we create our own misery with all these hobbies. Sometimes, I think i need to slow down and have less of them. But, that is crazy talk :)
@@MidwestDavesGoldProspecting Lol. I feel the same way. Whine about feeling over loaded sometimes but running out of life and can't slow down. Too much to do!

That is cool the front of that thing is so long one I seen one time what is a pickup truck REO pickup truck have you ever seen one of those it was middle 30 thanks for sharing
Lol, that's a long time ago, Leonard. Hope someone will rescue this one. Needs to be back on the road or at least showing in car shows. Thanks for stopping in.
Haven't seen much of anything for under a grand in a long time. Some lower priced projects are on the way. Just haven't posted them yet as I have interest in one or two, lol. More coming, Jim.
Haven't a clue, Dave. Give Charlie a call. He doesn't carry his old flip phone so you will probably have to keep trying. We always have to make several attempts to reach him but eventually get him. Those I asked about are very reasonable.
@@indyme2 I'm sure it's sold. It's sitting on a trailer in your latest video that was uploaded at the time of this post a short 17 hrs ago. How could you miss it, you were standing next to it ? Didn't know the trucks had the dual carb set up. Nice project for someone.

I'd buy it on the spot!!
I said the same then looked into my bank account and started crying, lol. It is actually sold now. Glad it got rescued, Caspa. Thanks for stopping in!

This is the first Hudson truck I recall ever seeing, Bill. Cool for sure. Thanks for watching and sharing your story!
These sixes were over 300 cu. in. motors. They were hot rods for their day. Yes they were hydromatics.
Thanks for the info and for stopping in, Robert.
Never saw an original that good!
Hudson didn't offer a V-8 until after they merged with Nash/Rambler and created AMC, and I think their first 8 cyl. was a Packard motor.

They sunk all their money into the compact Jet. They should have used the money for a V8 and a restyle.
