What an excellent day! Great advice on the hooks. I was losing a lot a few years ago. And that is what it was, the darts I had bought the hooks were too small.
Did you see the article in NW sportsman magazine about American shad being caught in Sammamish Slough this year? You might not need to make the trip all the way down to Bonneville for much longer.
Oh my gosh, your skills are really great. Thank you for your kind and detailed tips. I clicked subscribe and like. Last week I went there and only caught one. Every time I threw it, it got caught on the floor and I lost more than 20 needles and weights. Junchi fishing was the most difficult in my life. After watching your video, I want to try again.
Bashi...now we have to fish Westport and Columbia river. How does Shad taste? I might hit up wesport towards the end of this month and give it a go. You ever catch Dungeness crab out at westport? I use a Surf rod with a chicken drum stick zip tied to a folding trap...always catch a ton of crab...not a ton of keepers but it's fun.
Excellent vid Bro. Exciting fishing. Can you tell me how heavy are those jigs and do you need additional sinker?how heavy? I will be visiting Seattle in first part of July and like to do mine first time shad fishing. Thank you!
I was using 1/8oz jig, you can find the link in the video description, 1/2 oz sink on main line. It should still be good at start of July, but will die down quickly in July.

Never fished for Shad while living in Oregon. Do you eat them?? Why is there No Limit?? Do you have a cook video on your channel for this species? Do you bait the hooks and if so with what?
1. Yes, they taste good but a lot of bones 2. Because they are invade species, too many of them 3. There is one cooking video in my channel 4. Just the hook is enough
I like you and watching you fish and all the info you give. But I don't like the music. I want to hear the water, birds etc. NOT music. Also, please stop putting "LIKE" graphic when reeling in fish, it's damn annoying. Remind folks to LIKE at the end or beginning. Ya, I HATE the music and want to hear the water. Still, THUMBS UP on your vid. Thanks for the good info.
Thanks a lot for the feedback, I will keep improving my video quality. If you see anything else that needs to be improved, please help to let me know, I will be very appreciated.
Catching more Shad than you could possibly give away or eat is unsustainable. This year the Shad run lasted till the end of June which previously ended in July. Every year there will be less and less fish returning to the river. Save these fish so future generations can enjoy this type of fishing!
Every time I have to repeat again and again, Shad is an invade fish to PNW, their number increase crazily in the last 20 years, you can check the data online. And they are invading our major river system year by year. There is a reason why no limit for shad

Shad taste good, but you need to know how to cook, a lot of bones though. For crabbing, check float 20, I have a video in my channel over there too.

Hi! I am going Shad fishing tomorrow. I was wondering, which technique do you use to tie the line to the Shad dart?
