Just those pieces of broken impeller pluging up your heat exchanger can cause an engine to overheat.

Sure, it'll clear out the heat exchanger, but it will also destroy any aluminum parts (and gaskets) in your engine. Yanmar don't recommend doing this for a reason.

Thank you for your information, I did not research Yanmar, I just know it was great for my perkins, still running cool. Sorry I have no input what to use on Yanmar. I hope you find a solution that works for your situation.
