wow I would have never thought you could make your own with dowel rods amazing I'm a newbie to this craft, but now that I've found your channel, I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with these thank you for sharing what you do!
You’re welcome, Alma! I’m glad that you are enjoying the content! Sorry for the much delayed response! I’ve been working on authoring a book on the subject of watercolor in my absence. I enjoy many different arts and crafts and hope to be able to share more in the future!
Thanks for excellent ideas and instructions. I'm really curious how you use the stick with the dangling charms - the way I use them it would be impossible to drive the stick through the hair.
You’re most welcome! I used a small gold “C” shaped cuff for hair that I got from a local beauty supply store to attach the opposite end of the jump ring and slide it onto the stick. If you’re unable to locate these, it might be possible to do this with a larger jump ring that may slide onto the stick, or perhaps you may attach the dangly end to a Bobby pin so that you can connect it to your hair? I’d love to know what you choose to do and if any of these solutions are helpful! Perhaps I’ll make a video in the near future addressing some of these questions? Good idea/bad idea?
I just used a long wooden oak dowel rod that we cut down. They make them in oak, which is suitably strong. They also typically have them in poplar wood, but this is a softer wood.
My mom has lots of hair sticks and she lets me use 2 of them but I wanted to make my own so thanks for some ideas. I don't have a hot glue gun but I do have paint.
Squeeze out a small glob of hot glue onto the hairstick and then push the side of the jump ring with the opening into the glue and allow it to cool. Just watch the fingers! Sorry it didn’t show up better in the video. That was admittedly a fiddly bit. Happy Arting!
Yes, it is Tchaicovsky's classical composition "Waltz of the Flowers." I think it's lovely! Thanks @Fany for pointing that out! I meant to include it! I have now added that information to the description below the video! Happy Arting!
@@melodyinsideme You are most welcome! It is adjustable by turning the face, can fit various sizes of pencils or dowels in with the format. 😏 It’s fun to repurpose things or find interesting ways to use things that maybe aren’t immediately obvious. Plus, can make something beautiful for your own enjoyment or the benefit of others. Happy Arting!!
I love it, this is so cool. I really appreciate the fact you take the moment of your time to make these amazing is video. If you dont mind, I'd like to share the Gospel with you since I love for you to make it to the kingdom of heaven. You seem like a lovely person and I just love to share it with you. God created the universe and earth in his divine image along with that he created man and women. Adam and Eve who we're were the first people to live along side him in harmony. But when man was tempted and ate of the fruit of God and evil we lost everything and sin came into the world through them. God seeing man fall into such despair and destruction through our sins, later on made Jesus christ in order to teach us his ways in order to reach his kingdom. Jesus died the death we all deserved but he was the sacrifice that played a role in order to have all our sins forgiven by God and no longer have the need to sacrifice animal's in that place. Jesus laid dead for 3 days and rose up in the 3rd day by the spirit of God proving that the sacrifice was accepted. If we choose to believe and accept jesus christ as your lord and savior, your sins will be forgiven and you will rejoice in paradise along side him in heaven.
I love hair sticks and you've given me lots of inspiration for my next "make some sticks" session, thank you for sharing.

@@Mandakyns2 I've embellished Bobby pins with eyes..
Which type of wood is best for a luxurious hair stick
I just used a long wooden oak dowel rod that we cut down. They make them in oak, which is suitably strong. They also typically have them in poplar wood, but this is a softer wood.
Can you make these again

Anyone tried to sharpen with a small manual pencil sharpener??
I wish I understood how you attach the jump ring
Squeeze out a small glob of hot glue onto the hairstick and then push the side of the jump ring with the opening into the glue and allow it to cool. Just watch the fingers!

You may buy black glue sticks. 🙂
Or you can paint it black using acrylics 😉
