The MOST amazing bassist, an absolute machine...aside of the fact the guy is a lead singer as an afterthought....King is THE KING
Amen, to that comment........
I especially liked 'Love and pride'. One of my faves. He is the King indeed. I think he has changed his hair since but still sounds the same.
And still chewing gum!
Couldn't agree more..Absolutely phenomenal
Agreed … as is Paul McCartney.
I’m 67 and Loved Level 42 in the 80’s and still Love them in 2024! ❤❤
Mark King will go down in History as one of the greatest base guitar musicians of our time.
This is what a real performance looks like… actually playing instruments and singing, no backup track or acting!
Awesome performance… the drummer is tight!!!!
Mark King because off you & myself watching you I am the Bassist I am today. Thank you so much Mark King
It’s amazing to hear Mark singing the way he did it back in the 80s
This song still rips my heart out 40yrs later 😢
Level 42 is easily one of the best bands of all time, Mark King is such an impeccable bassist. How is he able to play such a complex bass riff, sing and dance? What an amazingly talented dude.
also have a laugh with the crowd and chew gum. Unreal
Plus chew gum at the same time.😱
Are you kiddin? They're slightly above average at best and the songs are poor. As for King playing complex bass riffs you're clearly not a bass player. There's nothing complex in what he does....he just slaps the strings quickly. Go watch Jaco Pastorius and be quiet.
And chew gum at the same time…
The « King » of the bass!
Mark King is amazing playing and singing so brilliantly... at the same time!
God! Ya Guys still sound Great!! I miss the 80's...I'm going back...Anybody else?
Yes! How old were you in that decade?
This is a 12 year old video uploaded 3 hours ago.
@@michirican I was in my 20's. It was also the decade that I had my daughters. It was a Blessed time indeed!
Sound really good yeah
@@maryhuhnke8496 I was in my teens 10-19 yrs old and I loved it.
You can tell King still loves this......kudos
Mark "Thunder Thumb" King. This guy is unbelievable! Amazing bassist!
Wow. He's not even looking at the bass strings while he's playing, plus singing while playing that bassline. truly amazing
Also, he's chewing a gum. True multitasking
HOLY S**T, Mark King punishes that bass, eyes closed and fantastic voice!! That man is a genius! And how is it his hand has´nt fallen off???
Remind me of......teenagerr....
Bravo Mark..
Bravo level 42👌👍
Cold crowd!!! If I was there, with that bass sound, I will not stop dancing.
this is the definition of a good song
The wife is happy to have such a good bass player
That slap bass would be awesome even if he wasnt singing in perfect key. Legend.
Is anyone else seeing that Mark is singing this and feeling every word as if he's been there? Every time I watch his passionate delivery it brings me to tears. So many layers to this song. The musical composition is astounding. The subtle chord changes, less is more etc. I want to love this song but it's so sad. If you've been there you know what I mean. But I can't stop listening to it. What an incredible voice he has and this must be Level 42's greatest song surely...
Mr King needs an AWARD for being the BeST Bad aSSS BASS player !! (say that fast 10x)
He can slap that bass, keep the beat, sing AND CHEW gum!!!! my idol!
hahaha, I thought he was chewing something, or was it a tik? I've never seen a singer do this, while performing!
Its nasty the chewing gum.
Guy is chewing on it if his life depends on it.
Nasty
Underrated bass player
Still listening to level 42 on vinyl. Saw them live in the early 90s, MK the best bass player of all time.
Level 42 it îs a great band and unique!!!
The sheer stamina to bang those shuffle slap lines, to sing and do it all so cleanly.. he is a monster musician & bassist !
The first band who blessed my walkman in the 80s❤
What a drummer!!!! Amazing
As ever, just brilliant! Pete Biggin is mad. Pity I’ve seen livelier crowds in a morgue.
I became a composer in Korea because of your music
Brilliant! Mark King you ROCK!
Oh yeah that basssssssss!
For me him and Geddy Lee are the most amazing bass players.
Espectacular sonido!!
That's how good the late 80s and 90s was
Mark King - playing slap bass, singing and chewing gum all at the same time since... ever. :D
one of the best song in the world
I miss the 80s too,see ya there 🎉🎉❤😊
I simply can't pick out the stronger player here. Virtually EVERYone is a master.
The sax and guitar are having too much fun at this !
this is one of my favorite band from the 80s sad they were in the wrong crowd. I would love to go to a concert of Level 42
around Chicago Area.
IMPRESIONANTES!!!!!!!
SALUTE! LEVER 42.. NOTHING CAN BEAT THE LEVER... 🤟🤟🤟.
Did I just watch the best live performance of an already great song? With a really busy bass part??
Brother’s Of The 80’s @🤩 Present Band Level 42 Real Music 🙋♀️
I always feel guilty not dancing, not because i don’t like the tune. One of my most favourite songs ever. Gotta be top 10 ever. Would be on my dessert islands disc for certain. Mark slapping that base, and the groove to accompany him puts me in a trance. Then right at the last minute, 30 seconds before the tune ends, I’m like oh shit. Forgot to dance. Very powerful song to captivate me like that. They’ve been doing that to me for 35 years. I’m determined to dance to it one day and not listen to it so intently. Well done chaps.
this is one of the hardest slap basslines out there from its sheer relentlessness - there's no escape from that triple thumb rhythm through the whole track. The fatigue build up is ridiculous.
Agree. They are all amazing musicians
My thumbs were sore after the song and I was only listening to it! 😅
I watch this and think, Mark King could probably lift an SUV with that thumb.
Man they're tight.💙
Y no usa in ears!
mark king is truly a master at the art of singing thanks king king
The 80's...the sound what i grow up with
lovely whole balance, unique.
TREMENDA INTERPRETACION. 100 PUNTOS.

Imposible escucharla y no cantar o mover el cuerpo. Gran canción
I’m totally in love ❤❤with this awesome group and specially with Mark 🫠🫠🫣🫣❤❤❤❤
Che ricordi gribbio.

Best song ever 80,80
Me encanta!!!
Mark king best bass player ever !! He still got it !!
LEVEL 42,Lesson in love ,the greatest band of all time, greatest hits of all time, the bassist new wave never fade, LOVE❤PEACE. 🎉🎉
Masterpiece
This sound sick live!! everything sounds real the sick slap bassline and the drummer is killing too, to say nothing of the great vocals! much respect for this band I saw them live back in the great 80's at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in the Bay Area S.F they were opening for Madonna that day.
Miss those years 👍 Lesson to Love, Funtastic
I forgot I love this song!!! The bassist ❤
idk how many times i play this song
I am over the moon. It all brings back the good memories back in 1980s. Lessons in love, dont let your spirit burn... i'll wait till you return. Congratulations Level 42.
AMAZING ...IM LISTENED OVER AND OVER !!!
I'm not proud, I was wrong and the truth is hard to take
I felt sure we had enough but our love went overboard
Lifeboat lies lost at sea I've been trying to reach your shore
Waves of doubt keep drowning me
All the dreams that we were building
We never fulfilled them
Could be better, should be better
For lessons in love
For restless eyes, egos burn and the mold is hard to break
Now we've waded in too deep and love is overboard
Heavy hearts token words all the hopes I ever had
Fade like footprints in the sand
All the homes that we were building
We never lived in
Could be better, should be better
Lessons in love
If we lose the time before us
The future will ignore us
We should use it, we could use it, yeah
Lessons in love
Lost without love
Lessons in love
When will you ever learn
Lessons in love
When there's nowhere left to turn
Lessons in love
Don't let your spirit burn
Lessons in love
I'll wait 'till you return
All the dreams that we were building
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
We never lived them
We could lose it, we should use it
(Lessons in love)
Lessons in love
All the homes that we were building
We never lived in
Could be better
(Could be better)
Should be better
(Yeah, yeah)
Lessons in love
If we lose the time before us
The future will ignore us
We should use it, we could use it
(Good God)
Lessons in love
Great energy coming from you all
A superior level😂❤
One of my favorite bands growing up in the 80s and still today. Amazing musicianship and vocals!
Amazing concert ❤❤❤
Groove Masters! Please come to Seattle!
The Paramount
How can people in the audience not dance? Or move? Wow

They are Amazed by the King. I will be hypnotized too.😊

I love this song, and Mike!
Excelente Bajista
Leve 42 is the best !!!!
Simply spectacular.
Sounds great
Thank you
Good night!❤🇧🇷
Come to Wisconsin so I can see you live! 🙏🏻💕
#Nice! Nice !youres rocks!👏👏👏
Mark king is onet best bass players in my opinion
Great version
It's awesome watching Pete's gradual induction into the band. This gig was the first year he toured with them, and it's obvious that he's so focussed and clearly a little nervous. To be fair, the fantastic Phil Gould and incredible Gary Husband are huge boots to fill! Whereas nowadays you can tell he's a fully-initiated long-term bandmember who "knows the score", has zero fucks to give, and just does his thing and smashes it every time
totally agree, this guy is rythm machine :)
YES!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
