Dundonnachie and the Dunkeld Bridge Toll Riots

Alexander ‘Dundonnachie’ Robertson, was quite a well-known character in Dunkeld, and caused quite a lot of trouble for the local constabulary and the Duke of Atholl because he objecting to paying a toll to cross Telford's bridge.
This animated telling of the story was made by Steven Goodison, a Kickstart Scheme participant, who had completed his Degree in Animation just before the Covid pandemic. He came to work for the Dunkeld Community Archive in the summer of 2021. The Archive manager identified the fact that Steven just needed work experience in his chosen field of animation, so a project was created for Steven to research and animate the story of ‘Dundonnachie and the Bridge Toll Riots of 1868’.
The finished animation was entered into film festivals around the world. Steven’s work was a finalist in two of these. The animation was also published in book form which can be purchased in Dunkeld. Steven gave a presentation about animation, showing the Dundonnachie story, to the local primary school and copies of the book were gifted to their library.
