- Hello, A-Sven-gers! Thanks for checking out my video on backwards compatibility for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles. In November 2021, Xbox announced the final 76 games in the backwards compatibility list, bringing the total number of Xbox and Xbox 360 games to 695 games (63 Xbox games and 632 Xbox 360 games). This enormous list allows for many classic franchises such as Borderlands, Call of Duty, Halo, Fable, Gears of War, Max Payne, Dead or Alive, Star Wars and more to be played with many visual and gameplay improvements and, in some cases, include the download content (DLC) for free.
This backwards compatibility is available for all disc models of the Xbox One (original Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X) as well as the Xbox Series X.

If Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena and Project Gotham Racing 4 were backwards compatible, I would get a Series X.
I've heard that the Riddick games are really, really fun and well done, I'll have to check them out!
@@SvennyMcG They really are, even to this day. Timeless even. Great stories. Much better than any of the Riddick movies in my opinion.

Sadly you'll never likely ever see racing games like PGR released on Backwards Compatibility because of all the licences related to those types of games. I'd love to play PGR2 and 3 again loved those games.
You may very well be correct; in addition to the licenses in shoelwcasing the various vehicle brands there are often music license etc that could further complicate things too 🤔

I know that Microsoft did their best to get a lot of these titles to be backwards compatible. I am sad to see the 360 store go, but I still boot up my 360 to play games stuck on the console.
A random note since you mentioned the PS, I am excited that the Marvel VS Capcom collection is coming to the PS4. Dont quote me, but I heard the games are actually on disc. That is important to me since MvC2 is a rare and expensive game. I do own it on the xbox and the 360.
I still hope that they revisit the backwards compatibility program again in the future 🤞
The Marvel vs Capcom collection looks simply amazing, I'm very excited for it! I'm not sure if I'll pick it up for PS4 or Nintendo Switch 🤔

I want to see Samurai warriors 2, Warriors Orochi 1 and 2, and something never made it out to backward compatibility at all from Xbox 360 one. The warriors games is my most favourite of all time, I would highly recommend trying them out.
You know, I haven't played the core Samurai Warriors games but I absolutely LOVED Hyrule Warriors - I crushed it on Wii U then did the whole campaign on 3DS and now have it on Nintendo Switch. I completed Fire Emblem Warriors as well, lots of fun. Great selections here, I think you're right in that I'll have to try them out sometime too 😊👍
Defjam Fight 4 NY & Getting up would be great
I'm familiar with the Def Jam games but somehow I hadn't heard of Getting Up - what an interesting, fun-looking game. Definitely going to check it out and great suggestions for backwards compatibility. Thanks for watching 👍

A truly fantastic list, hopefully one day realized. The Spider-Man games were fun, the first was a nice touch and the open world aspect of Spider-Man 2 was fantastic. Jet Set Radio & Amped would also be awesome additions, I wonder how much the music would hold up getting these added 🤔

i think the branding backwards compatibility is misleading from microsoft. As you mentioned, it really is just an emulation of a few selected games you are allowed to download in a newer version. The console itself doesn't play the discs of each xbox 360 title you own. So if microsoft decides to shut down the backwards program or let you pay for it and move the whole catalog into a pricier Game Pass Tier, your Discs are pretty much worthless on that newer consoles. So the real deal is to still own and preserve an Xbox 360 console.
I get your point, but thus far in comparison to Nintendo Switch or PS5 it's the only console that plays 2 to 3 generations backwards using physical discs; they've also been on the open record indicating they are looking to preserve this going forward. It's not perfect but it's the best leader we have at this time and sets the bar for others

No, because i dont k ow if you guys have the same frustration, but i wish that Microsoft would just post a list of games that aren't backward compatible before i go buy a game that isnt for series x wasting my mkney
In the +/- of backwards compatibility, there are fewer games that are compatible than the majority that are not, so it may be easier to consult the Wiki of compatible games when you're ready to make a purchase to see if the title is on the list. This video just serves as a visual guide of the titles I presently have that made the cut

They made Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction backwards compatible along with Army Of Two but not their much better sequels, Mercenaries 2 World in Flames, & Army of Two: The Devils Cartel. Highly Disappointing to say the least.
I agree - I can't understand why they partially covered some of these games but not their sequels / prequels, especially when they're not yet remastered etc or otherwise available 🤔

So the saga of figuring out how I was going to get an XBox that has my music on it ended: My brother let me trade Xboxs, so now I can play games with the music I want.
Also, I have a physical copy of MW3, but last time I put the disc in I was told I needed a 360 account to save the data. Do I have to do that anymore now?

For game saves many are using cloud saves so having an "Xbox Live" account (or whatever if is now) will allow you to dave to the cloud for free and pick up your progress on other consoles if necessary. You don't need a paid pass for this option

Doritos crash course has a dlc that adds more levels. That will vanish with the death of the 360s marketplace.

But you're absolutely right, once games quit being offered for sale then the modding scene tends to take over
@SvennyMcG agreed. If it's a licensing issue they should do a bulk sell on everything. In my opinion. Also subtract already owned stuff. Just a one time buy all digital stuff. Even if it was like 1k-2k I could see people paying.

What were you doing when Xbox was giving away free games with gold free is the cheapest price Xbox gave away the most games away free then anyone PlayStation hasn’t given to many games away free maybe about 25 games free that’s it the rest your renting once your no longer a plus member you have no access to those games
It was a great service for sure; I didn't have Xbox Live Gold for most of the service and only started grabbing the Gold games when I got Game Pass. You're right though, it was a fantastic service 👍
