It’s tough to give an exact number. NCAA gives 15 minutes from the time the last player steps off to puck drop. Marketing usually takes 2 minutes as soon as a period is over and the referees come on with 2 minutes to puck drop. That chunk of time between marketing getting off the ice and the referees taking the ice is all I have to do the whole sheet plus have enough time for the net holes to be drilled out.

TyTyson98 one set is used exclusively for D1 games, the other is used for the Warmups and the D1 teams practices, and the third is used for anyone else using the arena ice
The skater allows me to dump the snow, and help the rider down. The retainer is raised slightly so the snow can not be dragged of by the Zamboni so we need to shovel it and then deal with any residual water quickly. We sometimes pour hot water after we remove snow to make a smoother surface in the corner as we did in this video. But many times I will shovel it myself and have one of the operation guys help the rider down like this video: ua-cam.com/video/UTXTM6iR6tk/v-deo.html
LJ interesting policy. Where I work the net movers handle doors, Nets, and shoveling off. All the driver does is cut the ice and prep for the next one.
Kill water on ever turn and actually cut it in half on the first lap in the corners so it doesn’t pool. It’s a 95’ wide rink with deeper (smaller radius) corners so in need to cut them harder. Also time frame is realistically ~8-9minutes
This dude has answered every comment with incredible detail. You guys need to just let the man work, he clearly knows what he’s doing. Damn armchair quarterbacks.
Unfortunately I don’t drive the Zam anymore, but I’m always happy to answer questions about anything seen in this video. Worth noting regarding speed, I was under a huge time crunch with a single Zam on a 95’ wide rink (10’ more than NHL) and it was also a very humid day in Massachusetts(see the temp/humidity reading at the very end. Because of all of that I was putting the minimum amount of water down so that it was completely frozen by pick drop. The refs come back on at 2:00 for the most part the whole sheet was frozen by that point. In the middle of winter the typical condition for this arena would be ~55 deg and 10-20% humidity. For those I could lay down much more water because it would freeze and be fully set by luck drop. Fun fact door open 1 hour before game time typically makes the RH jump by 2-7% depending on outdoor conditions.
While this may not be the most popular pattern with only 1 Zamboni and a very limited time frame , this pattern works the best for this arena. I like to loop around the goal crease towards the door because of the pattern slush can sometimes accumulate in this area. Also depending on time I like to hit in front of each bench to try and make as smooth a surface as possible. As players leap over the edge this area sees the most abuse as well as the most snow accumulation during line changes. wew that was a bad outside lap! take it slower, don't hit the boards so dang hard. you can drive slower and lower your water so you don't lay too much. you are a bull in a chinashop out there. the pattern was wrong for your arena too. finish your second outside lap and you dont have to do that huge wide turn on clean ice.

Such a good dad ♥️
So it’s like mowing a lawn but in ice
Jedidr basically
Awesome!
I’m a oly driver and it’s good to know that all ice maintenance guys get pissed at intermission events taking longer then they are scheduled for lol
As a fellow Zam driver all I can think is "GET OFF THE ICE!".
Yes!
How much do you usually cut during the intermission or how many turns do you have the blade down?
Where’s the snow crusher ? Do it freeze up often then ?
I see myself in the stands :D
14:30 song is Sunrise by the Aston Shuffle Tommy trash version

What's your time frame?...my rink gives me 10 minutes

Why do you guys have 3 sets of nets? I thought most arenas only have 2.

does the net mover guy on skates not realize the zamboni driver can get water off the ice himself?

I didn't monetize the video because it has audio in it that I have no rights or ownership of.
Slow down buddy. Your corners are way too fast. Do you even kill your water on every turn?

Jesus. Bad pattern for a solo Zam with a corner exit. You deviate from the normal pattern yet still have to make a loop.

You will eventually get there. It's harder to get the blindside turn with the rider but over time it will just become instinct.
