Thank you for the enlightening video. I retired in 2018 and moved from the UK back to the Netherlands, my fatherland. I knew that I wanted a car-free existence, and I chose to live in historic, beautiful, accessible Middelburg. I walk or cycle everywhere. When I visit towns and cities elsewhere, I take the train. I feel liberated, alive, healthy, and utterly happy. (By the way, I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where I found the car centric approach to life... miserable.)
I sold my car in 1996 and love living car-free in Toronto. I think many people have been brainwashed into thinking they couldn't possibly exist without an automobile, but it's really easy to do. Quite liberating, actually!
I've only lived in two places that I can remember. One is very rural and a bike ride around the surrounding streets passes a cow farm and multiple fields and wooded areas. The other is a suburban urban neighborhood with sidewalks everywhere and multiple bus stops. The funny part was while the more urban neighborhood could technically be traveled through on bike, I wasn't comfortable with it due to how bad car traffic was. Yet the rural roads I could bike on, but not to get to anywhere because stores and stuff was too far away

Great video! I love your channel. Keep up the great work ❤️❤️
I am American and I hate how the greedy motor companies have made cars the only viable option in the US.. Suburban hellscapes crush the soul.
