It's starting to look really neat. As a new driveway mechanic myself, I know it's not as easy as it looks! And with the youtube ontop of it, it must be a lot of work.
Thank you, that’s very kind. You’re right, it’s not easy to begin with and using a part of my brain on camera angles and story for YT adds a layer of complexity for sure 😅
Ive always fancied a Series 3 88 pickup. The inly oroblem us, im partially sighted so cantcdrive and im retired, so skint, so i guess ill just keep watching these videos on YT!😂
Nice work. It's those small touches that set apart a really nice Landy from one that is crusty, rattly, and all around dodgy. I did the window felts on mine and it's not tough, just fiddly. Mine came with a hole already there for the window lock.
Thank you! You’re right the small details make a big difference! The channels had a punched hole in it already but I had to remove about 3mm of material as the lock kept catching. My own fault for not lining it up 100%
You can adjust the bonnet spike so it holds the bonnet down exactly where you want it,no bounce at all. Have a look it's got flats on it and can be turned. May not have been moved for fifty years though
Hello mate thanks for another great video you mentioned selling the landy I was just wondering if you could have her as a prize in a live raffle if you think it would be get enough attention 😅Cheers.
My pleasure mate, glad you enjoyed it. That’s certainly worth considering but not sure my channel is big enough to get enough attention. I saw a chap raffle his defender last year: the doctors garage, I think it was. Not sure how it turned out. I’ll look more into it.
You’re too kind mate, thank you. With you and Jack from Boris the defender commenting I feel like I’m making some new friends ☺️ - really honoured mate. You guys are amazing!
You aren't supposed to cut the new canvas rest strip, the excess should be trapped in between the wings and front panel, no fraying and no issues of cutting too short and it lifting up at the ends
I saw that and it seemed like the ends would poke out and I didn’t like the way it looked with the ends flapping about. But maybe it was the right way. Thanks for the comment.
@DaleReubin the ends would poke out indeed, what I've done in the past is loosen the wings a touch where they meet the front panel, so a gap opens up between them, feed the 'tail' of the canvas strip between the two and tighten the wing back down so it clamps the strip down, saves cutting the strip and potentially risk it fraying, destroying an otherwise tidy install!
I still need to do mine as well. I don’t think the channels are the same as the side windows but I haven’t done a deep dive yet. Mine aren’t rusted out but they don’t slide nicely.
That’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I’m looking into possibly cleaning it up before replacing it outright. But super interesting that you noticed. Thanks for sharing.
Don’t own a Defender yet, but I’m happy to have found this channel
Thank you, I’m glad you found it too! There’ll be some more defender stuff coming soon.
Thanks for these videos, I appreciate the time and effort you put in for our enjoyment.
Thank you, that’s very kind of you. It’s a lot of work but it is enjoyable at least ☺️

@@DaleReubin Mine was sticky as well. They don't line up perfectly as I recall.

The rear lights fitted are from a Series 2A, the les you bought is the correct type for the series 3
Ah! good to know. Thank you
Some great tips. Lovely car and good to see the authenticity.
I'll be doing some of these jobs on mine... But there are some big b jobs to do first!
Thanks for sharing. Glad you enjoyed it. There are still a few big jobs to do on this one too!
Really enjoying for videos Dale!

Love the “ human clothes “ on a dog comment about LED lamps
😄

Funny we have the same Series and Denfender combination...same colour/same set up!
That’s awesome! 🙌🏼
Great work buddy! Brilliant watch.
Also when you say series, my Siri always gets set off haha!
Thank you mate! And you’re right about Siri 🤣 when I’m editing mine goes off all the time. Sometimes I just hear him go “mhhmm”
coud you soak the rubber seals in hot water to make them more malleable?
Hi Dale, my dentist has advised me to swap out my rusty stack of leaf springs to pairs of parabolics. How do you like yours?
Hahaha well I guess if you want to keep your teeth. Yeah, the parabolics make a huge difference to the drive. Way more comfortable!!
Are the rear cab window channels similar? mine have completely rusted out
I still need to do mine as well. I don’t think the channels are the same as the side windows but I haven’t done a deep dive yet. Mine aren’t rusted out but they don’t slide nicely.
@@DaleReubin subbed and looking forward to it!
Is it a pretty big job to put new galvanized capping on the rear corners?
That’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I’m looking into possibly cleaning it up before replacing it outright. But super interesting that you noticed. Thanks for sharing.

Honestly yours looks alright to me haha. I was thinking of it as a project on a 2009 Defender, to give it that Series classic look.
Why is the spare tire at an angle? It should be parrallel to the cab.
It bolts against the rear bulkhead which is at an angle.
