A long time ago, there was a Radio Shack kit that worked on this principle. It took me a long time to figure out how it could work 🐣 😅

Doc, that was incredibly clear and compelling. Well done! I'll be interested to see if you head towards RISC with hard-wired control logic or towards a microcoded design. As you developed the Mark I here, I kept thinking that it looked a lot like a microcode sequencer. I'm looking forward to the next installment!
This really is a phenomenal series - as you've observed in earlier installments, there's a pretty noticeable dearth of in-depth explainers for starting this sort of thing from the IC level!
