+Josef Kore Way back then, there was a pretty strict limit to how long a song could be if the radio was going to play it - around 3 minutes, max. But it is certainly a great song.
I'm from the newer generation and when i stop to listen to songs like these i often catch my self wondering of what it would of been like back in these days. Everything just seems so simplistic and you did what you had to. The Joyful christmas and the insignificant pride in taking on more hours just to see the faces of your love ones being brightened up.. Now adays Christmas is ONLY about revieving and now nothing is simplistic.. Maybe even a bit over complicated. I sometimes even imagine just playing some baseball with your lifelong friends and just enjoy the simplistic side of life.. It Must of been good.
+DevolveOS You're as young as you are for a reason. It is up to you and the rest of your generation to carry those good ol' ways into the future. : ) Godspeed, my friend.
"Michael Squints Palledorous walked a little taller that day. And we had to tip our hats to him. He was lucky she hadn't beat the CRAP out of him. We wouldn't have blamed her. What he'd done was sneaky, rotten, and low... and cool. Not another one among us would have ever in a million years even for a million dollars have the guts to put the move on the lifeguard. He did. He had kissed a woman. And he had kissed her long and good. We got banned from the pool forever that day. But every time we walked by after that, the lifeguard looked down from her tower, right over at Squints, and smiled."
I haven't listened to this song or watched The Sandlot in over 15 years. All the sudden, I wake up a couple mornings ago with this gem stuck in my head. It's memorable!
Hellllooo everyone: I would like to thank my friend who posted this lovely song.even I wasn't born in that era but I still loved the oldies. I tell you what sometimes I cried while listening to those oldies I wish I was born in that era. Thanks again!!! Love the oldies goooooodies........
Am I the only 15 year old who listens to music that was made long before my time? I love this song so much. I love The Drifters they made some good music.
What is not to like with this song? Sure folks can have their opinions but a great melody, nice harmony and a lead singer that can sing. I guess taste is different for many but back when this was out, groups had to sing, dance and perform.
I simply love the intro on this song. Although, this song was sung so beautifully, Jay and the American's version is probably better. Both are lovely to say the least. Thanks for posting the lyrics on screen. Love this song!
I don't know who prints up the lyrics, but They did error on that one line and this is the first time I have come across an error in the lyrics. You did a good job spotting it.
I was born in 2006 I listen to this song all the time when I wake up when I sleep it's sad how this world changed like this with all the little kids playing on phones and not playing out side I just wish I was born in the 30s back then you could just walk any where you want and not get kidnapped but now you can get kidnapped for walking to the store or walking to your friends house and it just brings me to tears to watch the world be like this

Love this music. What takes away from the song's beauty is knowing that some executive put their name on the writing credits and stole the royalties from those who deserved it. Behind the music was, and still is, grimy business.
i truly wish i could have grown up with music like this.
Madeline O'Donohue same
I mean you can you idiot... Just listen to it.
Beside all the good music back then, living in even a more racist world would be ass.
This is the music of my siblings' generation, but I play it like it's mine. True love music.
"Sweeter than wine, softer than a summer night" i love that part!! I keep replaying it
Same!!!
God, I love the oldies. Dad got his fav burger king hangout to play this on a mix cd, and now it's all nostalgia tears. Good play.
Honestly, I really wish this song was longer. It's so great...
Josef Kore Sadly that's how most music was back then, short.
Yeah, it's a sad reality. in this case, i just have to be content with replaying it over and over again.
I totally agree with you

Steven Yourke I didn't know that! I'm intrigued. Thank you for the new knowledge and yes, yes it is!
