    This was actually a very beautiful sentiment. As someone who grew up with Toonami from day 1, Toonami's one of the last 'networks,' that I feel actually give a shit about their audience on a human level.
    Cheers, guys.

      @NekoStar, TTHHANNKK YOUUUU!!! and this was apparrent from 2005-2006ish when everything else was either 4kids, Nick, or Disney while one night of Toonami (w/the Cadmus - Legion of Doom arc of Justice League Unlimited, last Megas XLR episodes, DBZ (Ultimate) Uncut, Terra - Raven - Brotherhood arcs of Teen Titans, Naruto debuts, and last DBGT/DBGT "lost episodes") was the last network block still pushin the envolupe. And we fast forward to the 2009-2013ish era and onward and low and behold TOONami is once again the ONLY bluck still giving a fuck with no Young Justice, Thundercats, Voltron, Transformers Prime, Wolverine and the xmen, Iron Man Armored adventures, or Avatar Franchise to be seen on them other networks with The Hub dying VERY shortly after celebrating Transformers 35th anniversary. So we as fans are left to ask/ponder/think... what the fuck... wtf happened?!!

      I appreciated Cartoon cartoons/what a cartoon, but I said 'one of the last networks.' I guess 'program' would be more accurate, but regardless, the former are not around anymore, so the point is moot.

    This is a tribute to Clay Martin Crocker who did the voice of Moltar, the original host of Toonami from 1997 to 1999. I think this message is Moltar telling his successor, TOM that he's officially retired permanently and the "money oven" is where he's going spend his permanent retirement from Toonami, even though he's already retired from Toonami for nearly two decades.

    It shows that even with all the change to the network and how they structured themselves, the guys who run Cartoon Network and mainly Adult Swim and Toonami never forgot their roots. They show that they truly understand their audience.

  • @joeorsini6110

    Croker voiced Moltar and TOM 1.0; after he was killed by an 'intruder' in late 1999, Steve Blum took over as the new voice actor, starting with TOM 2.0. Then came TOM 3.0 and TOM 4.0 before Cartoon Network pulled the plug on the block in late 2008 (Adult Swim picked up the pieces by reviving TOM 3.0 in May 2012 [during an episode of Inuyasha, TOM 3 and his 'brother' TOM 4 had a little conversation]). During Intruder 2, TOM came face-to-face with the first intruder, only he had parts of TOM 1.0. TOM then had to look for a decommissioned planet called Shogo 162 by risking the destruction of both the intruder's ship and the Absolution Mk. III by flooding the unidentified ship's reactor core. Now the Saturday night block is on a new ship called the Vindication since Shogo 162 is dead. All of those Toonami rebrands and host changes give me memories. [NOTE: Blum also did voice acting in various video games, some of which TOM 3 reviewed]

    _"Hey, TOM. It's been under a score year. Alright, listen up. The idea of Toonami started in a spaceship called the 'Absolution' and you have lived, died and relived several times by now. On the ground or in space, Toonami won't be the same without us. As of last week, I've been called back to Moltor for an important meeting and I probably won't be coming back, for now. There's a mighty oven waiting for me. Just wanted you to know I always thought I was the better Toonami host than you, because I was and still am the original. Good luck never being able to fill my boots, sucker. Anyway, let's all be clear: I've never found a worthy successor, but I'm just lucky enough to have someone taking the helm of Toonami in my honor. This is for my late, greatly beloved wife Linda. And to my great friend and rival TOM, I am now officially in your debt. Stay gold."_

RIP Moltar, Zorak, Dr. Weird, Steve and most importantly Clay.

  • @jkellis2
    @jkellis2 7 років тому +80

    I think we can rest assure that Moltar will be enjoying his retirement on his home planet, most likely relaxing, having a beer, and watching old reruns of his favorite show CHips...he has lead a successful career if you think about, of course trying to kill Space Ghost on more than occasion when he was super-villain (then again Space Ghost as funny as he was on C2C, was a real pompous ass). I say Moltar was more of an anarchist on much broader terms. But later giving up a life of crime, going into television and becoming a successful director and camera guy on Ghost Planet, even though being constantly infuriated by Space Ghost's antics as talk-show host, but giving so much hilarity to the show's bizarre comedy style. He was probably the most efficient and level-headed character on the show.
    Moltar would later become the first host and producer for Cartoon Network's action animation block Toonami, so we definitely have to thank him for that, especially introducing iconic action shows from the East. Even from a former super-villain, Moltar definitely gave good advice on heroism, friendship, and teamwork during some of Toonami's segments.
    Well...*sigh*...enjoy your retirement "Lava-Man," you deserve it...and thanks for all the laughs from childhood up to adulthood. And like TOM said, "may your ovens stay forever lit." R.I.P. Clay

      Not sure how I remember this, but Space Ghost once said during the show that Moltar and Zorak was his prisoners. I'm pretty sure that was the only way he could get two nut jobs to work for him. If Space Ghost coast to coast really tied in with Toonami, than it most likely didnt matter years ago when Moltar became host.

    I remember first seeing this two days ago, in my mind I was saying "NOOOOOO!" It sucks that he's gone and died from food poisoning because of eating bad sushi. That's why people need to make sure to cook they food all the way, you'll" never know what will happen. R.I.P. Clay Martin Croker, Space Ghost, Zorak, Moltar etc always.

      what are you talking about? sushi is meant to be eaten raw

    • @Doknot1999
      @Doknot1999 8 років тому +2

      Well, the sushi that he ate wasn't right since he was not feeling well after leaving the restaurant. Check out the details about his death.www.reddit.com/r/adultswim/comments/53f3bn/details_about_c_martin_crokers_death/

      +Doknot1999 bad sushi will give you food poisoning but it wont kill you, from reading the symptoms he was feeling, sounds like he had either had a heart attack or suffered from cardiac arrest

    • @Doknot1999
      @Doknot1999 8 років тому +1

      Exactly, because I said to myself, how can food poisoning kill you? That's impossible.

    • @KairuHakubi
      @KairuHakubi 7 років тому +2

      It can kill you, but it doesn't kill you the way Clay died. The timing is all wrong. It fits a heart attack a lot better, the kind where you don't have TOTAL blockage but you still need to get to a hospital asap because you're going to slowly die. It's the kind that got Elvis.
      That said, the sushi place he went to is known for being garbage, so it's entirely possible the food poisoning set him off. Y'know a little stress or shock can induce a heart attack.
      then again if it was fugu, we're back to it being the same thing again.

    I've always liked Zorak and loved the one clip where Space Ghost tells Brak a sugar coated version of where babies come from and Zorak says, "You forgot the part where the mommy rips off the daddy's head and eats it!" and Space Ghost says "Ewwwwwwwww!"

    When MST3K was winding down, SGC2C moved in and was a welcome addition. Hilarious and unique like a lot of the Adult Swim shows that came after it. The classic Adult Swim was a reason to have cable.

    • @Haloninja808
      @Haloninja808 8 років тому +6

      Masked Kitty
      AS is starting half an hour later regularly now since CN reclaimed their half hour from about a year ago so they can use it to air the final episodes and reruns of Regular Show before it completely ends.

    • @maskedkittyMC
      @maskedkittyMC 8 років тому

      Haloninja808 oh well maybe it'll go back to the normal time once all that's done, i guess I can't complain there then because I honestly really like regular show myself, i thought it got pretty funny and then got pretty serious, i like the way the characters have grown but still feel a little like themselves to me, in terms of how they used to all act before, i just wonder how it'll end, i mean I've heard rumors that the creator's didn't know it was ending before they made this season but I guess only time will tell huh?

    • @Popcultureguy3000

      +Haloninja808 But were having Home Movies reruns at 4:00am for a while as compensation. Would have preferred reruns of SGC2C or The Brak Show given Martin's passing but I'll take it.

    God it feels like only yesterday. I discovered Toonami when Sailor Moon first started airing on it and stayed glued to it since. It was weird at first when I tuned in a year later and Tom took over for Moltar. He grew on me and boy did I enjoy it up until Dec 2000.

    I never did understand what it was about Toonami that could just cause you to cry at a moment's notice. The fact that Tom didn't have anything smart to say and just wished him the best just did me in.
