I tried these and while they're super comfy to walk around, they're also very flexible when twisting and rotating, probably due to the lack of the inner-side hinge, so they seem to offer limited extra protection but add extra discomfort over road boots. I wouldn't take them anywhere off-road, especially with a big ADV bike. I also tried Sidi adventure 2 gtx but they were too narrow for my foot so I went with Sidi x-3 (non-srs version), which brake magazine calls the true ADV boots. The soles are a bit hard for my liking (would prefer the toucan-like soles) but I'm pretty happy with them. While they're not as comfortable as toucans or sidi adventure, I use them even for touring, and I'm ok spending the whole day and walking around in them
Basically the same boot but with gortex they’ve been making since the 90’s….almost same design as my 1995 MSR System 6 boots made by alpinestars….which is good, cuz they rock
Hello, would you be so kind as to confirm which boot protects more between those and the Forma terra evo dry x boots in the upper part, thank you very much
So if I'm a 8.5 hiking boot would you recommend a size 8 or go up to a 9??
To reduce heat when wearing dry star....Use cotton socks, Not wool or Nylon
Ever time I watch a RM video it makes me wish I was stateside. Sadly, delivery to Vietnam is a hassle at the moment. Also, how would these compare to dedicated MX boots in terms of protection and comfort? I am not a racer but do some Dual-sport riding here in Vietnam and looking for some dedicated boots for protection.
How wide is the area by the calf? Can someone with larger calf’s get the top of the boot to close? Any adjustability there?
Will these boots be good for riding a cruiser bike as well? I have a Yamaha Vstar 950 and I am wondering wether get these or just a regular pair of harley boots, I need them for long rides though, for a 10 day trip
Yes, you could wear them on your Harley. The will have more protection, but a Harley boot would probably be better for when you're off the bike walking or for just wearing them around casually. - Chase
Greetings.
Does they run true to size or a little small/big ?
I'm usually wearing EU 41 and have a wider foot so will size 8 fit me well ?
If I wear an 8.5 normal width in Nike tennis shoes what size would I wear in these do you think?
True to size and they only come in full sizes, no half sizes, so if in between go to next size up
This boot vs the sidi adv boot? Any advice on which is better ?
Can't really say which is better, but we can say that we have a rider here who has had the Sidi Adventure 2 Goretex for several years and has really liked them. But the Toucan are also a great boot as well.
Could they potentially be re-soled... being a stitched sole ?
@@rmatvmc great point..touche salesman...but in theory, you could custom it when original goes dead
Indeed a decent cobbler/boot repair shop could easily fashion up some Michelin or Vibram soles on these bad boys.
Will these fit under normal jeans?
Like a straight leg jean? I guess they would, but it totally depends on the leg opening.
Everything I hear about Astars customer service sucks, including their lack of response to my warranty inquiry. At these prices, ghosting customers with QC issues is an insult.
save your self some money and buy something else, had this for half the season and goretex membrane is gone and also the boots fall a part mainly because the stiching is gone on them . Used only on dirt roads with may bmw gsa nothing hardcore....... Now i have to deal with warranty nightmare. really disappointed with them :(
Mine have developed a deformation inside the calf, but the boots are otherwise rock solid. Still a fail for that. See my post.
After a few thousand kilometres these boots develop an indented deformation on the inside leg just below the buckle strap, on both boots, so its a design defect.. Very uncomfortable pressure inside calf. I wouldnt buy again.
A motorcycle accessory and or equipment isnever and investment! yes I'm willing to payfor premiums, but it is not and never will be an investment!
Riding my Kawasaki Versys 1000cc with these Alpinestars and the Berik All Terrain Adventure boots - and LOVIN` it!
