- I'm happy to finally share this 1-minute short that I've been working on for the past two months! It was created in Cinema 4D and took about a week to render out in Octane. It was a fun challenge and definitely the most ambitions personal project I've worked on. Thanks so much for all the support on these videos, they're very fun to make when I have the time between freelance 3D projects, which is my usual day job. I hope to make more in the future, but they take a long time, so it will probably be a minute before I make more Thomas. In the meantime I'll post some behind-the-scenes renders of the process in the next few days, subscribe to be notified!

The camera man just wanted to see what it would be like to be caught
actually he can, for some reason he keeps resetting time every time he gets eaten
The cameraman could not flee, his only hope was going back in time. Unfortunately, this only created a hellhole for him. A loop of fleeing, only to get eaten, every time. He never thought to go back further, his memory was wiped each cycle, so Thomas got his excitement of the hunt each time.
Thomas has a tapidum lucidum, which is what causes the eyes to glow back at you when you shine a light at them. This is a feature that a lot of predatory animals have
It looks more like the normal red eye effect of humans, and we don’t have a tapetum lucidum. It’s just reflecting off the choroid layer.
Though some animals do reflect red with a tapetum, so maybe it’s like one of those

The animation and facial expressions were sooo good. I love the extra detail of adding hair to the spider legs, and the loop is so perfect
Thanks! I spent a couple weeks updating the Thomas model, building out some new legs, sculpting a new abdomen, and re-texturing everything. Gave me a great excuse to learn some new software.

It’s AMAZING how spot on the spider-like quality of the monster is. This was scary for me because you made a train. Move. Exactly. Like. A. Spider. Amazing work! I hope you think about maybe doing some of the other engines as well, either as the same “species” of creepy crawler or something else

@@tomcoben I know it's been 2 weeks, but I have an idea if you trying to make a creature design for Percy. Since Percy has quite a fat boiler, mabey you could make him a train version of Jobba the Gut from Star wars. And then make his face all melted and distorted. You don't have to make this design, it was just an idea.

Damn, the netflix adaptation trailer for Demon Slayer: Infinity Train looks preety cool.
Nice animation, I can see the effort, but I never found spiderfication of locomotives to be scary unless it's in the actual game. The reason I think it works in the game is because the player interacts in that world and Charles could come out at a moments notice, so it's tense. Giraffe-neck-spider Thomas just doesn't really scare me, but that's just me.

Several others have been located, and many men have been lost in the process.
No. 6 “Percy” has appeared to have it’s four wheels mutated into a blob-like substance. Said substance is theorised to be somehow “melting” what is left of the engine into it, as the letter S, the numbers 4, 7, 2, 3 and a few scraps of yellow and orange paint have been discovered. Noted as being hungrier than Thomas, despite being a much smaller and possibly dying specimen.
Unnumbered “Murdoch” has been witnessed with long, lizard-like legs thought to once be the wheels. Tender appears to act as the stomach. This one does not need to consume flesh, but apparently is in a rapidly deteriorating state and has been seen to tear the various steel sheets off the remains of No. 10 “Douglas” and No. 3 “Henry”.
No. 4-S “Peter Sam” has been said to kill for sport and has been recorded on many occasions leaving its victims barely alive instead of consuming them.
The appearance of it is much the same as before DISASTER58, excluding the face which was described as “That of the devil’s” by the late Adrian Gordon.

seen this a few times, and i really like how this portrays... well, what im guessing is someone on Sodar doing Genetic Experiments to the living engines using bugs or something else... O.O suddenly am scared what all the other engines would be... and i think i might even have a few scaring ideas for what each engine would be
i think Gordon would be something like a Centipide, just imagen the idea of this Express Engine having millions of Legs chasing you in a car or something
Henry would be a Rhinoceros Beetle, strongest bug and plus, it can fly, extra scary to imagen a flying human eating tender engine coming to get you
Percy would be a Mosquitoes, a small bug but with the size of it being Percy... well the bloodsuckers now have a king that stabs to eat a person
James would be a Moth, especially if its a colourful one with red and gold wings and legs on James... but that doesn't make it any less scary
Edward would be a Mayflies, they are the oldest, fitting for one of the few oldest engines, it can fly and looks extreamly scary

also, i think what kind scares me more, is the fact THomas is Perpetually smiling (idk if anyone talked about this before) like in this its almost like its a very twisted version of the classic smile Thomas is known for that, the idea that this monstrosity of thomas is stuck with that similar if not same smile, is really scary

I have a theory about this and it's all to do with Thomas's elongated smokebox.
When Topham bought Thomas all those years ago the seller was insistent on two rules being followed;
1. Keep him out of trouble
2. Don't go near him when he's sleeping
The videos in this series show the result of breaking both rules.
So why am I so sure that this version of Thomas is asleep during his rampage?
One word; rokurokubi.
The rokurokubi is a human cursed by bad karma to have their neck stretch while they sleep and either; hunt rodents, drink lantern oil or bite people.
But that's just my theory. Feel free to tell me yours.
