Appreciate this. My GPZ500S is my first real bike aside from a cheap Chinese 125 I rode hard and put away wet. Really want to take care of this one.
Really good quality vid, appreciate you pointing out all the things you're doing and properly showing the on camera.

Glad that you are finding it useful mate. It was a while ago now but that's why I video my exploits!

I love the sounds in the background. Birds and whatnot.

On older bike best thing is to remove radiator all together and take to shop and have it dipped in solution to clean, replace all hoses and water pump. Cheapest way to assure good cooling for a long time. it is cheap insurance for long reliable cooling

Is there anyway of filling the radiator without taking all the front end off? Won’t the pump do it’s job from res and fill the radiator?

My idea is to only slightly loose the drain plug and run the bike wile topping up the res im guessing il lose some but should top the radiator up?

This bike was a while ago but, to be honest, it's probably quicker and more reliable to do it properly!

Did u manage to get fan working mate as I have the same problem my fans not working

      I completely forgot that! Arse.
My fan works but I am not sure that the thermostat does. That said, it has been too cold and my journeys too short to get to temp. I have a spare thermostat anyway but it might have to wait for warmer days!

Do you know where the hose from the reservoir is supposed to go into?

I am not sure what you mean? The overflow?

hi mate wonder if you can help the person who i brought my gpz from has flushed the rad out already but hes put OAT coolent in my 1990 gpz and i have been told it can damage the engine as OAT is only for newer engines. so can i just drain it out from pipe under the rad right hand side , and screw pipe back on ? you see i am usless as mechanic and them fairing look hard to get off lol or will i need to flush it all again as you done in the video above

    • @NatsNackersYard

You could probably get away with doing it from the pipe but you would have to flush it more times. I would go for it, flush it from the pipe a couple of times then go for a ride, let it COMPLETELY cool and do it again. Just use water and white vinegar to flush it.
I wouldn’t worry. Any damage will take a lot of time and use so you will not do it any harm in the meantime

@@NatsNackersYard ok thank you. I will try to test the bike on the long distance to see if it overheats.
