- www.latrobe.edu.au/ Professor Steve Falconer studies the rise and collapse of urbanized societies in the Eastern Mediterranean and Near East, turning particular attention to the interactions of small agrarian villages with their larger social, political and natural environments. He utilizes settlement pattern, ceramic, faunal and metallurgical data to characterize rural life during the periodic development and abandonment of the region's earliest polities and their regional economies. Professor Falconer has directed excavations at a series of Bronze Age farming and herding settlements in in Jordon and currently co-directs excavations on the island of Cyprus. Before joining La Trobe University in 2012, Steve was Professor of Archaeology at Arizona State University.
The Internet is truly a gift for worldwide learning. I am a retired grandfather living in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. This lecture, and countless others, would never have been available for my enjoyment without our digital connection. Thank you for posting this fascinating lecture. Learning is a lifetime occupation.

So true. The internet has become the means of transmission of knowledge that people hoped for from the radio and television. As it turned out, we had to wait for random access media on demand to achieve it.
Heard about public libraries? :) Imo internet has in a sense worsen knowledge with people, since people tend to accept that which already confirm to what they already believe.
jomen112 I happen to agree with you that public libraries are also a wonderful resource. And I use them on a regular basis. Unfortunately, they don't carry video copies of lectures that I have searched for. There is a limited budget for materials purchased in any library system and my esoteric requests are not really a priority. (And I understand why!) In fact, my old hometown had a beautiful Carnegie library that was fully restored back in the 90's. Gorgeous artwork, Arts and Crafts style furniture, a reading area with a fireplace. A wonderful piece of community pride that will hopefully serve another 100 years.

This is an excellent presentation
Why do the makers of these videos think it so important to watch the speaker speak instead of spending more time on what the speaker is presenting!!!. It is so annoying to be looking at a slide and in seconds it's gone without a chance to really see what is important. What is worst is when the speaker is pointing out something on the slider but we can only stare at the speaker.
Other that the above complaint I really do appreciate these lectures. Video makers...just put yourself in our position and learn what is important to the viewer.

Yes that's what exactly my problem too with these presentations and documentaries where the focus is on the presenter and not on the content where viewers would want to see more of the slides.

Why, oh why, oh why can’t the people who provide these lectures, that THEY KNOW ARE BEING RECORDED FOR VIEWING ON DIGITAL MEDIA, provide the lecturers with a laser pointer that can ACTUALLY BE "SEEN" ON DIGITAL MEDIA AT THE RESOLUTION THEY INTEND TO UPLOAD? For the love of God, it’s 2019 people.

how come old hebrew had only 8k unique words and modern day hebrew only has 80k unique words. arabic has 12 million unique words.
