Better than me. I remember both this episode and Discordant Harmony leaked together and both made me cry. Getting hit in the feels twice in one sitting was not fun.
Me early in the episode: Awww, what a cute episode! A Romeo and Juliet storyline! Every show has to have one! Me at the end of the episode: *Can barely see the screen through my tears.*
I love that episode because of Applejack's parents, the story and the song. I wish we would have known about Pear Butter and Bright Mac more in the show like maybe how they died or see more of what Applejack's early childhood with her parents were like.
Um ….given the rating ….they probably weren’t allowed to specify how they died😅 but yeah seeing more of Aj’d childhood with them would have helped a lot
What a great way to start the new year. This episode of FIM is the best of all, brings tears to my eyes at least once every watch, often more than just once, and after recently finding the love of my life myself (ofc I made him watch this episode too, he loves it) I’m even more connected to it. The subtle concerned glances from the ponies that the Apple siblings speak to as they realize the subject matter at hoof, the tragedy of Grand Pear never hearing about his daughter’s fate, and even the (now very obvious) foreshadowing at the beginning that GP knew more than he seemed to.. it’s honestly gen 4’s magnum opus. I’m so glad that this sins video was concise yet rich, highlighting some of the small details I noticed and admired, of which I could ramble for hours. There really isn’t much wrong at all with this episode and I’m glad to see animation/worldbuilding error entries, they’re my favourites. The Hasbro email though 💀 Thank you for this great start to 2024!
Starting 2024 with a bang with the episode that has "Perfect" in this episode's title. Still one of the Best Episodes of the series. There's no disputing it.
Some people prefer quality writing instead of rehashing Romeo and Juliet again. We also prefer not to have 80% of an episode be retcon for literally no reason. This wouldn't even be on the top 30 of the Best Episodes.
Hell yeah, I've been waiting for your sin vid of this episode Littleshy! I love how to this day "The Perfect Pear" is considered to be one of the greatest episodes of the FIM series! It was so awesome that we finally got to see what the Apple siblings parents were like before their off screen deaths, In fact Bright Mac and Pear Butter instantly became two of my all time favorite season 7 characters! Just as "The Perfect Pair" song instantly became one of my all time favorite season 7 songs, I can't help but cry a little every time I listen to it. It's just that damn wholesome and romantic! It was also interesting that the writers decided to give the episode a bit of a Romeo and Juliet type of twist to it. But I remember a lot of people in the fandom not liking it back in the day and on some level I could see why, Hell I certainly hated it when Grand Pear disowned Pear Butter all because of a stupid and petty fued. And by the time he decided to patch things up with Pear Butter it was too late, But even though Grand Pear was too late to patch things up with his daughter. At least he met his grandchildren and getting to be part of their lives is the best second chance that Grand Pear could've asked for, In fact I have no doubt that all of them being a family again is exactly what both Bright Mac and Pear Butter would've wanted for all of them.
I've always disliked Rome & Juliet parodies... But this episode I love. Thease characters just seem way more real than in every rebel teen version (example lion king2)
I knew people were gonna disagree with my comment about TLK2 I truly am glad if you guys love kovu and kiara. They just didn't hit the same way with me... I hope we can all respect each others opinions
3:35 i literally just watched this episode over new years and did the same math over how old they were, came up with 18 - 20 years. 131,456 hours = 15 years and 3 months and considering apple harvest is around September, the pairs moved some time in January meaning they also just had new years not to long ago.
I only recently realized that the customer shown at 1:24 is a younger version of Mr Waddle- the elderly stallion whose tie Pinkie compliments in A Friend In Deed
0:18 not talking about how this pony is potentialy part of a grape family that might be related to the apple family and thus knowing all this somehow is not a sin but funny none the less
I remember when I got to this episode for the first time and I can definitely see why you guys like it. It's so sad that those two just dissappeared. I liked their relationship.
I never left! UA-cam just doesn't show my videos to people nearly as much anymore :( Consider subscribing and following me elsewhere if you'd like to keep posted!
It was great that we finally got to know more about the Apple parents. Quite surprising it turned out to be a Romeo and Juliet take. #MadeForKidsMustGo
We actually get a definitive comfirmationg of a pony's age in the episode where fluttershy sings for Big Mac. A little filly seeming a little younger than the crusaders is having a quinceanera meaning she is turning 15.
You forgot to include: how did they not know the pear farm was right next to that? And how did they NEVER in their entire lives living there see that tree????
I hadn’t watched you for a few months, and saw an older video of yours, so I decided to see your newer ones. Imagine my surprise when I learned you made this one! I had been waiting for this episode for a year, and this was probably one of my most favourite episodes im the entire series. The song is especially, it’s just amazing
I remember when you were featured on Bronies react with this episode . And I’m surprised you didn’t mention the glitch at the beginning when Apple first meet grandpear!
This episode will forever make me cry without any effort. Losing a parent is so damn hard, it’s always bittersweet to hear stories about them… especially when it’s about how your parents met.
3:01 These ponies prepare food with their feet, I’m sure Pear Butter’s taste test won’t make much of a difference Either these ponies have impossibly clean floors or immune systems of steel.
Ponies have a weird naming thing where they sometimes have family names and sometimes don't and when they get married the bride happens to have a name that still works when it gets combined with part of the groom's name.
This is a complete and utter tangent, but I, for some reason, assumed that the yellow stallion with the blue mane who gave the exposition at the start of the episode was also farmer/in the fruit industry somehow, since his cutie mark is a bunch of grapes, and that’s why he knew so much about the Pears. He was also in the industry.
Fun Fact (that I looked up on the internet): 131,456 hours is equal to 473,241,600 seconds. To get the formula, you have to multiply the time value by 3,600
Semi unrelated, but nashi or Asian pears are basically apple and pear as a combo fruit and OMG yes, it is absolutely the perfect pear. One of my favorite fruits.
I would've loved to visit the Ponyville cemetery now that I know it's canon. I bet that's where any plans to do a reformed Diamond Tiara episode have been resting.
I've been waiting for the sins video of this episode for a long time. I guess it's because this episode kind of struck a chord with me since my own parents are long since gone. I was kinda hoping for at least one sin taken off for a full episode dedicated to the three Apples' parents and it being so touching and sweet, but this was really great, too! Looking forward to all the episodes to come, Littleshy!
happy new year! i've loved your videos for a long time, i fell off of mlp years ago, but i always love to see you still doing your thing, it always makes me want to sit down with the show again sometime. brony fandom was really special to me growing up and it makes me very happy to see still alive. one day i'll rewatch the show and properly return to my roots, you're a big inspiration in that regard. have a wonderful 2024!!!

that description of their parents in the hasbro spoiler was BRUTAL 💀
It was so damn brutal and unexpected and yet exactly the way I talk about my characters… I love it

“AJ Parents dead lol!”
-Hasbro (Literally)
Something needs to be said about every conflict in their love story arising from somepony staring at Pear Butter's rump.
This is one of the episodes besides the finale that makes me genuinely tear up
Better than me. I remember both this episode and Discordant Harmony leaked together and both made me cry. Getting hit in the feels twice in one sitting was not fun.
I actually Think the only episode that made me cry was “Do prinsesses dream of magic sheep?” when Luna explains why she created the Tantabus
What an episode. Definitely one of the greats! But gotta be honest, FiM really is a pretty big distraction.
y'know what also could've worked for the "distraction" joke at the end?
