Say a prayer for Mike Ness the main man of Social Distortion. He was recently diagnosed with cancer in one of his tonsils so they had to cancel their shows. I had tickets to see them at the Harley Davidson 120th Anniv. celebration in Milwaukee. Social D. and Mike will still remain on my bucket list to see (said with tears). Get Well Soon Mike! We all love you and want to see you perform when you are better my friend!
I feel your pain I had tickets for Starland Ballroom in NJ I've seen them 12 times was so sorry to hear about his illness I hope they tour again and you get to see them always a great show
Fuck Mike. Used to be my idol , saw him live in Pittsburgh, liberal asshole.....BUT, one of the GREATEST SINGER-SONGWRITERS of my lifetime. But STILL A LIBERAL DOUCHBAG AT HEART.
I am a big fan of these guys, and seeing Mike Ness still doing it today is great. This video shows he was kind of the king of cool in his earlier days.He gets some pretty good tone out of that Les Paul doesn't he? Social D has a lot of good songs.Thank you so much for playing this video Travis!
@@ChasingAnthems it’s a store now for designer John Varvatos but he left the stage, bar and all intact. Sometimes he has concerts there. I know Cheap Trick played there in the last 5-10 years or so.
Its great that he is versatile.and like many people,he has an eclectic taste in music.and the punk thing was early on..hes older and resonates with americana country and classic rock.its good.shows his talent for songwriting and versatility in the way he plays and performs his songs.
My favorite musician of all time...I'd love to thank him for Jade Jackson..what a job he did with her. Mike..u have influenced me with your lyrics..U R SO UNDERRATED
There’s Americana…the classic sound of country, bluegrass, etc that invokes a certain image and feeling about America as a whole. I always think of Social Distortion and this song as part of that Americana…Mike (the singer) was heavily influenced by the REAL country artists from yesterday and it definitely shows in his music. This song has that distinct American sound and feeling. Even the lyrics are a throwback…’just on the outside of town, by the railroad tracks where the country moon shines’…that’s about as classic as it gets. One thing I’m always grateful to social distortion and Mike for is he released an album that was strictly covers of country music. I would have never known about these country legends otherwise and it opened my eyes to a whole new genre.
Social Distortion I’ve always described as “sad boi punk”…. Lots of REALLY REAL THOUGHTS OF REALITY and all its charm of dragging us all down. If you’re a country fan all the bands songs will resonate because they write songs about the realities of life and the choices that they made to get there and how much the realization of it all has or is f%cking with your life.
Fun fact, Mike Ness has bad arthritis in his hands and has most of his life. That's why most of his leads are essentially just the vox melody played on guitar. Dudes got one of the filthiest guitar tones I've ever heard live. It's so refined now in 2023.
I don't think he has arthritis. When he was a teenager he nearly sliced off his left index finger while messing around with a knife. Injured himself pretty badly, severed tendons, etc. That's why he plays certain chords in an unorthodox way. Watch the way he play an open G chord....
Ness is more punk now more than ever. Yes he blows smoke rings thru fire, been in and out of Folsom, surfed with The Boss in jersey and lookout hes gonna blow your mind off thee map crop circlelings. Im glad it-the song did something happen to you for that bro. 😊
Try some some strange Kind of sound... German..🤔 :"Jennifer Rostock - Tauben aus Porzellan" (about dead love).. /or/:"Broilers-ihr da oben" (about gone friends).. Enjoy, without understanding. But take German 🍺to...
Social D - 40 years and just getting better all the time
Quite possibly one of the most underrated bands of all time
They ARE Punk/Rock n Roll

Fuck you, really? Gonna have to find out where he's at with that, had no idea, but old school punker since middle school in the 90s
He's doing better. His words.saw them last month Clearwater Florida
Social D has been the soundtrack to my life for 40 years.
I'm seeing them for the 4th time in two months. My wife, two sons, two daughters, and spouses. I"m 72 years old.
A simple country song thru a Marshall stack and a punks heart!!!
True
Growing up in OC in the eighties it's always a pleasant surprise to meet someone that's never heard Social D.
One of the best bands ever!!

yes CBGBs was a big punk rock/hardcore venue in NYC, very popular in the 70s, 80s and even into the 90s
This is a band I’ve listened to for years and I always wanted to see them live. To see them in a place like cbgb would’ve been insane
CBGBs was big in 70’s, where Blondie, Ramones, Dead Boys all come from.
Is it still around?
No sadly it is not

Mike is heavily influenced by country music. He did two cover albums that are just terrific.
The two country albums had covers and some original songs written by Mike Ness. They weren't all covers.

AIN'T NO ONE GONNA TELL MIKE NESS WHAT IS PUNK!😡🤣🤣🤣
You turn into a bit of a fast talker at the end there.Great band and great reaction video!

Mike Ness is still rockin' in 2023, the ol' fart ( like me ) ! .......
It’s amazing whenever performing all of the aches and pains of getting older go away. The stage is the great equalizer

70s 80s 90s just about every major band has played there
Why I can't hear any more
CBGBs? You mean country blue grass and blues club that accidentally turned into an underground alt rock icon?
Try some some strange Kind of sound... German..🤔
