Thanks for this Lounge access makes a real difference to the travel experience As a silver status holder I get access to lounges when travelling in economy recently LHR to Belfast really good flight and lounges
Helpful video. My usual 'luxuries' if I'm flying in the back are to buy legroom and lounge-access. If I'm getting a breakfast at an airport hotel before a very early flight, I'll skip the lounge. Favourite lounge? The Clubrooms at Gatwick. $100 to get jnto a Qatar lounge? I'd buy some of that action.
A good video Charles. I agree that having lounge access makes the airport experience part of the holiday vs a means to an end. I recently tried the Aspire lounge in EDI via PAYG with PP. It cost £24 but was well worth it, I had breakfast and an early lunch in the lounge. I am debating trying the Amex Platinum next year and see if I get enough value for the fee.
I am flying Club Europe to Dublin from LCY just before Christmas this year, managed to get a ticket for £150 in the flash sale this weekend. There is a lounge at Dublin for the return journey but on the way out LCY doesn't have a lounge. It's still decent value though, compared with even the budget airlines which once you take any form of luggage (I am going to a wedding so need a suitbag plus hand luggage) with you ramp up the price from what appears to be a very low base to not a lot less than what I paid. So I get some tier points, and a few AVIOS to add to my stash and the lounge access one way, in this situation I recogn its worth it.
Ah yes of course, I forgot about LCY, still never travelled through there, but from what I understand it’s set up well so that you don’t need to be there too long before your actual flight time. Seems like you got that at a great rate though!
@@charlesontravels I’m pretty sure BA don’t allow a business class ticket holder a guest for example - and the oneworld policy is that First ticket holders can bring a guest (not business).
Oh really? Maybe my mistake there then, thanks for the comment. I’d always thought business class can bring a guest, but now that I think about it, I’ve always been at least silver status when travelling business with BA so I might have only had a guest through status.
BA Gold/Silver status will allow the cardholder to invite a guest travelling BA (or OneWorld) into Business class lounge. Guess access to First class lounges is for Gold cardholder in any cabin or Silver in First. I think this is corect - it's complicated and even then there are caveats. I would definitely say lounges are worth it for Club Europe if the fare is low enough.

Thanks! £24 isn’t a bad rate at all, especially if you’re able to get a couple of meals out of it!

If I’m not mistaken a business ticket is not usually enough on its own to bring in a guest is it? First class ticket does permit a guest however.
Business class tickets get a guest on most airlines but there will be some exceptions to that, think some of the US airlines might not allow a guest
