I think a good idea for the docking procedure would be to install a couple of small electromagnets along the side of the ferry and have a metal strip running the length of the pier. Once you have the ferry in position you could turn on the electromagnets at it would stick to the side of the pier as if she was tied up.
That lovely pier needs to be weighted down and resting on four or so pieces of PVC tubing to hold it still. That loud whining motor sound just as the ferry was approaching the camera with spotlight on made me feel like I was sitting in the dentist's chair! Anyway, that is a very nice ship model. One question though, how are those temporary rectangular pools constructed?
Hi the whining motors are not mine , they were either another model or possibly a demo at a trade stand , the pool is constructed of square steel tube section with braces and spreader wires ,them a plastic sheet to contain the water .
The horrible whining of motors are someone's else's boat or possibly a demo from one of the trade stands , mine uses two Olympic belt drive units which run silent , thats one of the reasons i use them if you take the trouble to listen cafully the pitch of the motors does not match the movements of the model.
