The new 50 model's display looks very similar to that of the Yaesu FT-2D, and has all comparable functions, except the digital mode is of course Fusion on the Yaesu. The screen on the Yaesu is much larger, too. One point is that the FT-2D does not have USB C charging, which is a real downer! Time that Yaesu & Icom started issuing new batteries with USB charging for all their older radios like the FT-70D, FT-4x, etc. Who agrees?😅
I have noticed the budget radio companies are selling usb C batteries but i guess the Big 4 want us to buy a new Radio , as for the FT2D which i still have the 50 is a clone of the Icom 51 different style case .Cheers 73

If I understand correctly, DStar is an open platform made for the Amateur community. Why can’t a Chinese radio maker introduce a DStar radio for a low price? Isn’t DStar easy to use like C4FM (WiresX) ?
@@thomashardy9994 There's no need for that, you can cross mode from DMR or C4FM onto D-Star if you have a capable hotspot. In fact, you don't even need a radio, an AMBE USB stick will do it, or even an Android app like Peanut for HAM amateurs. It's just nicer to have the right kit like an Icom or Kenwood D-Star handset because of the controlability.

For me no bluetooth is a no sale. Would have been number 1 on the list.
