This is why it's important for Axis to have a good Japan player(with coops on all puppets and Siam). Because when India and China suddenly show up in Europe both with full 7/30 armies of infantry with artillery in 1943, it's not very "sportsmanlike".
I love how the grand stratagy game adds more micro managing menues and hidden bonus buttons in menues.

Actually horses get affected by infantry bonuses, so you can stack it up, that horses get REALLY overpowered
I still don't understand, do motorized or infantry advisors affect cavalry, i remember the cavalry military advisors improved motorized and mechanized(i think) too
@@Line_of_Sight that is simple! Motorized get buffs from cav and combined arms forces, cav get buffs from cav and infantry, and infantry dont get buffs except infantry bonuses
@@user-gw7po1lz2m So you're telling me that: If i play Sinkiang, level up generals in infantry and cavalry, put combined armed forces, get the infantry and support infantry researches, form Turkestan and get cavalry +15 attack and defense, i can potentially form the deadliest motorized/cavalry combo?

Collabs have a couple quirks, the extra surrender progress only works if you are the first one to be in a war with them, and they only give compliance if they surrender to you.
Spies only make an impact on planning bonus if they are in the region where the fighting is taking place. So a spy on the Maginot line affects entrenchment, planning in those tiles. I feel like Paradox only lets you put spies in developed areas. You can't just wander around the desert or the forest "spying", but you can get a lot of information in a town or city as to army locations, etc.
I feel supply depots should be upgrade-able and have levels, just like infrastructure and forts and ports.
Or that you'd build temporary depots with a set amount of supply that could extend your range slightly (depots as they are might have to be tweaked in terms of range mind you)

For everyone watching, if this happens to you (and it will) use ctrl + right click to select all units assigned to this front line and re-assign them *before* you delete it, otherwise you're gonna have a bunch of units being unassigned and just standing around.

I love this format! A quick tip about the MIO not notifying when you can select a policy. I like to use the trait queue for this. Trait queue up to level 6 so your trait queue ends when you can select a policy, this way you indirectly get notified of when you can select a policy
The French path is my favorite too. You get entrenchment for free and the bonus free stats for your generals are op. You don't have to build anything. You just... get the bonuses for existing.
I think it would be cool if you did minor nations but alt paths after this week of Historical paths with them. Like remake Austria-Hungry, or Qing China, Kiwi empire, or just do Ult paths in general. Personally I would like to see Austria-hungry remade in WW2

Theres a mod for a cavalry-focused special force doctrine. It’s unbelievably powerful, and iirc the horses don’t actually count towards the special forces cap.

I've been on a self inflicted ban on playing HOI / watching HOI vids as it took up too much time and I lost any sense of enjoyment in the game.
This and the Hungary vid have been a breath of fresh air playing like I used to and a nice long play to watch to boot.

According to wiki, Germany had over 500k horses at the start of the war and used 2.7m horses during the duration. Really wild.
1:01:46 I think you misread/missing part of the focus tree. Mission to the US has a dotted line to Burma road, which means only 1 of 2 is needed Brit/us, that means you can still get fighters.

Anyways, I kinda wish for ESC for Czechoslovakia and Finland. I'd love to see Austria but that goes bye bye historically by 1939. BTW you can also tell convoys to not enter specific area if you want to prevent the logistical AI from draining your convoys.

I think values should try to slowly shift to 50. Stability really high or low? Slowly shift to 50. War support too. But in war it should slowly tick to 0. Lower mobilization/conscription laws should give some kind of bonus (maybe stability). Everything should have a point unless it is bad on purpose like embargoed economy or isolation

Thus these exist to make historical more historical and for germany AI to advance.

Was wondering if it would be worth to get 2-3 railway guns early on to defend in the Beijing area, as it is such a small frontline anyway? Then get slow trickle down the line to help defend the coastline? Just an idea I was wondering about..

Love ya dave, keep up the good work. Also if you go down the navy special forces path for the pioneers you loose the entrenchment but gain huge attack bonuses for amphibious terrains. This won't out right remove the penalty but with the adaptable trait for generals combined you can get really close. Also pioneers make excellent support companies for coast guards. If I have the the surplus production I add a single line artillery making the coast guard nigh unbreakable even with an excess of marines with amtracks.

That rule doesn't always apply. Why can't you put a spy in Texas or the entity of western USA (apart from california)

Whats your opinon on easy maintance modueles on tanks? you get it from maintenance company 2, I really like them but its a lot of research for a company I don't actually use, so I wonder what your thoughts are on them
Always worth. However it's a pain for 400 days of tech to reach them if you're not using maintenance companies
What i saw with the MIO basically when you add the little bonus even if a 0.7 bonus to defense i you go to change the gun it will retain the efficiency. Maybe because it's the same gun i don't know. I saw this even with planes but in ther case the design needs to be the same

It's rarely worth. To get the amount of supply to actually make an impact would require 150 CP. I would need to fire a loads of high command to get access to it.
There are some nich scenarios where it's super effective. Like attacking nations that don't have an Air Force. Like Japan vs China
Is there a good guide on combat? I just can’t seem to get a grasp on fighting major powers. I can beat a minor nation but fighting the soviets and sometimes even France is nearly impossible.

I have the base game of HOI4, anf if I want all the DLCs, that would set me back £200, which is nothing to snuff at. I'm interested in playing HOI4 again, but Paradox being Paradox, playing vanilla is a bit lackluster... It would be nice to see a video (or several) that goes over the DLC mechanics so I can see which I should buy and which I can drop.

I always cheese China by building lvl 4-5 Forts in the Beijing Province and rotating my Divisions into the two City tiles that get attacked the most. My record of enemy losses in one battle is a battle that went on for months over Beijing and that resultet in 120k losses for me and about 250k for the Japanese lul

Hi Dave, about your idea about supply reduction, I believe it is possible to get 100% as a communist nation using a max logistics field marshal w/ logistics focus, max logistics general, logistics company, the communist field citations and doctrine.
They don't stack consecutively. So even with a -100% supply reduction they're will be some supply
Are you sure? I’ve managed to get it into negative supply consumption arsing around

Vanilla, admittedly I did use some console shenanigans to get to the level 10 marshal and general. I think it’s an overflow from going over 100% reduction, I went too far giving myself justification boosts before and I got stuck never been able to justify on anyone

If it's possible, can you play as Canada, and i love playing as them from having time to build up an industry and be better prepared against the Germans. I played as America, and I'm still learning how to play as them. I hate going to the ural mountains in hoi4, not fun.
