Great piece! I love the Bb and C at the beginning of the melody, reminds me of Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo

Sorry it got cut off I didn't get to finish typing: how much do you think about the use of close spacing of notes between tuba 1
& 2? I always get the feeling that in tuba/euph music, the tubas are too close together and it just sounds muddy. Especially 3rds, but besides using octaves and 5ths it sounds bleh to me in the tuba's mid-low register.

i was just about to push enter and it ended. The voicings are everything in writing for low instruments, when the notes are too close together they get muddy and can destroy the clarity of the entire ensemble. but if you space things out and put the instruments in the correct registers it can sound like actual music and not shit

tubas in thirds is just very thin ice, such low probability of ever sounding good. the lower the pitch the bigger the sound wave and big waves down play well with each other or close to other bigger waves. but a big wave underneath a bunch of medium to high waves gives a great effect and balance. the human ear can really only hear so much, with clarity. Tubas work best in octaves and 5ths, sometimes 4ths.

@@AnthonyOTooleMusic Thank you for such a detailed answer. One of my buddies from high school asked me to arrange a tune for this kind of ensemble and I'm trying to avoid the muddiness that I know can happen.

I've been looking through the Tuba Christmas songbook and I've always thought that while it gave the tubas fun parts to play (which I suppose is the point of the thing), balance and clarity-wise it wasn't the best musical product it could be

@@james_subosits those books were arranged by Alec Wilder in essential one evening. So they aren't exactly terribly exciting arrangements.

Once you finish the score, what method do you use to export the score from the notation software to the video editing software? I've been trying to upload my compositions and transcriptions but I cant seem to get it looking right. I've tried screenshots and pdf's but it always ends up being too blurry.
