I am an Eritrean who (as a young man) lived in terror of the Dergue, one of whom was Ato Fasika Sidelil. At the time a Dergue official was worse than a wild beast (at least Eritreans like me thought so then) for the only thing one heard was red-terror in Ethiopia and young Eritreans strangled in Asmara with a piano wire. Now, I see the human side of one of them, after the Dergue Government was overthrown, and its officials thrown into jail. As you Ethiopians say, hardship teaches people (not just Dergue officials but any arrogant person) a good lesson. I have learned a number of things from the discussion and I want to thank Ato Fasika for his analysis. Though I don't agree with all his analysis, I like a number of the things he has said, especially what he said about peace. Incidentally, I notice that the current Ethiopian Government hasn't learnt from the mistakes of the Dergue and the EPRDF, as it attempts to resolve conflicts in Ethiopia (whether in Tigray, Oromia, or Amhara) with the barrel of the gun, as President Idi Amin, told the Ethiopian delegates. Why should Ethiopia bleed just because the government in Arat Kilo refused to resolve its differences with the armed groups in Ethiopia? As a matter of fact, the Government in Addis looks as if it wants to treat neighbouring countries in the same way, threatening to invade them. Look at Dr. Abiy claiming Assab as Ethiopian in the Ethiopian parliament. This is nothing short of declaration of war on Eritrea. And the Memorandum of Understanding reached with Somaliland! Let Ethiopia reconcile with itself, the sovereignty of its neighbours and with its history (which is a source of its conflict with neighbouring countries, claiming they were Ethiopian territories under an ancient Ethiopian king)!. Such an understanding of history is nothing but a recipe for a conflict with Ethiopia's neighbours! Only with a correct understanding of history and international law, can Ethiopia have peace with its neighbours! But as far as I can see, I don't think Ethiopian Governments (including the EPRDF and the current one) have reconciled themselves with the fact of a sovereign Eritrea! Unless, Ethiopia accepts this - there will be no peace in the Horn! The soviets and other countries were right! If only the Dergue had listened! But thank you for the analysis, Ato Fasika. And thank you Ato Endalegeta, for inviting Ato Fasika!

Shabia and Wayne can fire Only gun and they do not have any knowledge and skills to write this kind of History!! Because 95% shabia and Wayne did not have education and experience to do that kind History. Most of them were from Grade 3 and 5 and even many of them do not know the Letters but they were fighting as Gurrela fighters during the Darge. How do you know whether Shaebiya writte or not. This was wonderful presentation, but you haven't yet taken a lesson as you still try provoke. Eritreans writte and narrate for Eritreans in Eritrean languages. We have it in a wonderful series of documentary. About education of our leaders, you can label whatever you want. I knew his name was every time on Ethiopian Radio Early 1980s during the Darge. I was at high school at that time. He was the most infulancal officer during the Darge time and now he written two amazing History book for 17 years Darge period. He explained very very well each in details about the shabia and Wayne 17 bloody wars . He said, every Ertrian land was bloody soil from both sides (Ertrian+Ethiopian army) because they fighting each other's. If that Strongest Ethiopian army was leaded by Generals instead of Colonel Mangistu, the results was very very different from the results we saw in 1983 E.C Ethiopian army failure! Darge / Colonel Mangistu did a huge mistake to killed many Ethiopian generals. For example, the death of 14 Generals in 1982 E.C . The death of General Tafari-Banti, Generl. Atinafu, General Bulito and so many other's generals. As Consequences, shabia and Wayne got very very good advantage to push forward and they won in 1983 E. C Because of Ethiopian army lost all those highly educated and experienced Generals who servied their country for many years. It is impossible to get those kind of highly educated generals in short period. It tooks from 20_40 years. Colonel Mangistu is a heto who love his country unity and freedom. But the way to solve his problems in politics and in the Ethiopian army, it was very very dangerous and it was needed to think very very deeply on issues. Also Darge was supposed agree and trust with his Generals than fighting on evey issue. For example , the Cheff _ staff in Ethiopian army was supposed very very experienced Generals and others most higher positions were supposed to Occupied by top Generals Not Colonel Mangistu. For me, the serious problems was Luck of Knowledge and experience. I just explained my idea but not Criticis anyone . I like Colonel Mangistu he scarfired himself for our country unity and freedom but the way he used to Correct his Obstacles with Other's Generals and Civilians was very wrong. As Consequences, Our country lost so many things and even he scarfired himself in forgin countries now afte he left his country. He did biggest accomplishment for Ethiopian people. For example, education for all Ethiopian people and the land for all Ethiopian people and those two things done very very successful by him!! Many millions Ethiopian people educated because many schools opened everywhere in Ethiopia. For example, I started elementary school in 1975 E.C Which was opened in that year in farmers rulars areas. If you want to know the behavior of Sisay Habte, read the book of Derg member Major Michael Gebrenegus called 'Downfall of an Emperor'. If you donot want to read, Michael says Sisay wanted to topple both Atnafu and Mengistu, and as a result, he brought death on himself. Michael also blames Sisay for the death of Aman Andom. If you donot want to read, Michael says Sisay wanted to topple both Atnafu and Mengistu, and as a result, he brought death on himself. Michael also blames Sisay for the death of Aman Andom.
