HSP Planet Testing Video Pt1 -- Battery testing 7.2v NiMh to 3s LiPo

- Here is Part one of a 2 part series of testing the HSP Planet 1/8 Brushless Buggy. In this video I am testing the batteries, first stock 7.2v NiMh 3600mah battery included within the package. Then I tried 2s Lipo, and finally 3s Lipo. You can already guess where the true power is, the 3s LiPo. 2s Lipo is good for track speeds though I found.
Enjoy this video and Don't forget to check the full bashing video on 3s in Pt2.

That 3s woke it up, nearly as quick as my typhon on a 3s. Good for the money indeed.
I jokingly blame you for my addiction with RC i was little and watching these videos and then i had to have one so i bought a cheeper Exceed version for my self and now i have slash and i just found tho video and memories came back when i was little watching in awe
Agreed, I was concerned by motor and battery temps
@micheal johnson sure I like the sound of nitros but I used to have one. It was tuned but I didn't like the acceleration on the spot while the brushless one I have is almost full speed on the spot and hard to control cos it constantly drifts from so much torque
Hmm well I'm not cautions of them, but that's cause I've never had a problem. I was pretty concerned when I felt how warm this one was though. I could of fried an egg on the damn thing
Very good point. RC-M
RUNNING THE LITTLE SURPRISE, AND HAVING LITTLE STABILITY. MINI E REVO BRUSHLESS 1/16 Beats AWESOME TO THIS COFFEE, AND COST THE SAME.
Wow O_O!!! So powerful~ I thought my xstr top pro version is the fastest buggy ever. But now.....
Great video!
hey I have just purchased one of these and am also looking to upgrade the battery from the stock 2000mh to a 2c LiPo. just looking on ebay it looks like the LiPo has a different battery connection? did you have any trouble with that at all?
I have the HSP XSTR 1/10 Electric Power Off road RC CAR RTR Buggy. It runs a NiHm 7.2v 1800Mah battery in it. It does not have the brushless motor and I am wondering you could advise if a Lipo could be run in it???
@micheal johnson look at it this way a brushless rc vs nitro in a 50m sprint would be screwed if they were same car but stock
80A hobbyking ESC stock 3300kv 1/8 hsp motor 20c 3000mh zippy lipo packs 17T pion gear stock center diff gear.
up the discharge rating by a fair bit., tell me the specs of your esc and lipo you are using.
I kinda have a rule with lipos. If you dint abuse the lipo then the lipo wont abuse you in a revenge sorta way in the rc car
I've been wondering about this buggy, now I have my answer. Get lipos and charger n haul but.
when its written in battery compartment 7.2- 12V is this mean i can use 9.6 or greater than 7.2 but not greater than 12v?
I run 3s on mine with no issues, but in saying that my packs are always hot.
@jthornley12 i for got to ask is this hsp 1/8 capable of 4s lipo if so . im selling my fully modded hsp 1/10 buggy with absuluty nothing stock left in it. its current top speed is faster than th traxxas xo1 on 3s lipo and 2pole 550 4800kv
im always cautious with LiPos......I've never had a problem.......yet......but my friends friend did but it was kind of his fault
Just got a HSP car a few weeks ago after using it 3 times I know get a flashing red light. i have no power or steering whats going on?
The ESC might need re calibrating, refer to manual
8 have hsp bazooka 1/8 scale electric it has a 80 amp esc but I can run upto 4s
İs it stock??
I have a hsp Planet, the sticker says to only run a 2s Lipo nothing bigger than that, but I want more top speed, will the 100a Hobbywing speed controller and 3000kv motor handle a 5500mah 3s Lipo without any damage?? Please help.
I used a 3s LiPo and it didn't break it, however it did run very hot. If you want more power then upgrade to a bigger ESC that will handle more power without the worry of frying it
Thanks mate, the specs for the esc say 3s-4s,i found this after I asked you the question.
damn right. electric is now better than nitro and cheaper to run and upgrade also part are cheap 2
cool
the speed of traxxas mamba monster O_O
I've done heaps of nitro lately :)
you ran your LiPo to 130!!!! you could have had an explosion. LiPos arnt supposed to go past 100, at least on my rules
What a piece of crap 1/8 scale that dont even run 4 or 6s lipo and they charge $400 for this in nz ripoff.
Just upgrade the esc or put in a bigger motor, problem solved.
He doesn't answer guys.
Really? :)
