I just had cataract surgery a week ago Mon. I wasn't & still am not allowed to bend forward. I thought I would make it easy on myself & put Miss Kitty s bowls on my table. Putting down paper & putting her bowls up, it was good for 2 days. She quit eating, I had to move the bowls back down to her normal spot...she resumed eating. Good video on placement, I found out it does matter. Still can't bend forward, had my 2nd eye done this past Mon...another week.
I use a grabber to pickup & put the bowls back. Where there's a will there's a way. Water is tricky bit I get it done.

I would also mention that the material of the food bowl is important. Stainless steel is better than plastic, and wide bowls with low profile edges are appreciated by cats that are whisker sensitive. And, of course, keep those bowls clean! 😊
Yes, stainless or glass are better than other materials because they don't harbor bacteria. However, whisker stress has not been shown to be a real issue in studies to date.
