Absolutely brilliant. Great show 👍
Thanks Always Home!
Thank you for sharing this simple and easy hack! Absolutely love it. Can’t wait for you to do that to ours when we get together! 😂
Absolutely, I’m a pro now! Let’s do it!
Lawrence, I freakin’ love you bro! That stupid battery has plagued me from day 1! (Lost all but 1 of those stupid screws… bounced down the drain, out the window, etc!) Our rig has a USB port right over the door so I bought a 6 pk of tiny DC-DC Buck Converter adjustable power supply modules ($10.99 on scAmazon) that I soldered inside and to a USB cable! Turned the potentiometer until it was about 3.2v, wrapped it in electrical tape and tucked it inside the housing! No more batteries for me! PS: If you can show me a less expensive way to add power/auto leveling to a Class C my life will be infinitely easier (BigFoot wants like $10k🤯)
🤣🤣🤣 awesome! Glad this helped. Unfortunately, I’ve been searching for Bigfoot for many years, but he’s a sneaky little guy. When I find him, I’ll tell him to stop ripping you off 😁👍👍
Great video! With all the technology in today's rv's, you'd think these gadgets would come with a USB adaptor.
Hi Gary, the new LevelMatePRO pro plus does have exactly that. I’ve wanted one since they released it for that exact reason, but I can’t warrant spending the cash just for that. We’re seriously happy with this hack though as an alternative 😁👍
Good job
Thanks Denny
So easy I'm kicking myself for not thinking of it as well. You rock!
🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍
Thank you Laurence for showing how to do this hack. Glad it worked when you soldered. Glad you knew how to solder too! Great job!👍Hopefully the jacks should work now! Great work! It’s nice to you don’t need to get batteries no more.
Thanks for watching Sherri!
Looks like I have another project now. 😀 Great tip!!!!
At least this one is an easy one! Good luck! 😁
Did you overdub your voice on the intro? It sounded really clean, no background noise. If so, you got the timing bang on, no lip-sync issues.
Hey Fred! We did not, that’s the real sound, but we agree, it’s amazingly crystal clear 🤔
The RV Leveler Pro had 2 batteries for a reason. We're they connected inseries or parallel? One way provides longer hours, the other more power? Could it make a difference?Hmmmm
Pretty sure in series for longer battery life 👍👍👍
Great how to video. Wired up levelmate pro today and works like a charm. Thanks for the confidence.
Great to hear!
Love your video and I plan on hooking mine up , thanks again for sharing. 👍👍😊
No problem 👍
Great video, I am so tired of changing these batteries. I am ordering the part also....Thanks
I honestly wish we’d done it years ago. There have been multiple times we’ve been blocking the road backing into a spot and people having to wait for me to change the batteries 🤦♂️
Neat solution! Great idea.
Thanks Wozza!
Now that we installed the LevelMate Pro, we too ordered the 3v converter to do this mod! We appreciate you guys making this look pretty easy and it looks like a person won't have to reset the trailer baseline if you remove the Levelmate! I think I may need to install an illuminated secondary switch to the Levelmate to remind me to shut-off the power to ensure it's not a parasitic draw since mine will be wired directly to the battery unlike your's that is wired through a light which seems like it ensures your systems shut-off when you turn on the battery disconnect. Thanks again! Cheers!
Ah yes, you might want to do that. Let us know how you get on. It’s a pretty easy job. I’m terrible at soldering and electronics, so if I can do it, anybody can 🤣🤣 - Laurence
@@BrazenBrits Guys! Like you say in the video, this really is a simple and brilliant hack! The hardest part for me was running the wire since our Outback is a little different than your Reflection, the wire on our's is a PITA to make it look like a professional job. And I agree, the soldering wasn't bad! The makers these devices should install a step-down converter to allow for hardwiring! Thanks for making this look so easy! Cheers!
@@andrewk1916 did you get it all done ok and it works?
It was pretty easy for our setup and only took a couple hours from start to finish.
I think the LevelMatePRO pro plus has a USB port that you can use to hardwire it, so looks like they are starting to include that, but it’s pretty expensive and we could justify buying a 3rd unit, when this hack works exactly the same.
Let us know how you get on with it.
Great idea... come do mine! Thanks Buddy
Will do!
When you turn off the 12v system on the trailer do you have to recalibrate the units when you stake your rv out of store mode since the no longer will have a constant source of power?
Well done Sir! Ahh, except for unknowingly working the circuit hot…😉
Would you expect any less from Laurence? 🤣
Level Mate Pro now has a switch and if you forget to turn it off it auto-shuts off after a few minutes.
Hi William, yup, our one also has that switch. The only issue is, it still uses a tiny bit of power so it can detect when the Bluetooth connection is accessed to auto turn on. Same with the RV leveler
Good videos friends great 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers Hong 😄
Wonderful tip and thanks for sharing
Where did you get the reducers or diode boxes?
Cheers
Hey Rob. Straight from Amazon. We left a link in the video description. Less than $7 each!
@@BrazenBrits thank you, Sorry to bother ya, I should have looked there , I will in the future... cheerio!
@@robmcneill2967 no worries. We would post the link directly here in the comments, but it’s a pain to do on the phone 😁👍
So, it has been more than a minute since this video. Thank you for this great tip. Are they both still working for you? And is there one you prefer over the other?
Both are still working great. We have to hit the reset switch on them both every now and then, but no more changing batteries!
I prefer the Levelmate Pro, but for the price the RV leveler works just fine. If money is no object, go for the Levelmate. If you want the same functionality and save a few bucks, go for the RV Leveler.
Thanks for vid! One question why did the two level pros showed different readings? Thanks
Hey Harold! I think it was the fact that they just needed recalibrating. After we finished filming, we recalibrated both of them and they've both been working great. The Levelmate Pro has a much much better signal range, but the RV Leveler has been working great too.
@@BrazenBrits thanks just ordered one, should be here in a couple of days.
Nice hack, but I think transformers have been about for years lol
And that shows how level of my electronics experience :-)
Why do you have two types of leveling monitors? Do you prefer one over the other? We have the level mate pro and like it, but would add the other if you find having two beneficial. Just curious.
Hi Ronda, we’ve always had the levelmate however last year Rhinostorm RV leveler reached out for us to review their cheaper product. Full video here - ua-cam.com/video/O4gri5S8ABk/v-deo.html
Great idea! Thanks Chad - uh, I mean Lawrence! lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣 thanks Wayne. I’ll take that as a compliment!
Could you have soldered the wire on each side of the battery and put it back into the unit?
I guess that would also work too. Might be a pain to get the battery back in and the wires. The cases and quite compact
I have my RV set up that being level is only for our comfort. In ours, close enough is good enough. Nothing in my RV needs to be level to run.
We often just go with “close enough” but when the shower water all collects to one side we sometimes had to adjust 🤣
One question I have is why do you have 2 different devises to do the same job?
That is an EXCELLENT question and you are the first to notice! I didn’t actually know if both devices were going to run off the same power or if I would have one on either side of the trailer. As it happens, I only really needed one as we decided to put them both right next to each other. Nice spot! 😁👍
Does contain alcohol!
He needs a new shirt 🤣
@@BrazenBrits or to wear a different shirt once in a while. I wasn't criticizing I wish I had that shirt. My "In dog years I've only had one" is getting worn out too.🤣
@@4everlandrv988 Natalie commented on it too that I'm always wearing it. We normally film on Saturdays and I wouldn't wear this t-shirt during the week (Work obviously), so it makes it seem like its the only t-shirt I have 😂
@@BrazenBrits I know it's not! It's just a favorite like my "In dog beers I've only had one." We just need to time it when we wear our "favorite" shirts at the same time. 🤣😎 Hope I haven't offended you.
That "beers" not years.
