I just recently got another Pedal Steel and today, I was scanning YT and found this. This is terrific, especially for someone like me. I have just about pieced together, the whole song, after about 3 hours of watching and re-watching this video. I have subscribed and hope you will put out more material. Thanks so much.
Thank you for your very easy explanation to a classic you make it very simple. Would love more of the same for us beginners. There are a lot of us out here trying desperately to learn the steel, and we dont know all the technical music jorgan yet.
thank you for your very helpful lessons,i am a total beginner learning on a shobud maverick can you please feature some lessons foe me to begin with thank you
This is awesome. As a beginner it’s frustrating because I don’t have the right hand dexterity yet to jump around to different grips and strings. It’s great to just finally be able to play something. Thanks for doing this.
@@davealfstad thanks,, I started working on your video,, Rodney Foster, just call me lonesome,, that was another big eye opener,, great stuff,, I’ve been using a b bender in my Tele for about 20 years,, so making my Tele sound like a steel has always Pretty much been my GoTo,, now that I’m learning some actual steel licks on a steel it’s easy for me to understand how it works,, these lessons are so well described, I actually think I’m getting somewhere,, great stuff
Hi Dave I am 84 and have tried the pedal steel a few times and found it too difficult Seeing your lesson simple but nice gave me the urge to try again Thank you John
This was an excellent lesson Dave! Thank you for passing this instruction on to everyone! Really allows you to work on technique, intonation and bar movement... I really got a lot out of such a simple song...
Thank you Dave, very good lesson I have just started out with my steel and was looking for something simple to play I hope I can find more of your lessons
A friend of mine uses clothes pins on the rods so learners can see when and which pedals are being used. Great lesson and thank you for sharing your talent.
Ah you are brilliant. I'd love to get a pedal steel guitar . Unfortunately I can't get a good modal anywhere close to me .I live in Ireland South. The nearest place I could go is Belfast northern Ireland. I'm a bass player myself and would love to change to a pedal steel .( Any advice)
Mr Alfstad, you play so beautiful this song, will you please teach us in the same the song "How Great Thou Art? I will appreciate this from the bottom of my heard. Or if you have that son on any video in which you teach how to play that song step by step? Let me Know Sr I know that you are a great person. So many blessings to you.
Thank you so much for making this excellent lesson available. Very helpful and appreciated. Would you happen to offer the tab for this lesson? Again, many thanks!

Better than Paul Franklin lessons.
Thanks Dave for this! When playing two strings I like to use thumb & index finger though.
Thanks, Dave !
Terrific Dave, like how you do a whole song. How about Take These Chains from My heart by Hank? Easy to access skill from your videos.
