Moving to Oz was the best decision I ever made. My life was going nowhere in NZ due to lack of opportunities and the people I was associating myself with. Fast forward 20yrs I’m now married, own two properties with my wife who’s Australian/Armenian and have a completely different life to what I had in NZ. I could never imagine moving back.

This brought tears to my eyes. Great family who deserve the better life after the struggle. We moved in 2004 and like most, never regretted it or looked back. I had a mortgage and was earning $400 per week in a timber mill with a wife and 5 children. My uncle came over from Perth and told me to work over here. Best decision we ever made. All our children work and so does my wife. Thankyou Australia, you changed our fate
It's true. I see horrible, cold houses listed for sale in NZ for $1+ million. In Wellington, I used to rent a horrible, cold apartment for $550 per week.

Amen to this. I moved over to Oz on my own at 21 in 2021 & I have no regrets except I should have got my parents to ship me over for schooling.. Instead they shipped me to WLG for schooling haha! My baycorp & student loan was all paid off from Oz within 18months of moving here, the endless opportunities & the financial freedom is the best feeling ever! I have no plans to move back to NZ so with that said, have my Australian Ceremony on 26th Jan so that I can be dual & secure for the rest of my life ❤

I moved fron Chch to Perth 14yrs ago, my best year in NZ I earnt 58.5k, same industry I'm on track for 250k this financial year, for working a perfect 50/50 roster best move i ever made...
I have lived in Australia for 4 years now and make over 120k a year for the last 2 years. It’s been good however housing prices have gone up since covid but I do recommend Kiwis to come over as there are more opportunities here in Australia, better pay, & especially if you want to start a business here which I’m already doing on the side. Just hopefully house prices go down as we are looking into buying a home.
Working in a mine isn't great sure the pay is very high but for a reason. Maybe a better job would be mine work on the surface driving trucks etc. I'm not sure what the dust situation is like now days but I was warned those mining jobs are bad for your health especially if the dust gets into your lungs over time.
Cost of living, inflation, high interest and a useless current government making things 1000x worse each day, increasing unemployment and too many candidates for too few jobs, now in recession, business going under are just a few things off top of my minds

Good Doctor an Nurse , school teachers I know had to leave with the no jab policy. Now it’s year wait for surgery , Doctors appointment are a 2 day wait in winter & A& E wait can be 10hrs + . Govt dept has so much red tape it’s difficult to build . We have friends whom had their house burned spring insurance arrived in time for winter. By then the builder passed up the job after months of waiting then council held up the plans for the year . A year later they’re finally able to rebuild . The red tape is insane .
I came to Australia 1989, and I can assure you it’s not perfect trust me. Kiwis are very different to Aussies we are wired different and you find this when working with them. We came with a 10 year old son who became an Aussie Policemen, but he gave that up to work for us in Png where we run a business. My husband is Aussie born but raised in Canada, and he hates Australia and more so when you see the corruption first hand by the Aussies in Png.We have spent the last 5 yrs fighting to survive because the Morrison Liberal Govt targeted my husband to silence him on what he knows about the corruption to do with the old refugee centre on Manus Island. It’s a current whistle blower story and as I like to say Peter Dutton who hates Kiwis, picked on the wrong one when he targeted my family. Since living with the convicts I am proud to be a Kiwi.

Moved here when I was 15 to Gold Coast. Few years later met my wahine, Maori born in ozzi 😂, me being being part Maori I couldn’t thing of why many other Maori don’t wanna date there own. 🤷♂️ But it’s awesome pay here and cheaper for food etc but miss home and culture and wouldn’t want to forget that for my ngā kotiro (girls). Mining in Perth pays more than working as a Police Officer in Hawera. Unfortunately the left-wing in NZ killed off any potential high paying mining jobs in NZ - hopefully we can get them back. A friend moved there and shovelled dirt for $80 per hour in the mines a decade ago, but he said Aussie wages are much lower now. So it's bad for them compared to what they had, but still a paradise compared to NZ's low wages and lack of jobs.

My salary can pay literally more than 10 university professors with phd degrees... as they make less than $300 a month. But...at times I catch myself complaining that i could make more, taxes are high, my house is small, the mortgage is big, you get the gist. 😆
