i rly love the fact that all my friends have their own individual style bcus it makes me feel more confident to show up as myself, knowing that they like me for the authentic version of myself.
I audibly said “whoa” when you said $4k 😭😭😭 I currently have my eyes on a vintage designer bag and it is the first time I’ve ever felt so strongly about a designer item. Hoping I will love it after i save up to get it 😩
No it actually makes me sick to think about…I mean it’s vintage and rare but like literally that is so much money I went to rip my hair out thinking about it, it’s gross☠️ there are some super cute vintage designer bags for a few hundred dollars that I think would be a good investment but I don’t believe any bag is worth 4k no matter how cute like???
14:20 oh my GOOOD i have hyperhidrosis toooo! and i completely relate to the whole 'liking the concept of a garment, but not its material, which automatically makes that item a no'. the condition a real nightmare, it really limits you from the materials and colors you can wear, especially in warmer temperatures. i mean, in the insane heatwaves we experienced this year, i could only wear black tops all summer long because otherwise sweat marks would've appeared 5 minutes into wearing a differently-colored shirt. although it's currently fall, in the future i'd love to see a video from you about outfit ideas for spring/summer that are hyperhidrosis-friendly yet all the while stylish and interesting! btw i love how this hairstyle looks on you! it's super cute
I’m so sorry my fellow sweaty sister! Literally any workout clothes that aren’t black BYE lol and in the summer I can’t even dare to wear something with sleeves it really is so miserable but does make me excited for colder weather when I can actually have some fun with fashion without thinking about what my sweat stains are gonna look like and if they’re gonna go with my outfit or not🙃 also thank you so much, you’re so sweet!!
i actually agree with so much of this!! especially the designer thing? i've never actually understood the hype around it and i don't like having pieces that look so standardized or have a big logo on them. no shade at all to people who like designer pieces though, it just has never been me so it's cool to hear from someone who feels the same! and i wanna commend you because you've helped me a lot in shifting my mindset to being okay with outfit repeating and staple pieces. almost giving cartoon character vibes with like only 3 outfits? but like it gives me so much peace to be able to rewear certain pieces (altho i still try to style them differently) over and over again like you and your coveralls!
I know some people don’t even think twice about designer items but I always had this romanticized idea about owning a Chanel bag and then finally getting one I realized how stupid I felt like that all was LOL…not to mention how they’ve decreased in quality over the last decade but increased prices no thank youuuuu👁️👄👁️
@@CarolineTuckerugh yes agree with all of this! I feel like the bags are now just trading cards or investment buys and no longer pieces of art and fashion. But even before that, the fantasy was so silly compared to the price! Even though I’ve held this belief for a long time I also held onto the fantasy that they were somehow special, but really it’s all an illusion and we just pay various prices to to uphold it! On a different note, I loooove your cardi!!
My entire wardrobe now comprises of linen, hemp, cotton and 100% silk. This has been curated over a lot of years and I'm determined to never buy synthetic again. I remember back in the '60's, my sisters bras being 100% cotton. Synthetic was just coming into being with Crimpoline fabric being the first synthetic dress i wore (orange, lime green and white stripes). I'm Au Natural now and have been for decades.
very jealous and hope to get there one day! It definitely takes time and curation especially living amongst a fashion landscape overwhelmed with polyester but 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
omg yes yes yes to more videos like this! i really enjoy when you just sit and talk about fashion stuff, it really gives this endless friend talking vibe. LOVE your vibe, LOVE your style and find everything you say very relevant. this video absolutely made my day!💘
this means so much to me THANK YOU!! That’s exactly the vibe I wanted to give with this video and just more laidback (almost like a podcast you can listen too) so I’m happy you liked it! Appreciate you!💞💞
After years of considering myself as a „non-jeans person” here I arrive wanting to wear them almost everyday - and I share your appreciation for highly distressed pairs with „patina” of time and use. And all this denim game inspired me to learn methods of repair of this specific textile, like japanese sashiko and boro. Distressed and heavily patched jeans just hit different 🩵
I used to hate jeans but once I discovered vintage selvedge denim and 1930s/1940s workwear I became obsessed! I love the charm and character all the repairs and distressing add to denim ahhhhhhh!
A “chanel” bag is something that I have admired for far too long, but now that I am older and wiser, and more financially stable, I don’t think that it says anything about a person’s personal style. If that makes ANY sense. Yes it says that you can afford it, but imo that’s about it. Please chime in with your thoughts!!
I know this may be an odd ask…. But you bringing up the ill fitting clothing made me think of it…. I am in a wheelchair and most of the images I find on Pinterest of people that look like me they are wearing the most impractical outfits. Aesthetically they look amazing but the practicality of wearing it or recreating it isn’t there. Would it be possible for you to do a video of outfits that look good sitting that wouldn’t make wheeling around a pain? I want to look fashionable too but not very many people think about the logistics when creating inspiring photos.
This is a great vid Caroline, thank you! I love talking about this kind of stuff. I have one funeral dress, one wedding dress, one work-appropriate function dress, one swimsuit coverup, etc. Where I have multiples is for daily outfits, but even then I try to keep the number down :)
I used to over sweat and deodorant never worked always had wet patches Under my arms until I discovered perspirex deodorant you put it on before bed the next morning wash it off and it closes off your sweat glands for a few days so you can go without Deodorant and just wear perfume it was bliss no more wet patches you can get it from boots I believe Mitchem is the same thing but I have not tried that one because the pespirex works so well ❤
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, bc I too have many fashion thoughts and reflections that I can only share via Ted Talks I hold in my head, so this is solidarity 🤝
I knew I would regret buying a Chanel bag because I own coach bags and since those have a C logo on them and I see it every single day I no longer see the allure of paying thousands of dollars more for a C logo.
Can someone explain to me how if something doesn't look flattering on you, you still feel confident to wear it? Because I've heard people say "don't care if you're clothing is flattering, just wear what you like," but, if something isn't flattering on me, then I don't think it looks good and it MAKES me uncomfortable. So, is that just me?
The term “flattering” is often used under the guise of what can make a woman and her body fit into a certain beauty standard! Not always but an example is “defining your waist” why do I need to do that? this obsession with highlighting the smallest parts of my body and why society demands that of me in order to look what it deems as most appealing…it personally doesn’t make me feel good but whatever makes someone feel good is what they should do!
Perfect example is my favorite pair of mom jeans! My mom's best friend asked" why do you wear those God awful jeans, they don't do anything for you" But they were SOOOOOOOO comfortable and I loved wearing them not caring how they looked to other people. They didn't flatter my body or shape which I didn't care but I still wore them religiously
yup! big on the “luxury” designers because I’m a fan of some really cool small independent designers that put an emphasis on sustainable, innovative, quality clothing but no such thing can be found with these bigger names lol
@CarolineTucker Yeah, if I had the money I would absolutely consider smaller sustainable and ethical designer brands, especially local ones. One day 😅 But what makes me so mad about current luxury is that the quality you get for the price is not there with the big brands. Like what's the point then?? It's just fast fashion with a bigger markup.
same! I just admire from a distance haha but totally agree about alot of luxury designer literally being overpriced fast fashion it’s insane…I do love some vintage 90s designer stuff but again, admire from afar lol
Designer stuff is so silly imo. All marketing is manipulative but holy hell their headlock on the market is infuriating to me. There's so much incredible handmade stuff out there that supports small businesses and doesn't put more money in the pocket of LVMH shareholders
Designer labels are marketed toward the upper middle class to try to make them feel like they have the appearance of the upper class. Celebs get that stuff for free
@hello1943 no this is so real…there are some really cool small independent designers who lead with innovation and an emphasis on sustainability but those designers aren’t Chanel🤡
I do think some vintage designer is very cool, well made, and fun to find for an affordable price especially if you’re a collector! I’m just not one of those people!
I sold my black one and actually made more than what I paid for😛 but my vintage pink one is quite dirty I don’t know how much I could really get for it but worth a shot since I never wear it because I almost feel icky wearing something so expensive lol
I'm glad I'm not the only one, I brought a Gucci bag, now I'm like what was I thinking, I could have got 3 nice bags to create so many more outfits with, other then this one that I feel a little of a tw*t wearing 😂😂 it's my summer bag cus it has a fabric strap and my doc bag wouldnt be comfy for summer but it's mostly winter, I could suffer for the 2 weeks of summer. 😂😂 yeh 300 quid, thankfully not brand new for the 700 quid price but still, I feel a bit of a di*k not gonna lie. Although I love my Gucci rings cus I couldnt find rings that didnt turn brown or green, I also go them for less then half what they actually would cost brand new. I had the belts and gave them my brother, he dresses a bit extra then me. I like the old fashioned, good quality looking clothes, a little boho or western or grunge, 70s or 90s look. 😂 but yeh, I'm just sticking with docs and Levi's, the only thing in my wardrobe that Carrie's me through life 😂😂 also some free people things, I love their Ziggy overalls, I hve 3 pairs, 2 long dark and light blue, one shorts cream, I live in them or Levi's Jean's and a t shirt 😂😂
i want some clothes from this more high end brand (it’s mainly tshirts and hoodies) but they aren’t like.. EXPENSIVE EXPENSIVE. more expensive than i’d normally spend, but still. compared to some of these other brands, $50 for a tshirt and $100 for a hoodie isnt the worst.
If you think you’re gonna wear them a lot and they are good quality and made from good materials then I always think it’s an investment worth making if you can! I’ve also been able to thrift for really cheap some of my staple pieces but that obviously has its own challenges!
exactly! I’m not being a snob about synthetic fibers it’s literally for the health of myself and everyone that has to encounter me throughout the day😭😭

You and I!
For being of that generation, going back to the earth, it became VERY hard to find clothes not made of polyester, all of a sudden!!!
Best way to reduce polyester is to NOT buy it! Same with made in china! Just Dont Buy It!

$4k for a BAG is fucking deranged like the only time I can imagine it being worth it is if there is also $3,999 in cash inside the bag
what growing up in early 2000s logo designer mania and watching gossip girl during my most formative years did to my brain
they cost 10k now lol
no literally and this was only 5 years ago I am sick that is rotten
