    Take my hat off to you Lew for the way you ride it and the terrain, I’ve got a T7 tipped it over after 200 miles from new and broke my wrist 😂 on normal ground, dying to get back on and practice on it properly. Well done inspirational 👍

      Thanks alot for the kind words, David 🙏 sorry to hear of your injury, mate, heal up soon! Yeah thats the thing with these big bikes, once that balance has gone they go down fast, and with a bang too. Don't worry I'm human aswell mate, I dropped this at a t junction 2 corners from my house last week too 🤦‍♂️ 😂 hurt my pride more than anything. Buy yeah you have to get back on the horse as soon as you can so you don't lose that confidence. Let us know your progress 💪

      Cheers Mark. I mean sure, there's a handful of select trails I personally wouldn't want to take it up or down (yet) but that's on me, the bike 100% is capable!

    Yet to any proper off road on mine but will do as soon as I swap the tyres. 4500 miles in and love it. Any idea of what your suspension settings are now you've set it up?

    • @lewsdirtbikedays
      @lewsdirtbikedays  Рік тому +1

      Get it offroad mate, you'll be amazed! Truly. With the right tyres, this bike will take you anywhere. I probably done about 3.5k miles, mostly offroad on the standard pirelli STR's on, although I wouldn't recommend it, it can be done, you just have to be really careful. In terms of actual clickers, I can't remember to be honest as they're being tweaked all the time but it must only be 2 or 3 clicks from standard, theyre very sensitive, but what I can remember is winding in the preload adjusters on the forks down 2 rings, and the preloaded on the rear shock is maxed out to the hard setting, mainly because the suspension is quite soft in the first half of the Stroke and uses up alot of travel so the preloaded just holds the bike a bit firmer at the top end. Just play around with them, just don't be like me and forget what you've done 😆

    Nice to see a `big` bike being used on Brit` greenlanes. Maybe a silly question, but how do you stop your feet from getting wet and cold/frozen from all the water, especially in winter.

    Really like the look of this but the seat height at 890 mm was worrying me. I had an xt660r a few years back and I recall when you sat on it, the suspension squatted down a fair bit, making it a toes down only for me, unless I leaned the bike over and flatfooted on one leg. Now I am not particularly big, 90kg, so does the suspension squat down much on tenere? I checked the specs for the xt660r and the seat height was 5 mm taller, which surprised me. The tenere is a fair bit heavier than the 660r though. I guess I will have to get a test ride.

      Hey mate, thanks for watching. I have loads of newer videos out since this one with my new 4k camera, please check them out 👌
      To be fair, the bike does squat quite a lot when the suspension is broken in properly, it sags probably 20mm ish. I'm 5ft 7 and 16 stone, and can't touch the floor myself, I have to side saddle, but it's something I've gotten used to, bit tricky in some situations on the trails but otherwise its absolutely fine. You can also get lowering links which brings it down another 20/30mm which is huge! But if you're offroading, this I wouldn't recommend as the bottom of the bike sits too low and pegs will catch on ruts really easily... not good! You could also get a lower spring rate on the rear too if you wanted it to sag a little more too, but again, I wouldn't recommend that either.

      @thepub245 11 місяців тому

      Hey thanks for the reply Lew, thats great. I don't think I would go down the route of lowering myself either. If I managed the XT the Tenere should be fine. I'm 5 10 but my legs aren't the longest! I will definately check your other vids out, I also hit the subscribe button. Thanks again. 👍

      @thepub245 Hey, thanks alot mate, I appreciate it 🙏 yeah, I reply to everyone who takes time to comment on thw videos, it's the least I can do... can be disappointing when you comment on other videos and get ignored, especially on the smaller channels like mine.
      Yeah, you'll be fine on the T7 then for sure. I only have a 29" inside leg, so a proper short arse... plus I wear knee braces also which stops me fully extending the leg, so combined is the reason I can't touch the floor 😂 when you watch my other videos, you'll see that I fall off... ALOT! But it's all part of the fun. Don't let the size and weight of the bike deter you or put you off, get out there and have a bloody good laugh, it's what they're for after all.
      Cheers mate.

    Hey Lew! I've greatly enjoyed watching your videos while I was waiting for my World Raid to arrive. Still do now that i've got mine ^^
    I rode it a bit over 1000 k and I'm loving it. Didn't do too much offroading till now and just installed the Hepco & Becker crash bars last week. Still waiting on the Barkbusters. I saw on your bike that you have some scratches quite high on the tanks and now I'm wondering if the Hepco & Becker ones don't go high enough. What do you think?

    • @lewsdirtbikedays
      @lewsdirtbikedays  Рік тому +1

      Hi Paco 👋 Thanks for watching mate, really appreciate it. Glad you're enjoying your WR as much as I am, mine.
      To be honest, the scratches on my tank and the cracks in the side covers are from way before I had my crash bars fitted so are no reflection on the coverage of the bars, and since mine have been on the bike thankfully hast suffered any more scratches, I should have had these bars on since day one, but foolishly I carried on thrashing her about offroad regardless. I also think you would have to try really hard to scratch where I have as the bike was practically upside down in order to damage where I have 🤣 but i would highly recommend crash bars of any kind, you'd rather have them and not need them, than need them and not have them and damage the bike.

    Mate. I had a bit of a cold, hard look at myself, today, and realised i'm too old for such a big girl. Even the T7 is just too much for me. I've decided to go with a 500. Something that's a hundred kilo's lighter may just be what I need.

    • @lewsdirtbikedays
      @lewsdirtbikedays  Рік тому +1

      Fair play to you, mate. A 500 is a perfect trail bike anyways, just hard work on motorways (but who wants to ride their bike there anyway? 🤷🏼‍♂️) at least you're aware of your limits, others may not be and end up hurting themselves. The weight and size is certainly a big factor, but I try not to think about it too much, or I'll psyc myself out of 90% of the trails I do 😆

    Is your suspension completely stock? And are there any spring upgrades that you know of for the longer travel forks?

    • @lewsdirtbikedays
      @lewsdirtbikedays  7 місяців тому +1

      It was at the time of making this video yes, which was filmed nearly a year ago. It's not stock now, it has heaver rate K-Tech fork springs and shock spring so parts are available now for the WR suspension

    • @lewsdirtbikedays
      @lewsdirtbikedays  7 місяців тому

      @@Moto_Yeltyes, they are specifically for the WR, standard height full 230mm, I wouldn't lower this bike as I want the full ground clearance for the gnarly offroad... Even though I can't touch the floor 😂 everything K-Tech is quality, you can't go wrong. Their website is really good too full if useful info.

    How much lowering did you do?

    • @lewsdirtbikedays
      @lewsdirtbikedays  Рік тому

      Hey dude. I originally lowered it 20mm using lowering links, but found the bike was bottoming out on obstacles far too much, so I put the original links back on to standard height and has been left since.

    • @iSim0641
      @iSim0641 Рік тому

      @@lewsdirtbikedays Alright thanks for the info. I am exactly your size and been riding my T7 for 3 years now. It is unlowered. I am never really bothered by the height except when I have to stop in very technical terrain (like deep mud with large rocks hidden in it) or deep water crossing, it is a real struggle to keep it from tipping over.
      The shock spring is too soft for me but I never dared to switch to a 90 NM spring by fear of being to high since there would be less sag. I ride at 0 clicks preload.
      Anyway, love your content. Cheers from Canada.

    Iv actually just traded my 1250gsa in for a world raid so il have 2 t7s now 😂 also get the hpcorse high exhaust, iv got that on my t7. No need to cut the existing hanger off

    • @lewsdirtbikedays
      @lewsdirtbikedays  Рік тому +1

      Well in, mate 👏 👍 👌 😆 the less 1250GS fairies on the road, the better haha. 2 blokes I ride with both have 2x T7's themselves, the OG and the World Raid, both prefer the Raid offroad because of the suspension and the lower down weight, but their T7's are both heavily kitted out for offroad so the Raids don't see much dirt, but they do prefer them. Which will you be dedicating to the dirt? 🤔
      If I'm being honest, I don't like the look of the hpcorse exhaust, where the can sits, looks a bit strange to me, I like the rally bike look with the long swept up one. I won't be selling this, so cutting the hanger won't bother me really, but I know what you're saying.

      @Hampshire adv riders fair play then, you're one of a select few that actually did take them offroad then. Expensive machines to be thrashing about on the lanes though, hey. 😆 sounds like you have an important decision to make then dude. Strip the parts off your T7 and put them on the raid then sell it.... once the Raid goes offroad you likely won't even use the other.

      @Advmot0 Рік тому +1

      @@lewsdirtbikedays yea they arnt built for it really I trashed my first one 😂 and the 1250s are crap. I’m not sure if I will use the WR off road all the time because it has to replace my gs really, so I’m not seeing the point when I have a kitted out one already that already has a few battle wounds. But I may change my mind. My Yamaha dealer let me do some lanes on it and the suspension is better than mine and Iv spent a lot on my suspension which is annoying 😂
