Lumad Basakanon is Street Dance Champion - Sinulog Festival 2024 Cebu, Filipinas

Congratulations to Lumad Basakanon of Barangay Basak San Nicolas for being the Grand Champion of the Street Dancing category competition. The Sinulog Festival is a religious tradition in Cebu, which traces its origins to the Feast of the Sto. Niño. It’s held every third Sunday of January to celebrate the birth of Catholicism in the Philippines. Santo Niño (Child Jesus) was said to be a gift from the Portuguese born explorer Ferdinand Magellan, under the rule of Spain to Queen Juana, wife of local chieftain Rajah Humabon in 1521.
