I think Slime has a point about sketch comedy: Back in the early years of UA-cam, people who did comedy didn't see youtube as the end-goal itself, they wanted to move on to bigger things (and some certainly have like Bo Burnham or Jack Howard), in the course of time some of them realized they could make a decent living from youtube itself and once gaming content took off, it took over as the predominant type of content to make (I remember when Tobuscus Gaming got more subscribers than his main channel and the main channel basically got abandoned).
There are still great sketch comedy channels on youtube t hat make funny shit, but it isn't as big as it was back in the day

Jake and Amir did the same thing that Smosh did with head gum they had a whole new cast playing different characters with Jeffrey the dumbass ect and it was very successful. The difference between Smosh and Jake and Amir is that the fans of Jake and Amir aren’t really a nostalgia group they’re still very active And essentially demanded the return of j&a. it’s not behind the Payal their podcast where they watch the episodes was behind a payroll and then they did a few skits themselves And decide to bring back Jake and Amir.
Aimen chill we're not turning slime around cuz if he gets to a mill he will leave and this podcast is supposed to be for ever and ever.

All Lud's talked about over the last few years is how he's GONNA retire and how he's GONNA fall off.
That makes it tougher to stick around as a fan, because you know he's not even commited anymore so why would we be

He's literally been talking about it since he started. TBH its pretty common for people who keep it real. If you look at people like Mang0 who have been around for 10+ years its the same fucking story he talks about retiring every other week. Or heck, look at the Vlogbros. Any random Vlogbros video from like a decade ago and they'll be talking about quitting - yet they've been putting shit out like clockwork for as long as youtube's been around, and they'll probably KEEP putting stuff out for another ten years.
The reality is that Ludwig is a creative guy who wants to do new and exciting things and probably at times feels insecure or like he's becoming basic or predictable and doesn't love that. Note that he's never *really* talking about quitting, he's talking about stopping the stream, or the podcast, or not doing a sequel to an old event series (like mogul money). Ludwig just wants to do new things, not vanish off the face of the earth.
Watch the new Jake n Amir episodes. I’ve seen all the old ones and the new ones are as if they never took a break. The only difference is the age, which doesn’t really take away their comedic ability
