Yes, and it is all based on actual events. The movie is a little sugary at times (given it was the 1950s it's not a shock) but it still portrays his escapades well. The book certainly does not hold back though!
That scene was filmed west of Naches, WA state. Up above the elk feeding station on the Tieton River. Cleman Mountain, Naches and the Tieton plateau are in the background. The majority of the film was done in and around Selah, Naches, South of Union Gap and on Yakima Firing Center.
@foreverblueclassics YW. Glad you liked it. BTW, at time stamp 2:31 where Murph, raises his hand and yells stay there, right inline with his hand in the NW corner of the Tieton plateau, I use to own a 12 acre orchard and hay operation.. But sold it and moved out of state in 2020. If you or anyone else is interested search Tieton or Naches, WA state, (map function) and slowly progress to the west, past the confluence of the Tieton river into the Naches river. There you can easily locate where this action as depicted on "Sicily" took place. In the almost 70 years since the movie was filmed, the topography has changed very little. The road they were walking up when they got MG-42 ambushed is still clearly visible today.

Nice, but you should have included the scene where Murphy climbed aboard the tank to man the machine gun and mow down the Germans advancing on their position. Now THAT was bad-ass!
@@foreverblueclassics Yes... he was an incredible man. Love that movie. Imagine catching rounds from that heavy machine gun? Eat 'em up boys... the lead's been super-sized just for you.

Audie Murphy played himself in that movie too! Talking about badass!

I wonder if Audie had any PTSD while filming this ?
I believe he suffered from it for the rest of his life.
Shooting this movie probably did trigger his PTSD from time to time
He suffered from PTSD for the rest of his life.
I think Dale Dye suffered a flashback on and during the filming of Platoon.

It's called 'To Hell and Back '. It's a very well known movie and the book is one of the best true life war books you could ever read.

Nie, obawiam się, że robię tylko klipy ze scenami akcji. Policja praw autorskich zawsze grasuje!

Audie Murphy played by himself
Indeed. Which must have been quite traumatic at times I would guess.
Pee-Wee Herman was played by Paul Reubens, but he was credited as himself.
